I seriously freaked myself out when I was reading about the degrees of tears prior to having my DD. I ended up with a 2nd degree tear, it really wasn't that bad. I stressed about the post-poop, and with the stool softeners, and taking my time when the time came, it was fine. I honestly didn't feel like my healing down there was terrible. The Dermoplast spray is a God-send, and I used the peri bottle fora few days, but never had to made padsicles or witch hazel pads or anything along those lines. Now my SIL had my niece 5 months after me and got a 3rd degree tear in addition to her hemorrhaging, so I had all the feels for her after my research. Some tears (mostly 4th, some 3rd, and even some 2nd...) require pelvic muscle PT...I can't imagine those appointments would not be awkward...
I think the best advice I have for trying to prevent tears? As much as labor sucks, don't rush getting your LO out. Taking your time and not forcing them out like a bullet from a gun should decrease the amount and severity of tears. Yes, that's hard to think about when a bowling ball is trying to come out of your vagina, but that's something you can have your support person remind you of during labor.
I would like to second this advice!! I had an inner labia tear with DD, and my doctor said it was the second worst one he had ever seen. DD came out exactly like you said, a bullet from a gun. It caused extreme bleeding which luckily they stiched up quickly. But then I had to have it opened back up and restiched because I got a huge blood clot that caused a shit ton of pain!
Morale of the story...labor sucks, but don't rush it if you can help it because tearing makes postpartum healing even harder.
On a side note they also have a HP related non-alcoholic beer. I think the brand is called Flying Cauldron and it's called butter beer if I remember right. Its actually not to bad, and tastes like butterscotch.
@TKaiser91 I've seen things for making Butter Beer on Pinterest, but I've never tried it. My family had some when they went to the Harry Potter exhibit in London. Everyone come to my place around Halloween! Let's have a HP party with homemade Butter Beer, Chocolate Frogs, and other HP treats! We can dress all of the babies up!

I am ready to Harry Potter nerd-out! Pumpkin pasties, some of Hagrid's rock cakes, cauldrons of "potions" like Felix felicis and polyjuice potion... my imagination goes on. I hope I can encourage my kiddos yo love HP as much as I do so that I get to actually have a big HP party some day.
Is this really a necessity? I just love the print on this Skip hop stuff so I registered for everything with the print! but honestly, if it's not a practical item, I'd rather someone spend $8 toward something else. It's so cute though.
I'm way late on this, but we actually used ours a ton and DD1 wasn't that into pacifiers. We could squeeze two or three in that little pouch and it was so much easier to grab one out of there instead of going into the diaper bag and hoping there was one easily accessible.
@fbanke42 I am with you on the super crabby. I think it probably has something to do with the lack of sleep since I continue to wake up around 4am and not fall back asleep. I have zero patience with my youngest stepson right now and I feel a little bad. I need to put on my big girl panties and adult for one more day before he goes back to mom's. But I don't wannaaaaaaa.
What is it about 4am??? I'm pissy as hell today because I woke up at 4am and laid in bed watching Youtube videos for an hour before I could fall back to sleeep. Then of course I woke up late.
The temp that will be taking over for me while I'm on Maternity Leave started yesterday and omg she's obnoxious. I got pissy with her this morning because not only was she late but then she came in my office bothering me because she couldn't figure out how to turn her computer on...um...I'm working. I'm not in IT. Push the fucking button!
Also, yesterday I had her email a list of needed supplies to our purchasing dept and she spelled Hand sanitizer "Hand Sanotisor" and Kleenex "Cleanex" AND Post-it notes "Posted note"...wtf?????

I tried going to a childbirth class about a week ago and one of the fathers was writing foods on a white board and he spelled almost every word wrong. He wrote yello, burito, spinich, turky...I can't even remember them all. But he spelled Himalayan sea salt perfectly. So strange.
I got our new wifi camera/ baby monitor in the mail today. I'm super excited to get it set up this evening. Also, DD has been playing with the box for a solid half hour now.
@mrstrax Can you blame her? That's a perfect size box for ADVENTURE!!!! (LOVE all that hair!)
@yodiggity Ouch. That spelling would horrify me. Some of them make sense though - cleanex for cleaning your nose and posted note because it gets posted somewhere. My husband and I love to compare when people get sayings wrong because they almost always seem to sort of make sense on their own, if still incorrect. The latest was 'blessing in disguise' which someone told him as 'blessing in the skies.' Which if you believe in God, comes from the skies for some so it still kinda makes sense. I find those kinds of mistakes interesting. I'd still correct your fool temp though!

Her hair has been so crazy lately! The top and front are getting long enough to just be wavy (and stand straight out) and the back is all super tight ringlet curls. I'm really hoping they relax for her a little because it's a pain to deal with already.
@Knottie9983816 Nooooooo! Buttered popcorn jelly beans make be ill! I accident ate one yesterday, thinking it was coconut since there were no yellow spots, and it took 5 more fruity flavored ones to get rid of the awfulness! Right there with you @mrstrax

Coconut is disgusting. In all shape and form. I like them because they are savory. I severely dislike sweets... Guess I should have saved that for my UO tomorrow! Lol
Who leaves this kind of shit on a pregnant woman's desk? I don't even like doughnuts, but dangit if I don't want to eat ever single one of them! Curses whoever did this! The struggle of a hungry pregnant woman.....
I about had a heart attack when I saw that someone started a sticky "April Birth Announcements" thread.
1. Thinking one of my bumpies already went .. And..
2. Realizing that we could start having babies very soon. Hopefully not THAT soon though.
AHHHHHHHH!!!

I wanna play with all the gif files, but I cannot figure out how to find them. Apparently I has the dumb! So I will just leave this photo here with regards to my frustration...and totally agree with the heart attack! Hold those babies in ladies!!

May 16 had a girl go into preterm labor already! They were able to stop it and she's in the hospital, but that was a close call. Sooo crazy that the weeks seem both so long, and so short at the same time.

I usually just search "what kind of gif I am looking for" gif in google images and copy the image link and post it in the "attach image/file box.

Yes! Pretty in Pink!
DH keeps telling me I'm secretly an 80s kid. No one my age seems to get my 80s references, which makes me sad.
I love the '80s! I was totally obsessed with them all through high school! Great movies, music, and style!
Can we all make a pact that no one will post a fake birth announcement or anything else crazy on April Fools Day unless you legitimately have your baby, are induced, etc? I don't think I could handle a ton of fake birth announcements with how things have been going with my crankiness.
So I just realized I have absolutely nothing for this LO except a bassinet and 3 outfits. 2 of which my mom just brought over this week. Now I feel extremely behind
I'm kinda surprised that someone hasn't had an early baby yet. Very happy that it hasn't happened though!! Let's keep these babies cooking for as long as possible.
@fbanke42 I think anything baby related on April Fool's Day, intended to be a joke, is in very poor taste. And I also know it's a very real possibility I may have an April Fool's Day baby, given that I'm only due 5 days later...

Husband just called and said, I can bring you anything for lunch, what do you want?
I picked Carl's Jr. #noshame
