Congrats @AmMcc12!!!! Fingers crossed for a sticky baby and a H&H 9 months!
@chloe97 I'd test so that I could either celebrate on the trip or drink ALLLL the margaritas. Good luck!
@AL_TwinCities and @WinchesterGirl, I'm glad to hear your MCs seem to be winding down. Hopefully it helps you both move forward!
1. I'm still relatively new here. Natural MC on 12/26 at 7 weeks, and it was my first pregnancy. I have Hashimotos and likely MTHFR (following up on this). I'm 32 and DH is 33, so we're getting a little antsy to get the show on the road.
2. CD 26 and 7 DPO of a benched cycle. I'm just really glad I ovulated within a normal range for me, and that AF should be here next week. I'm ready to move forward at this point. The past week has been pretty good for me, aside from one thing. How is everyone handling being around friends who are due close to your EDD? I'm in a book club with some friends where one girl is due a couple weeks before I would have been. It was more upsetting than I expected last week to hear her talk about her pregnancy. No one in the group knows about my MC, and I don't want to share, but don't want to quit the book club. Tell me your coping strategies... I went with drinking all the wine, but that's not sustainable long term...
3. Never really had a single favorite outfit. I did, however, hate wearing jeans until HS, so I rocked stirrup pants and sweater dresses in middle school. 90s fashion....ugh!
Glad to hear you are winding down @WinchesterGirl ! It feels so much better for me to have the physical part be over (or close to it). And @RiverSong15 it is great to hear you had a relatively normal cycle! I am so nervous about messed up cycles post-loss. You give me hope for some semblance of normalcy!
me 30; DH 35 TTC since May 2014. Aug 2014 BFP, EDD April 22, 2015. Low progesterone, started suppositories. Loss at 5w6d. Nov 19, 2015 BFP at 13 dpo, EDD July 29, 2016. MMC discovered 12/29 (9+4). Natural miscarriage 1/16 (12+1). AMH results 0.42, 1.2; FSH 12.1, AFC 10, dx DOR. RPL testing results normal. Nurse recommended progesterone suppositories in TWW. Clomid + trigger + TI cycle August 2016 - failed. Thin lining. Femara + trigger + TI cycle December 2016 - failed. Thin lining. Short LP (8 days). Acupuncture & Chinese herbs starting January 2017, lengthened LP to 10 days
@strickland8052 I hate to chart stalk you, but did you get a temp spike today? I did not and it's driving me mad! I've been temping when I wake up at 3 or 4 am because if I go back to sleep and wake up at my normal time, it's not 3 hours of sleep. I think my charts just may be off this month.
@chloe97 - Good to hear from ya, cycle twin! Unfortunately, I did not see a temp spike today either. I did get another *almost positive OPK, so maybe soon?
@chloe97 - What about today? My temp is still low, but I did have an even darker OPK today (still not fully positive though).
I went back and looked at my really old charts from the two cycles I temped last year, and I was O on Day 21 of a 30 day cycle. Could that mean I have low progesterone? Could the short LP have caused my MC at 5 weeks? Other than this short LP, I have no other issues (no spotting, regular cycles, etc.)
@strickland8052 - I thought a short LP could cause the fertilized egg to have not enough time to implant in the uterine wall - but if you got a BFP that means it implanted - but I could be wrong. I know TCOYF talks about it - if you don't have a copy let me know and I'll look it up for you.
What was your other cycle (you mention 2). If you're temping now you should start to get a few more data points (though some may be skewed by the MC). I'd say if you have several short LP cycles you may want to contact your doctor about it - because there are drugs (progesterone) that can help extend your LP and therefore increase the chances that a fertilized egg implants in your uterine wall.

Thanks @catiecatp! I do not have a copy of TCOYF, so any info would be awesome!
To clarify, I have only temped three months, last May and June ( which showed O around CD 21). I then quit temping until this month, which I'm currently at CD 18 with no O yet, so I expect another CD 21 O. I also suspect that I O'ed late when I got my BFP, because I got BFN all the way until CD 32.
@chloe97 - What about today? My temp is still low, but I did have an even darker OPK today (still not fully positive though).

Thinking about starting a B6 vitamin today.
@strickland8052, two cycles of data from last year won't tell you much. Cycles can change in year. Also, one short LP is not a reason to freak out just yet. With temping/charting, you really need several months of data to see a pattern. I'd suggest you keep charting and see what your LP looks like after 3 cycles of data. Taking supplements without a good reason can cause more harm than good, but I admit I'm not familiar with B6.
I'd think short LPs would interfere with implantation, and that you would not have made it to five weeks if the LP was the problem (I'm assuming this is 21 DPO here when you MCd, not that you O'd late).
@strickland8052 still under 98. I have to admit that this is only my 2nd chart and my first was after D&C and was a 28 day cycle- I got the spike after 3 sub-97 days. For the 6 months between going off the pill and TTC, I was at 33 every cycle. Based on my Baby Med app (which was all I used TTC in October) that puts me at ovulating on CD 20 or this Saturday, so I should probably calm myself a bit.
My hormone levels have dropped off and I'm having terrible migraines this week and am as moody as I've ever been o-week. These are my first migraines in at least 6 months. I'm not sure what it means. I was crying to H this morning about how I'm never going to ovulate and that we should give up on having kids. Sigh. Something hormonal is going on, but I have no idea what it is!
I have a good friend with luteal phase defect and she was always able to he pregnant easily, she just needed to progesterone suppositories to sustain the pregnancy. I would ask your doctor to test you so that you have progesterone ready to go when you get the BFP.
@strickland8052 - first note, I am not a medical doctor and I don't know much about fertility. What I'm about to say comes paraphrased from TCOYF - which is a great book and only about $16 USD on Amazon... Before I go into that I'd repeat what @RiverSong15 said - one short LP isn't a reason to freak out yet - track your cycles as diligently as you can for a few months consecutively and go from there. TCOYF doesn't speak to whether a LP deficiency would affect a pregnancy once implantation has occurred - it just speaks to the idea that implantation would be difficult.
From TCOYF - you need a LP of at least 10 days for implantation of the fertilized egg - for some women even 10-11 days may be considered borderline. This LP issue should be detectable through charting fairly easily. Let me know if you do find after a few cycles that you still suspect this to be a problem and you haven't looked at TCOYF yourself - she has a few notes on common mistakes made when trying to diagnose an LP issue, but let's not borrow trouble. There are a few natural treatments that you could try - that don't look like they'd be problematic regardless. TCOYF cites Marilyn Shannon - who believes LP deficiencies are linked to PMS. She suggests a few supplements in conjunction with an increase in flax oil and/or fish oil.
Not TCOYF I had some prolactin level issues a few years ago, and I struggle with depression and PMS. My naturopath has had me on 1-2 Tbsp of ground flax/day on the first half of my cycle and then 1 Tbsp of sunflower seeds on the second half. IF I am diligent about taking it, I find it dramatically reduces my PMS. I also take Omega +Joy by Genuine Health to help with my depression - it has more EPA than most supplements (1000mg per pill) at a level that has been shown to be clinically effective.
Supplements shouldn't just be taken for fun or because a stranger on the internet (me) told you they work for her - I take these (and others) under the guidance and care of a naturopath.

Thank you soooooooo much, @catiecatp! Ill just keep an eye on it and if I don't get pg after awhile or if I have another loss, I'll probably go to an acupuncture and talk to them about it (I have a feeling my OB wouldn't listen or care...maybe that means I need a new OB GYN).
@strickland8052 - Glad to help. If you do your temping, see a pattern, and bring your doctor the data and you have another loss and your OB doesn't listen to you then I think it may be time for a new OB. You have choices and shouldn't have to settle for someone who doesn't take you seriously (though I honestly have no idea how it works with US health care).

@RiverSong15 a friend of mine is due almost the same day I was... thankfully it's not someone I see often, but the every few weeks FB update is like a slap in the face reminder of where I should be right now. I don't really have any specific coping mechanisms. I just keep telling myself that it's not her fault and that I am happy for her... and that hopefully soon I will be in the middle of a happy and healthy pregnancy too. I appreciate your wine strategy! I've been spending a lot of time coloring my new Outlander Coloring Book, which is amazingly calming, while listening to John Williams music. It's not so much an "in the moment" coping mechanism, but helps me relax and be more calm overall.
Btw, if you find some great coping mechanisms, please share!

@dpjennifer I will! I only see her once or twice a month, so I'm hoping time will help. I may have to get myself some coloring books. I knit too, which always calms me down.
TWW sort of. BFN yesterday. AF is due tomorrow, and I'm pretty sure we are out. The new cycle will mark four years of failed TTC. FX we break the streak in 2016!
GTKY: I had a pair of red capri's that I loved to wear. They were so comfy! The sad part is I got them when I was in fourth grade and still wore them on into high school before wearing a hole in the thigh inseam. I didn't have much of a growth spurt until junior year when I finally broke five feet and 120 lbs.
Hi new ladies! So sorry we meet here, but you've found a great community! @AmMcc12 Congratulations!!
I've been quiet for a couple of weeks so I'm going to reintroduce myself.
1. DH will be 30 and I will be 26 next month. BFP first round of trying, BO that ended in a MMC at week 9. A million and one problems afterwards, including (vaginal not uterine) infection and prolonged bleeding. Took progesterone to regulate cycle. BLAH. I'm working on a review paper (for sexual function after spinal cord injury - I feel like statistics about erection, lubrication, and fertility are falling out of my ears) so I'm way too busy for my own good.
2. Ended progesterone 6 days ago, still waiting for AF. At this point we're just NTNP since who knows when I'll get back to normal.
3. The thing that pops out most in my memory is this pajama dress shirt that had a cow's face on it. It had red baseball sleeves and I remember wanting to wear it to bed every night, haha!
OH and @catiecatp 1. love the science and 2. I completely forgot to write back last week and say that my PI is the absolute best about his students having children, so I'm positive he wouldn't mind presenting for me. I think I just want to go for me to have the poster presenting experience. I had a poster at 2014 but I didn't get to present it because I had graduated (Master's) by the time SfN rolled around, so I want to do it this time. This is all assuming that I will have the right data by March to submit an abstract and it gets accepted! I feel like I'm taking crazy pills at this point.
@cjs260 - glad your supervisor is good about kids - mine was amazing and I should have taken advantage of it, but I think my relationship with DH and my mental health are as good as they've ever been, so things have turned out right in the end. Going to SfN is amazing - the size baffles the mind - and a poster is a good entry to presenting there. I hope things turn out with your data - it sounds like you have a really interesting topic.
In my department there aren't/weren't (I'm currently a sessional instructor for my department) a lot of women who had children, especially not during the grad program, but there were a few (the three that come to mind were all close friends of mine). I wish it was more common/accepted. I don't know that it isn't accepted, but there is this culture that it isn't common or to be done or... I don't know. The lab where I did my master's would have been tricky - so many bad carcinogenic chemicals - I likely would have had to stop working in the lab once I got a BFP, if not sooner. But I switched for my PhD (in part because of the chemicals - in part because of an allergy to mice - and in that lab there would have been no need to stop working early.
---TW BFP and MC mentioned - scroll down past the Lilo and Stitch gif to avoid ---
@catiecatp I think if I would have gotten murdered if I had tried it in my master's lab. My PI then was angry enough I was getting married, haha. But I'm a second year and most of the people in my class are still very college party phase, so I can understand why it's probably not very common. The previous two students who graduated from my under my advisor both had two children while getting their PHD, and they both said they couldn't have asked for a better boss. Since I'm probably going to go for a post-doc (unless one specific job opens up right at the time I graduate and I get it), we thought we'd take the opportunity given , since who knows who I'll be under for a post-doc. Some PIs really understand, others do not. Luckily, the lab I'm in doesn't do much molecular work and our only reproductive hazard is pulled out only once every 14 weeks. Even not pregnant I excuse myself when the urethane comes out, because I don't want to take ANY chances.
@cjs260 - I'm glad your current supervisor is more understanding than your master's lab - and the best evidence is past students, because they can say they'll behave in one way but the proof is in the pudding. Also good luck finding a position - we want to stay in Canada and the market is really crappy (the academic market seems crappy everywhere...) - there are more small colleges in the US so hopefully you'll have some luck and the market will be better when you finish.
