Vanishing Twin?

Hello,
I had my HCG levels tested at 5w2d and my doctor called me in for an ultrasound. The ultrasound at 6w4d revealed 2 empty gestational sacs. He told me then that my levels were too low for twins. I had another blood draw at 7w2d and he just called and said my levels are still too low and he wants me to come in on Monday (at 8w2d) for another ultrasound. He won't give me any idea of what to expect at this ultrasound so now I have to wait all weekend worrying about whether I have twins, a singleton, or none at all. Anyone else experience anything similar?

    HCG levels too low for a viable pregnancy or for multiples?  There is a large range of HCG for multiples and only an u/s can say for sure.  I do not know much about clomid and dates of pregnancy since we have to do IVF but I am guessing they are hoping to see a heartbeat(s) if the dating is accurate, good luck on Monday!

    I'd say the ultrasound is the best way to get answers. My HCG levels were normal, first ultrasound at 6 weeks showed a singleton, no heartbeat. 2 weeks later we saw twins with heartbeats! They're 11 weeks old today! Just stay hopeful and see what the next scan shows!
