I am eating pretty much whatever I want ... I had a good chat with my co worker who gave me the side eye over eating off of a charcuterie board. Jeez. A little brie cheese and salami is going to be OK.
Blue cheese buffalo chicken salad. "I don't think you should be eating blue cheese. Plus that's hardly a salad- wouldn't it be better for you to just get a regular salad right now?" Just try to stand between me and buffalo chicken salad! No really, reach your hand in there. Come at me bro!
Oh wow. It's breakfast time here and now I want that!!
@AshleyBKeen it depends entirely on the herb type. Some are great, some are 'not studied' and some have counter productive effects. Generally speaking though they are safe as can be. The mayo site has a great list. I have had no caffeine in 7 mths (first for IVF/egg production now for pregnancy.) except for a tiny bit of chocolate around Christmas and on a Sunday. I miss Dr. Pepper.
ETA- this is in no way suggesting others shouldn't have herbal tea or caffeine. FTN. Lol.
Ooooooh. See, that though would never have even occurred to me o.o. THERE ARE THINGS I DON'T EVEN KNOW TO BE WORRIED ABOUT! *rips at hair*
Kudos to you, mama, on nixing caffine! I had two cups of Chai at an Indian buffet at lunch today. o.o Where do you find your steel trap like resolve?!?
I love this thread so much. I just read the whole thing and am cracking up...the list of "no's" for pregnant women sounds really hilarious when you read it all at one time!
I'm really living on the edge over here. I just had my hair highlighted for the second time (gasp). And I had tuna salad for lunch TWO times last week. I have some caffeine every day. And have sips of DH's red wine about every weekend.
I will say the one thing I am worried about is this dang Zika business. We have a Babymoon to Turks & Caicos planned for March. Considering cancelling .

I know I've posted about this in the "Babymoon Ideas" thread but I'm also exploring my options of canceling St. Lucia at the end of February in case zika continues to develop/spread. Honestly, I'm hoping to get more insight when I discuss it with my doctor on Tuesday this week. The resort hasn't yet responded to my question about canceling without paying 50% for our stay (which is a lot...this was a bucket list trip). I hope they will work with me but we will see.
I can't remember if anyone has mentioned this or not, but for those of you concerned, you should read "Expecting Better." The author debunks a lot of supposed pregnancy rules that have no basis in actual science. Half a glass of wine a day is FINE. Sushi is FINE. Over easy eggs are FINE. Raw milk cheese is NOT FINE (Listeria is no joke). Real studies prove it.
I can't believe anyone ever told any of you not to take a hot shower. LOL. That's just crazy making. Unless you are blistering your skin for thirty minutes...it is NOT the same as boiling yourself in a hottub!
Oh man i love this board!!! I have felt completely scrutinized on the 2nd tri-mo boards b/c of some bad pregnancy choices...here's my life
I have taken ibuprofin once b/c of a horrible migraine that lasted 4 days. on the last day it woke me out of sleep at 3:30 am with throbbing and blinding pain. I took 1 pill and within 15 minutes, my head felt so light and i fell right back asleep. I felt so guilty b/c it's supposed to be acetaminophin only, but lets be real here, that stuff just doesn't cut it!!
I have HOT HOT HOT showers, and even take a hot bath every couple of weeks to soak my achy feet and back. I drink coffee every day and i'm with you ladies on the subway sandwiches!! There is something delicious about them when pregnant. Its like when you're dieting and not supposed to eat junk food...it tastes so much better when you finally cave. My favorite rule to break is hotdogs. I have been craving hotdogs with sauerkraut, celery salt and mustard. And baby girl does not let mama rest until she gets what she wants.

And for the grand finale of what not to eat when pregnant, I just went to casa bonita, ate there, and enjoyed it. Anyone from Colorado will totally understand the horror!!!
@AshleyBKeen if I hadn't already given it up, I probably wouldn't have cut it completely, but after three months without it already for IVF it was easier to just not pick it up again when I was pregnant. I am really sensitive to caffeine and get severe headaches when I drink it. It's a very effective deterrent.
Just wanted to throw out here that I just got chastised by a girlfriend (who doesn't have kids) for eating COOKED sushi because of the risk of cross contamination...
How ridiculous. What on earth was your response to this? ******************QBF********************************************* My response: "Really? Is raw sushi dangerous to eat while pregnant? Good thing I washed down my sushi with 5 shots of tequila to kill anything dangerous!!!!"
Ive been sick 4 times so far and my hubby freaks out when i take cough drops...apperently there are some that contain alcohol..and he always asks how many ive had that day. Im sick of being sick and being able to take nothing but tylenol! I know people who almost had to live off cough drops when they were pregnant! Their babies turned out fine!
biked 6 miles to the gym this morning. it was still dark and raining pretty hard. I'm 20 weeks and am still totally balanced and feeling okay on the bike. but this morning the rain/dark combo just made me SO nervous! I was determined to get to the class i had paid for already and i glad i did and everything was fine... but a nervous rider is not a confident rider... and if you aren't confident it's not good! so i think that may have been my last bike ride.
any other pregnant ladies still biking (just so i don't feel horrible?)
@mmmKayy I'm exhausted just reading about your physical efforts... good for you!! But if you're starting to get scared its probably a good time to stop!
it was just nerves because it was so rainy and dark. my head was like.."oh gosh I bet the roads are slippery.. oh gosh there's a pothole" i was totally psyching myself out! seriously, i was taking it so slow a runner passed me.
is it ridiculous that part of the reason i am still biking is because my husband bought me fancy new lights for my commuter for xmas and it feels mean not to use them. I'm afraid once the baby comes i won't be able to bike commute because of day care drop offs and such.

i'm guessing i'm not supposed to do that.
hubby's out of town and the microwave broke.
