Need help finding girl names similar to Morgan

DH and I haven't been able to agree on ANY girl names until we came across Morgan - which we loved - until we realized our last name was too close to making her name basically Morgan Freeman.  SO, trying to stay away from almost naming her after an old, male celebrity - do y'all have any other suggestions of names that feel like Morgan?  We're at a loss!

  • What a bummer! I love Morgan so much. I applaud you for thinking of your daughter's future life. Many parents are much more short sighted.

Here is a search based on names with a similar meaning. I like Maris, Meredith and Mira from this list:

  • Megan
    Cara
    Audrey
    Samantha/Sam
  • Arden was the first thing that came to my mind! Maybe Danica or Reagan?
  • I got on here to suggest Morgana, but I see it's been suggested!! I wasn't sure if it was too similar. I worked with a Morgana once and loved her and her name!!
  • I tend to think Morgana Freeman would be just as much of a joke as naming the baby Morgan Freeman. Possibly worse because now you've purposely femmed-up Morgan by adding an -a.

Seriously? Morgana is an alternative name for Morgan le Fay from Arthurian legend. Not just a "femmed-up" Morgan.
  • Alright, I'm a Morgan so first off I think you have great taste in names! I wouldn't do Morgana, I always cringed when people asked me if that was my real name bc it actually is the original female version of Morgan. I always got called Megan growing up bc its so similar so I would go with that.

Okaaay...but the OP wanted to avoid Morgan because the last name was so close to Freeman. Ergo, Morgana is no better than Morgan with that last name.
  • All good thoughts - thanks everyone!  DH isn't into Morgana, so it's off the table either way - but I hadn't even thought of it before y'all suggested it.  We will debate names while stuck inside during blizzard this weekend - so keep the suggestions coming, if you have 'em!  If it helps, it's more the feel/style of Morgan that we liked, less about the M itself....

It really depends on the name, and only the op is privy to that.
  • Ashlyn, Audra, Brynn, Taylor, Meredith, Miranda, Piper, Rowan, Nora, Maren, Erin, Hannah, Sloane

  • I would totally go with Morgana! I feel like you (atleast I.) pronouce Morgana different from Morgan. With Morgan its more like More-Gan, and Morgana is more like More-Gone-Nah, so I think it would remove that Morgan Freeman issue.
  • I really like Malin and I think it kinda has the same feel you like
  • Maren, Gwen, Rowan. Love Morgan though. You have good taste. :-)
