I understand that the baby is the ultimate gift. To me a push present is a way of my H saying thank you for everything I have gone through in the last 9 months. So when H suggested a push present, I wasn't about to say no. I got earrings with DS1 and will get a right hand ring for DS2.
@Sarcasm101 of course the baby is the ultimate present!!! And I second what a push present means to you.
@cMichelle0423 not crazy.... That's why I said "for funsies"! Obviously the baby is the best present ever.... You know there is something you would ask for!
what is a push present..? a present for pushing a baby out of you?
Wiki definition:: A push present (also known as a push gift, baby mama gift or baby bauble) is a present a father gives to the mother to mark the occasion of her giving birth to their child. In practice the present may be given before or after the birth, or even in the delivery room.
I like Sarcasm's definition better. It started off as a celebrity thing. Kim K asked for a million dollar choker, lots get necklaces and rings and such with baby's birthstone
Even though i'm technically not pushing anything since i'm having a RCS H and I already talked about it and he is getting me cheesecake. That's all i've wanted and looking forward to eating afterwards!

Push presents have been around long before Kim K. Celebrities have just brought more attention to the idea.
A full 8 hours of sleep sometime between when the baby is born and when they are 5.
Hey now, this isn't that hard to get!
QBF
My kid has been cluster feeding for two days now and I've been awake for 48 hours. I hold no more hope.
Sure the beginning sucks really bad but you'll definitely get a full night of sleep before your LO is 5. Just wait until your kid starts sleeping 12 hours a night. That shit is magical.
I got a Louis Vuitton purse before my first kid was born. It was right near our anniversary so I consider it an anniversary gift more so than a push present. My husband's jaw dropped when I told him there was such a thing as a "push present".
My present is my baby, and that DH gets a week off from school for spring break starting the day I'm due. Not a whole lot of budget for push presents on a teacher's salary, but a week of just the 3 of us at home? Priceless.
I got a case of stout and a salami hoagie, and it was delicious. Sadly I couldn't get my hoagie till the next day because baby was born on thanksgiving and the shop was closed!
How about a nice cold strawberry piña colada!? Or better yet, a Miami vice! That would be my ideal push present. Haha. Just have it waiting in the delivery room, hunny!
I promise I'm not an alcoholic. Haha. It's just been one of my biggest cravings and a virgin one just doesn't do it for me. I plan on breast feeding so I'm still a while out before I'll have one.

ohmygod i cannot wait til my frist Blue Hawaiian after baby is born. i plan on BFing too, but I'm going to pump before i have one. i just want one.. desperately.
My push presents have always been food. A great rare steak or beef tartar. Mexican martinis and the opportunity to get my hair done without any SOS texts. My husband has been amazing with my push presents (aside from the regular parenting he excels at) and I'd rather have these than a material thing. That's not knocking material presents, but I just would rather have something consumable.
I was joking with my husband the other day about this, and asked for a nice camera to take fancy baby picture. Baby is due the day after my birthday, so baby will be the ultimate push present/ birthday present!
I bought myself a really nice bottle of red wine when we were wine tasting before IVF. That will be tasted with birthday cake as well.
I requested a margarita and hubby did not fail me. DD was born one day before our anniversary. Although I did get tipsy after like 3 sips...being sober for 9 months really makes you a lightweight again.
I'm also going to add my parents were here helping us when we decided to make the margs. We just don't get buzzed with a newborn. Lol
I do think it's a silly concept but during my last pregnancy, I brought it up and my husband did not object so I went with it. I'm NEVER going to pass on a present. I needed to get my engagement ring resized ( apart from the pregnancy swelling, 7 yrs after the engagement, my knuckles got larger before I got pregnant) so we got a new, more elaborate setting. This time, with two kids going to daycare and college funds, he says he wants to buy me something but not as expensive. Ill take it! I'll probably opt for something shiny. I'm like a fish, I m drawn to shiny things.
I want something with LO's birthstone in it, but nothing crazy. Maybe a knickknack or something? I have a feeling I'll be getting a smart water and a KitKat, and that's fine too!
I would love a 3rd band for my wedding ring set. Nothing extravagant, but I think it would be cool to add a skinny band to symbolize the engagement, wedding and starting a family. What am I really going to get? Probably a diet coke and ibuprofen.
I've asked for a margarita but just for fun if I could ask for anything it would probably be something shiny with little ones birthstone in it or a really nice camera.
I'll second birthstone jewelry, but I'd also consider getting someone to clear the bushes out of the flower beds in our front yard to prep for roses. (I'm lobbying for this for Valentine's Day actually. . . It is family tradition to plant at least one rose bush when a baby is born.)
We're not into push presents but I'll be having some salmon gravalax and my fav wine as a toast post baby (just 1/2 glass since I'm nursing).
Another PP mentioned about a spa day. My LO was born in Feb and my husband planned a spa day (hot tub, salt scrub, Vichy shower and massage) for me for Mother's Day! It was totally doable. At the time I had some emergency bottles pumped lol, spa day was an emergency. As a FYI the next year I got a coloured picture, we were only fancy for the first year lol
