FFFC

Re: FFFC

  • @MamaNicoleof3 I live in the boonies and go to a very small OB office that has an U/s tech coming in twice a week. They don't have an u/s room equipped with a huge screen like in bigger practices.

That makes sense then. Carry on.

My brain sometimes takes awhile to figure things out. And currently said brain is clogged with all kind of snot :-/

What? You don't like all the excess mucus?

  • @denny+lee- I LOVE it so much and I'm so glad it's coming out of every freaking orifice. Especially when it's accompanied by sinus pressure, body aches and painful ears. It's. The. Best.
  • @denny+lee we must have the same sonographer. I thought I was going to die of anxiety during our first ultrasound because I didn't know she was just being that way, I thought something was wrong with the baby. Ugh.

My fffc is that my anatomy scan was scheduled for today and got cancelled due to snow. So logically I cried like a baby about it for half an hour. I'm still pissed though.
  • @mdargie- that stinks! I'd have cried too!

Last night I told my husband that I felt too exhausted to cook dinner and suggested pizza (thanks to the Italian vs Mexican thread). I wasn't actually too tired. I just didn't feel like cooking and wanted pizza and ice cream instead of the baked salmon and roasted cauliflower that I had planned to make.

    You're welcome ;)
  • @MynaBird YAY!!!! Congratulations on your girl!!

  • @parsonsperson Thank you! I'm glad we didn't find out last time, because that was a great experience too, but holy moly is it exciting to know. I totally get it now.

  • My anatomy scan is on Monday, and we're team green as well... And I'm so worried that the tech is going to slip and let me know. I know it's silly and it doesn't really matter, but i can't let it go.
  • @denny+lee I'm so sorry! That is absolutely ridiculous and I'm be incredibly upset as well!!

Leaving work today I turned around at a noise to see one of my associates (the 20 year old super dramatic, over sharing one) bawling. She didn't see me notice so I quick turned around and pretended like I saw nothing. It was Friday at quitting time and I had nothing left to be a shoulder to cry on. But I feel terrible about it now!

*Edited for a typo, because apparently I can't spell Friday anymore.
  • @ahernandez16 haha I couldn't help laughing out loud at that one! I definitely think it was in her best interest I that I didn't approach, but felt really cold doing it!
  • Someone sent me Godiva chocolates today and I might eat them all before H gets home. Then not tell him I had any.
    We'll see.

I think we are all very welcoming to new people that come into this group that haven't previously participated but FOR GOODNESS SAKE, if you aren't going to become involved in the group after your initial post, DON'T POST, effing GOOGLE IT.  I think it's really selfish to come into an established community to ask ONE question that you were wondering about and then freaking disappear and half that time, they don't even thank people for taking the time to respond.  WTF.

I just stopped reading the questions.  If I don't recognize the poster, I skip it.  I can't handle it anymore.

    Yes doing this
  • @hockeyfan42 perfect. That's exactly how it was.
  • I totally just put cream cheese in my grilled cheese along with the cheddar. Yup. That.
  • @Tawny87 that sounds amazeballs. Cream cheese in an omelet is amazing too.

Haha! I'm a psycho and phobic of eggs. Yep, I'm 30 and if there was a plate with bacon and eggs on it, I wouldn't eat the bacon because it may have touched the eggs.... There is most likely some clinical diagnosis for my kind of crazy lol!
  • @Lyette1206 If it's at all reassuring (and I get it; some things just can't be reassured), the US techs we saw with our first were really respectful of our not wanting to know the sex. I had to have a couple of extra US later in pregnancy, and even at those, the first thing they asked was whether I knew the sex and/or wanted to make sure I didn't find out, and then they were really great about making sure the surprise wasn't spoiled.

  • @NicknShan I know how you feel! I don't usually get to get on until about now and I always feel like I missed everything!
  • @sdnybrk people are insane. We are planning to name our little boy Barrett and call him Bear for short. I've got a cousin who is almost 16 whose nickname is Bear (has nothing to do with his first name) and my uncle - not even my cousin's dad - was freaking out over Christmas because we were "stealing" his name. 1) we live in a different state and see them once a year 2) there will be a 16 year age gap. I think we're safe...

Yeah.. his grandmother said "we already have a renee"...after his mom listed the 3 obscure relatives named deleen that SHE is named after... umm...

@MynaBird Nathan Fillion is my favorite! He totally nailed my expression, too!
  • @Lyette1206 know that some US techs will use gender-specific pronouns casually and interchangeably just for the sake of conversation! When I had my first techs were doing this all the time (even though I did find out what I was having) - at least 75% of the time a tech would say "he", "him", etc, but they weren't trying to tell me it was a boy, that was just how they chatted about the baby. At one of my later scans I specifically asked "this is a GIRL, right? you're not trying to tell me this is a boy?" and she apologized and assured me it was still a girl. So don't read in to it too much if you think the tech has "slipped" and told you the gender by using a specific pronoun!
  • I got put on bed rest and have totally been throwing myself a pity part all week. I'm not really that bored yet but I'm complaining about it already because this could last another 4.5 months!

Ugh, that sucks. Seems like a legit pity party to me.

We decided to order in last night in advance of being stuck inside for 3 days with the snow. Papa Johns had a special where you could get a second large pizza for $0.50. So..... we have a LOT of pizza.
If you had NOT taken advantage of a fifty cent pizza, THEN you'd be getting flamed.  But what you did? It just makes good financial sense. :)

  • I was traveling for work this week and I definitely threw out almost my entire dinner two nights in a row after feeling violently hangry before ordering. Bonus, last night I ordered *three* appetizers for dinner and ate about a third of each one. O.o I am appalled by my own wastefulness.

To the poor girl who farted at work *hunger games salute* I've been apologizing to my poor husband for the same ever since I got home from work. O.o
  • I got distracted tonight and let me toddler stay up too late playing ipad games (bad mom). Now she's wired and won't go to sleep. Tried for half an hour to put her down before DH heard the screaming and came to relieve me. Sitting here now just listening to her freak out...agh.
  • We taught dd1 what buttons are what on the side of the tv since the remote broke. Yeah, we are lazy.

  • Not Friday anymore but I have a confession.

Found out we are having a boy yesterday at the a/s. I'm so thrilled that he looks healthy and is doing great. That's obviously the most important thing. Part of me is slightly disappointed he's not a she. And I feel pretty bad about it. I know gender disappointment is normal. And i KNOW I'll get over it and just love absolutely everything about him. But my initial reaction is that I really wanted a girl. Ugh. The guilt.
  • @joose159 aw, don't feel bad. that's the reason I wanted to find out the sex of my first early on...I knew I wanted a girl and wanted to deal with those emotions *before* I had a newborn. Now you've got 4+ months to get excited abotu your baby boy!

Thank you! I am so glad I have time before he comes to get all excited about having a boy. My nephew is one of my favorite things on this planet... I just need to switch gears mentally.
