I'm planning a homebirth with a Midwife but I have also been into an OB's office for both a gender & anatomy U/S and neither have made any mention of my weight or being induced. I would def. have a serious talk with him or her if there is no "serious medical issue" and if I didn't feel up to looking for a new OB.
Not me, I am going to attempt a VBAC assuming I go into labor on my own otherwise I have to have a repeat c-section due to gestational diabetes but my doctor never said anything about my weight.
I think if my doctor told me that, I would be looking/meeting with other doctors. I have never heard of that. At least get a second opinion.
Nope, my OB hasn't said a word about induction. The only thing he said was at our first appointment when we talked about weight gain goals was that being overweight has a higher chance of c-section.
I agree with PP and would get a second opinion if that's what they are suggesting.
Hi, I never post but I saw yours and had to say something! Yes, my doctor told me I will need to be induced and the only reason she gave me was that I'm overweight. She also referred me to a high risk doctor for the same reason so I have to get more ultrasounds. My pregnancy has been SO normal it's ridiculous. No high bp (it was actually low, 108/62, the last time I went), no swelling, passed all my tests, and my baby is growing perfectly. I went to a different doctor to get a second opinion. He didn't say anything about me having to be induced due to being overweight. His bedside manner was horrible so I just stuck with my original ob. I told her though, that if nothing is wrong with me or the baby, then I don't want to be induced. She agreed. So we set the appointment for the induction but she said if I feel like I want to keep going then I can just not show up.
My advice to you is to tell your doctor what YOU want to do. If there is nothing wrong with you, they can't make you. Being overweight is not a good enough reason, in my opinion, to be induced. Especially if you are otherwise healthy.
I'm 5'3" and weigh 284 now. I started at 220...so I've gained WAY more than I was supposed to and STILL not having any problems.
My ex sister-in-law was 5'3" and around 300 pounds with each of hers. She did not have to have a c-section with either of them.
That's awesome! I wasn't trying to say that people have to get c-sections, just that my OB said there is a higher risk of having one of you are overweight so he was trying to lower my risk by giving me a lower weight gain goal because of my starting weight. I hope it didn't come off that way!
But he has said nothing about having to be induced because of my weight.

Chalk this up to pregnancy brain. I meant to say that she did not need to be induced with either of them.
Nope. My doctor hasn't said anything about my weight. Blood pressure has been perfect throughout. I would be shocked if it was brought up unless something drastically changes and it would be for LO's or my health.
