Rant/Rave/Symptoms? same symptoms, new day. Fun fun. Rant People in my area don't know how to handle snow (DC metro area). We got 3/4 inch of snow which rapidly turned to ice on the roads since they didn't salt and its been below freezing for awhile. They have multiple bridges and major roads closed for de-icing and all of my commute options are 2+ hours (normally 45-ish minutes) due to the shitshow that is our roads today SOOO I'm working from home and likely will again tomorrow. Sorry boss, not dealing with this nonsense.
What are you doing to prepare for baby? 1 more coat is needed on one last wall for the nursery and then it'll be pretty much done with painting. Then we need an area rug for the room. We're sanding down an old dresser of mine and either restaining or painting it for the baby, not sure which, so we just need a crib now but we've got plenty of time on that since we already have a packnplay for them to sleep in.
GTKY: How did you and your SO meet? In college, he went to high school with a girl on my floor who needed help with her econ class and he was an econ major so she called him to help out.

Rant/Rave/Symptoms? Rant: I'm exhausted today. Rave: Come on Monday!! I am so stinkin' excited for our first ultrasound. Symptoms: RLP. And this sharp twinge in the middle of my uterus right above my pubic bone...mostly when I'm walking or standing. I thought it would go away after a while but it's pretty consistent everyday. Not sure if that's RLP pain too or not.

GTKY: How did you and your SO meet? DH and I actually met through my little sister. He is a year younger than I am and they graduated high school together. We were 18 and 17. One day he was over at my parents house picking up my sister and her boyfriend. I had just recently broken up with my previous boyfriend and DH was a sweet talker and tried to cheer me up with a shoulder massage lol Needless to say it worked and the rest is history.
Rant/Rave/Symptoms? Rant-I'm freaking out about this blizzard starting tomorrow, and my boss expects us all to be at work all day, but I already gave my coworkers a heads up I'm leaving around 11:30 before the bad stuff starts because I do not want to be driving with the idiots on the road while pregnant. Also I work with IDIOTS that don't communicate and the day has already started off crappy because people don't communicate and one of my patients was supposed to leave to catch a bus at 7:45 and it's now 8:20 and he still hasn't left so I'm freaking out cause it's the last bus of the day. UGH! I'm trying not to be anxious cause I'm getting crampy and I know it affects the baby, but I'm having a hard time relaxing. Rave- My Dad owns a construction rental store and reserved me a generator for the blizzard so at least we'll have some power if power does go out so that's some relief.

Rant/Rave/Symptoms? Well I'm horribly ill and I don't know why. My asthma flared last week on Sunday. Also found an incidental heart condition which I'm following up with this afternoon. They have me on Albuterol, Flovent and Prednisone. No one told me Flovent causes thrush so now I have that. I'm got a headache this morning and woke up with UTI symptoms now too. I'm literally falling apart. I came home early from work yesterday and called in today. It's killing me to use time off because I know I need it but I can't continue to be sick like this.

Rant/Rave/Symptoms? Yesterday was my first experience with lightning crotch. Ouch! Also, my temper is getting worse... no patience and no ability to recognize my irrational responses. Luckily, I am containing them to angry texts venting to DH for now. Rant: My boss has been out sick for the last 2 days. He came in today and he's in the cube next to me practically coughing up organs and sniffling. incessantly. I can't get sick because I have to use all of my sick days to get paid maternity leave. He needs to GTFO! His job is NOT important enough that he needs to be here and get everybody else sick! Rave: We are so close to Friday...

GTKY: How did you and your SO meet? We went to the same college and lived in the same dorm except different floors. I was down on his floor visiting some other friends and noticed his dorm room door was open and he was watching the first college football game of the season. I popped in to check the score and we started watching football together.

Rant/Rave/Symptoms? Rant: The weather is yucky, although nothing like some of you are dealing with, and people cannot drive!! The further south you get the worse the weather driving gets. Rave: Tomorrow is SO's birthday, he will be the big 31. This will be our the first birthday we will celebrate as a couple. So excited!!

GTKY: How did you and your SO meet? We used to work together--we worked together for nearly four years and weren't particularly friendly during that time, so I was surprised when he asked me out on my last day of work there. The rest, as they say, is history.

Ummmm.... I have a history of back pain, and it is already starting back up. 19 weeks to go... and I know it's going to get much worse.

Rant/Rave/Symptoms? Rant: Just tired and hungry, as usual. Rave: Going to make an offer on the CX-5 after work and then out to dinner! Likely not going to work tomorrow due to impending snowstorm and not willing to risk getting stuck in it. They don't handle snowstorms well in the DC area... Went grocery shopping last night to plan for dinners the next several nights and got some junk food to snack on while we're snowed in, yay! Symptoms: Heartburn this morning after eating my frozen waffles and margarine and my whole body is super itchy.
What are you doing to prepare for baby? Interwebs was too slow to do registry stuff at work so looking forward to doing that at home this weekend. Sold the twin bed in the downstairs room so DH may move the queen out of the nursery and into that room this weekend. I'll start packing the knick knacks up and moving them downstairs too. Hopefully I won't be overcome with laziness this weekend but it could go either way, haha. There is so much I could do around the house, but the sofa is so comfy... Also, I really really hope the roads are clear enough by Tuesday so we can get to our a/s!
GTKY: How did you and your SO meet? At a party in college at his basement apartment during sophomore year back in 2003-4. We talked and discovered we had gone to high school together but didn't share any classes. I think that was pretty much the extent of the conversation...didn't talk again until senior year when we started dating after hanging out with mutual friends. I remember chatting on AIM for hours when that was still a thing. Funny thing is that DH works for AOL and they still use AIM to communicate.

Rant/Rave/Symptoms?
Rant...still feeling like I did yesterday. This week has just been so emotionally, mentally, & physically tough. I want to hide in bed.
Rave...our crib, dresser, & recliner for the nursery have come in.
Symptoms...really intense, constant cramps. See question below!!
Questions? Maybe a dumb question, but bear with me...
Since around 9am yesterday morning I've had an intense, constant pain (cramp like) about 4in below my belly button. Yesterday it was more off to the right, & even went down my right leg a bit, but today it seems fairly centred. I've been having RLP but it always comes & go...this has been consistently there. Called my OB & the nurse told me that since I'm not bleeding she isn't overly concerned, but the consistency of the pain is odd. I should go in if it gets worse...which it hasn't. It did seem worse yesterday, to the point that I was in tears & could not stand up straight...today I seem to be able to go about my day with it. So my question...has anyone experienced this? And if you have, how did you find some relief from it?! I tried Tylenol yesterday (did not help), & have been finding some comfort with a hot water bottle, but I can't take that everywhere with me.

Questions? How many of you who know the gender of the baby are going to try and stay gender neutral? I'm at FTM and we are having a little girl I'm so tempted to buy cute pink and white stuff for her but I know we are having a second. Part of me thinks i should keep it gender neutral so we can re use the big stuff (swing, car seat, stroller, high chair, bouncer, furniture, etc) and just buy the cute pink clothes and other small stuff.

Today was the first morning I woke up to pee and didn't have semi-excruciating pain... Hooray!
I feel good today, but yesterday had woken up to a full fledge return of MS that lasted MOST of the day... That was unexpected after three or four weeks... and NOT pretty.

GTKY: How did you and your SO meet? We met on EHarmony!!! So bizarre to think at this point.... I had never been online dating, but always told my girlfriends to... So I figured I'd try it! He was the first person I met on there oddly enough. We completely hit it off on the NEXT date (first date was a little awkward!) and inseparable since.

GTKY: How did you and your SO meet? I was in high school and my best friend was dating his cousin (who went to our school). They introduced us and we've been together ever since! I was only 16 when we met and I'm so happy I found him so early in life he has been my rock through so much!!

What are you doing to prepare for baby? I get the feeling I'm not doing as much as I should be. I have read one book and created our wishlist of items. We have yet to install the ceiling fan, steam the carpet, paint, or put together the furniture, we've still got time right? After my 20 week scan and finding out baby is too big, my next steps for getting ready are going to be quitting my Chick-Fil-A Chicken biscuit habit and walking more.
Questions? Who else keeps falling into the Google trap- googling worst case scenarios? I am a sucker for it and it makes my anxiety RAGE! Today's topics: Gestational Diabetes and the Zika virus.
GTKY: How did you and your SO meet? We use to work together at our old company. We both traveled every week to opposite sides of the country though so the longest consecutive time we spent together was when we spent 10 days in the Bahamas for our wedding and honeymoon- I thought I was going to strangle him on the way home.
@DeePaddy24 Please keep an eye on your pain. If it gets that bad again, go to the ER. Or if you start running a fever, call your doc. I'm not trying to scare you, but pregnancy can often precipitate appendicitis.
Rants/Raves/Symptoms: Did some research on state disability leave yesterday and I think I qualify as long as my doctor provides documentation that I need x amount of time off. I'm not guaranteed my job like with FMLA but it's partial pay so my boss can suck it. Symptoms: GAS. My mom and I went to Home Goods yesterday and the loudest fart snuck up and escaped while we were waiting in line. Everyone looked. It was mortifying. I can fart but I can't poop. Stupid.
GTKY: How did you and your SO meet? We were in high school (he was a senior, I was a junior) and both in marching band together. We had never talked before until he stole my phone number out of one of his friend's phones and just started texting me one day which I found to be cute and not creepy? and then two days later I invited him to my house to watch a movie and play Wii and asked him to our Sadie Hawkins dance and here was are almost 7 years later haha.

Rant/Rave/Symptoms? Rant: My cravings are out of control. I wanted nachos and ice cream and marshmallows and hot chocolate and taco dip last night...and ate several of those things. I normally eat so healthy. I need to be better about getting "good" calories in with the occasional treat not getting "crap" calories in with the occasional nutrition. Rave: H was a doll last night taking care of me....I felt very pampered.

GTKY: How did you and your SO meet? On Match. He winked at me, which I thought was lazy. I wasn't going to respond but a work girlfriend saw me looking at his profile said "He's cute, wink back...I want to go to an Indian wedding" (H is Indian). I did, we then emailed back and forth once and then met shortly after at a wine bar. I didn't believe in love at first sight AT ALL until I met H but I'm not kidding when I say I felt the world stop for just a split second when I met H in person for the first time. I called my mom after I met H and told her I had met my future husband.

Rant/Rave/Symptoms? Rave: Sleeping much better with the new snoogle position! Other Rave: I found a site called "minefornine.com" which is like a "rent the runway" for pregnant women!! I am going to rent a gown for the valentines ball we have coming up and for another friends wedding! You can rent regular maternity clothes too! Check it out ladies!! Rant: This snow storm... I live on the coast (3 blocks from the beach) in southern/central NJ... we are looking at up to 18 inches... I don't care about the snow as much as the coastal flooding... we get really bad flooding (during Sandy our house was one of the only that didn't get water inside because we're built higher up) but even in high tides/full moons our street floods and we have to move the cars to higher ground etc. SOOOO of course they are predicting horrible flooding combined with snow. I'm looking forward to PJs and movies and quality time with my DH uninterrupted, but I'm not ok with how we're getting it!

GTKY: How did you and your SO meet? I was close friends with his sister and he came to a bbq in her backyard one day (visiting from out of state). We became friends and a year later he moved back to the area.. I had recently been laid off and he was looking for a new job in the area so we had the whole summer off to spend together while our friends were at work... what started as a friendship grew into something much more and 9 months later we were engaged! We got married a little over a year later, and we'll welcome our 1st child just after our 2nd wedding anniversary

@jerseygirl9090 - I would stick with gender neutral car seats/strollers/big ticket items... you don't want to have a boy the second time around and have him in a pink carriage or have to spend all that money again! Plus theres tons of pretty blankets/accessories that you can adorn the stroller with for your little girl the first time around!

We ordered the Chicco Keyfit 30, and extra base, and the stroller frame it attached to. It feels good to have another big purchase out of the way! Today we are ordering the crib/changing table/dresser set. We are deciding between two at Walmart. Thank god for DH's OT checks!

Rant: DH keeps putting off ordering our nursery furniture - it takes at least 8 weeks before it even ships and i do NOT want to be putting stuff together when I'm huge. Rave: I finally got him to agree to help me clean out our downstairs bonus room this weekend which is currently being used for nothing but storage. I almost cry every time i walk in there because it stresses me out. No symptoms!

I think my nesting instinct has kicked in but on stupid stuff. Like I'm obsessed with cleaning out all my kitchen cabinets. Today's mission: my spice cabinet. I have hundreds. Me and the label maker are going to have some fun today.

I had just moved to Denver and was really really drunk on my way back to my apartment with a friend of mine. I saw him across the street and he was wearing a Primanti Bros tshirt (famous sandwich place in Pittsburgh) and I called him over to see if he was a Steelers fan. He was a fan (bonus points) and apparently I kept telling him he was so cute that I wanted to put him in my pocket and keep him - in retrospect, its a miracle he ever called me. I couldn't even remember what he looked like after the fact. He texted me about a week later to meet up at a bar downtown and thank goodness, he was good looking and super nice. The rest is history!
Rant/Rave/Symptoms? None yet today. Except, it's Thursday which means the kids I nanny for will be crabby (cause they always are by Thursday) and homework time will suck.
What are you doing to prepare for baby? Crocheting a blanket. But other than that nothing until after we move next weekend.

GTKY: How did you and your SO meet? We were in choir together in high school and became friends. After high school we both married other people and neither marriage worked out. We ended up back in our home town a few years ago and I needed a guitar teacher and he happened to be available. What was supposed to be an hour guitar session turned into 3 hours sitting in the outdoor amphitheater at the mall, 6 hours sitting in Starbucks during a horrible freak thunderstorm, and staying up talking on the phone for another 4 hours. Four days and a lot of conversations later he officially asked me out. Dated 3 months. Engaged 3 months. And now happily married for 2 years with a little guy on the way.

What are you doing to get ready - we are going to start emptying the guest room this weekend so we can start the nursery conversion.
Question - is it normal to have days you feel less pregnant? There are days I feel nothing at all then there are days where I have gas and such. I heard the HB on the 14th and I have my US on the 26th but I feel like I loose my mind between appointments thinking Oh no what if something is wrong cause "today I feel nothing" anyone else feel that way? I manage to convince myself that my stomach feels less hard under my extra curves and everything.

Rant/Rave/Symptoms? Rant- I really think my computer at work gives me the worst headaches and I don't know how to get around it on the days I HAVE to work on reports! Also, got freaked out by how much I've gained when I went for my appointment yesterday and doctor didn't say much but just to remember not to eat twice as much but twice as well but I'm SORRY, I NEED A SNICKERS or I'm gonna just fall out! Struggling to find the balance. Rave-DH and I found a really pretty 2nd-hand crib we're going to pick up this weekend. I also picked out a swivel/rocker/recliner yesterday at the local furniture store and it's a good bit less than we've found at BBB and BRU. Yep, we'll be ordering that soon. Symptoms-headache, gas, insatiable hunger, discharge.

GTKY: How did you and your SO meet? In 2010, I started my internship as a school psychologist in the district where, at the time, he was a self-contained special education teacher. He ended up going through a really difficult divorce and my marriage didn't work out, either. We had always had a really neat connection and just decided to give it a shot. Got married in March '15.
@samsonator Mine is broken into three different classes the first one is march 28th then the last two classes are the end of April the 17th and 25th.
@Jerseygirl9090 we knew we were having a girl first and did all gender neutral. I'm fully set for this baby because of it! I definitely recommend doing it that way. There are so many more options now than there were in 2011.

Rant/Rave/Symptoms? Rave: our power is fully operational again and it cost us nothing! Our subdivision has buried power lines and a rock was apparently resting directly on our line. The wire vibrates when the power is on and the stupid rock wore through it over time. Loads of rain. Zap, no power. Rant: The hole in my yard from the power company fixing the wire. Hopefully the sod doesn't die in that spot.
What are you doing to prepare for baby? Nothing much today.
