Trying to Get Pregnant

Ten Things Tuesday

1. We aren't going snowboarding on Sunday anymore. I'm ok with it because I am in my TWW and that means we aren't spending the money.
2. However I do think I'm out this cycle.
3. But that means more time to get down to my goal weight.
4. Our new bedroom furniture is coming this weekend. I can't wait!
5. I wish it was the weekend already.
6. I went to a new workout class last night. It was a weight lifting one. I don't think I like it. I would rather just lift the weights at my own pace.
7. We finally got the heat/registers sorted out in our house! It's not freezing anymore.
8. I need to schedule an oil change for my car. I am about 1,500 miles over it. But I do mostly highway driving and I checked it a few times so I think I'm good still.
9. I have an appointment with my counselor next Thursday that way we can discuss my feeling whichever way this TWW has gone. It's only my second one post MC and I had way to much hope last week.
10. I think I'll make my oil change appointment the same day.

Re: Ten Things Tuesday

  • @m6agua I love a weight lifting class! It moves me at more of a cardio pace which I won't do usually unless running, swimming, or rowing. I just won't do it on weights alone.

    1. I'm super happy with where my exercise commitment has taken me. :)
    2. I'm actively trying to be more active with H sexually, and I'm finally finding it a little easier. We finally almost hit eod this fertile period.
    3. I wish I had a higher sex drive. I think it would make some of this more fun.
    4. My mom comes to visit me in 3.5 weeks! I'm so excited!!!
    5. I'm obsessed with Dave Ramsay.
    6. H and I are finally on the same page budget wise and savings. It's exciting now. Haha.
    7. We went on a field trip today. Had a picnic in the desert. It was about 70 degrees and beautiful.
    8. A new health store opened near my house. We checked it out last night. They had my protein powder in MINT CHOCOLATE. I was so happy till I saw it was more than double the going rate of the same brand, same servings size in any other store in town.
    9. We did buy a 2.5pound tub of natural peanut butter. I've never bought so much pb in my life. Good deal though.
    10. I'm waiting on my new insurance card to make an appointment with my obgyn. Need a Pap smear and figure I'll make sure all is ok.

***this post contains reference to other children. I've searched this topic and it looks like TWs are not necessary for this, but I'm a noob to this forum and want to make sure I'm not offending anyone***

    1. Our (very part-time) nanny gave us her 2 week notice yesterday. Now I'm up shit creek when it comes to childcare -- daycare centers won't take DS as we only need 6 hours a week at the most, and reputable in-home places are full. Craaap.
    2. I don't know what my dogs got into, but they're really gassy the living room smells like a sewer.
    3. It's currently 11°F outside. Winter is really, truly here.
    4. Time to break out the flannel sheets. I love flannel sheets!
    5. I almost went to a spinning class this morning, but I'm really intimidated by the soccer mom clique at our gym. Their kids are all the same age, they all hang out socially and they all get coffee after class and gossip. They make me nervous.
    6. I should just suck it up and go.
    7. Why do these dogs smell SO BAD.
    8. There might be a snowstorm on Saturday, and although I dislike winter, I love a good storm.
    9. I'm optimistic about this cycle, but also scared to get my hopes up.
    10. Can't wait for football this Sunday.
  • 1. 4 day work week!
    2. It's so cold. It was 1 degree when I left for work.
    3. I wish DS would get into a better sleep schedule. He has been a fighter since he was born about sleeping. Drives me nuts. When I hear people get their kids to bed by 6:30 or 7, I get so bummed out.
    4. My friends fiancée has a band and she wants me to go to his show on Friday night. Now that DH works afternoons, I would have to ask my mom to watch DS so I could go, and I really don't want to go that badly. I feel like I really have to pick and choose what I do when I'm asking my mom to watch him (even though my mom is super easy going and wouldn't care). It's not like DS goes to bed early, so she would get DS at 6am and he would likely be up super late with her. Ugh I just need to say no.
    5. So Serial went to every 2 weeks now. I feel like this season has such reduced interest already, I think it's going to lose even more traction from going biweekly.
    6. I am in a reading funk. I have times where I always I have book and times where I can't even fathom picking one up.
    7. I hope Zoup has potato cheddar soup today. That sounds so good
    8. Does anyone else watch American Horror Story? I felt like the finale was sort of meh.
    9. I was excited to see when Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt and OITNB are coming back.
    10. I wish I had a shorter commute to work.

  • 1. @kmalls You must be in the Northeast too. I'm soooo not looking forward to the snow though. DH and I have had a date night planned for Saturday for like a month and if it snows MIL won't be able to watch DS for us. I'm so mad.
    2. DS woke up coughing and crying around 10 last night. DH went in to comfort him and watching him (on the video monitor) tuck DS's blankets around him and rub his head after putting him back in the crib was the sweetest/hottest thing ever. I jumped his bones after that. ;)
    3. I had my hair dyed red on Sunday and I freakin' love it. But I hate that so much of it washes out each time I shower. Any suggestions? (Besides the John Frieda Red shampoo, which I have)
    4. I find it so weird that I have a +opk yesterday and a temp spike today. It's a full 9-10 days earlier than my last two cycles. Maybe I'm finally getting "normal" after my mc.... Or my body is just psyching me out.
    5. I'm irrationally attributing my potential early O to the acupuncture I had on Sunday morning. 'Cause I'm speshul.
    6. I want my bestie to get KU this cycle too so that our second children can be close in age too.
    7. I live in "activewear" and I love it. Sorrynotsorry.
    8. I need a good pair of slippers that will stay warm and fuzzy for more than a month or two, but I hate dropping a lot of money on them.
    9. I just started doing TRX and cardio kickboxing. I'm obsessed.
    10. Go Pats!!!!

  • I really don't have 10 things today but just want to say..

@Megzb510 good god it's so cold here too!! Feels like -8 right now and my toes are crying.

Also, I had the opposite reaction to the AHS finale! I didn't love this season when it first started but as it went on I felt this was probably the "smartest" season (besides 1 which can't be touched in my opinion), and I loved the finale!! I also loved the references back to previous seasons this time around, I thought they did them really well.

Clearly I care way too much about tv :)
  • @PeggyOlsonFTW - yep I'm in MA. Dyingggg for the Pats game.
  • @sarah0985 a 70 degree picnic sounds amazing!! I'm jealous!

    1. I am pretty excited about my eating habits over the past few weeks, hoping I'm fully past all the indulgence of last month! I'm feeling so much better.
    2. I watch the Bachelor with friends on Tuesdays! I can feel the drama already....
    3. We've been watching way too much HGTV. I have so many projects planned now.
    4. My crazy michevious dogs finally earned roaming privileges while we're gone. They're so grown up! (Now that I've bragged on them, totally expecting a disaster after work today).
    5. I have no less than 5 loads of laundry that need to be done.
    6. New haircut yesterday, feeling pretty sassy today!
    7. Work has been pretty slow the last couple weeks. Ready to be busier!
    8. Am I the only one who can never find matching socks? I think the mismatched socks trend is long gone, but I'm still sporting it out of necessity.
    9. Thinking of throwing out all the socks and buying 20 of the same pair.
    10. I woke up at 3am and haven't really been able to fall back asleep. I'm thinking a nap may be in order today...
  • @Megzb510 I watch AHS! I was not a big fan of the finale, but I liked this season better than Freak Show. Did they even show what happened to Chloe Sevigny and her son in the finale? And I think Denis O'Hare is freakin' fantastic, so I like how much of him was in the finale. I feel like they underutilized him this season.

  • @SLou24 - I guess the way it ended with Countess trolling on another mark just didn't feel like a definitive close. I kept expecting more show.

Also, I'm living in my Uggs so I'm glad it's not not wet n snowy cuz they are useless in slush.

@PeggyOlsonFTW - red dye does fade too fast! I love red dye so it makes me so sad to see it go immediately down the drain. I think they recommend you rinse in cool water. Also if you can stretch out shampoos that helps it last longer.

    2. We went on a beautiful hike through the snow on Sunday and found a great pub after.
    3. Getting back into baking bread although I don't like to eat much bread. I like toast though.
    4. Having dinner with aunts and uncles without the parents makes you feel like a grown up.
    5. Husband bought a 3D printer called Ultimaker, hehee.
    6. My office makes half caff coffee and it is awful. It does make it easier to cut back on coffee.
    7. I have a teeth cleaning in the afternoon and I forgot my toothbrush at home. Eeks.

  • @houseofsetters  You'll have to give an update on your #4 tonight!  We have a 5 month old puppy and I am terrified of the day we let her roam.  She really doesn't get into anything now, but I'm sure my imagination will run wild with the things I think she'll do when that time comes.  Kinda like Rachel in Friends when they lock Emma in the apartment...

Ross: A pigeon, a pigeon. No, no wait, no, no, an eagle flew in. Landed on the stove and caught fire. The baby puppy, seeing this, jumps across the apartment to the mighty bird's aid. The eagle, however, misconstrues it as an act of aggression and grabs the baby puppy in its talons. Meanwhile the faucet fills the apartment with water. Baby Puppy and bird still ablaze are locked in a death grip, swirling around in the whirlpool that fills the apartment.

Rachel: Boy, are you gonna be sorry if that's true.

    3.  Sometimes I read BD as backdoor and then I don't want to use the letters BD anymore.
    4.  Watching my DH cuddling our puppy last night made me really, really want a baby here now.
    5.  Thought it was Wednesday this morning until my phone told me otherwise.
    6.  Guilty pleasure - I still watch American Idol.  Keith Urban and Harry Connick Jr. crack me up.
    7.  Making our favorite enchilada pasta dish tonight and I can't wait to eat it.

    1. It's so sunny out! I want spring spring spring!! I'm ignoring that it's 2 degrees out there.

    2. We moved away 8 months ago and it's finally starting to feel normal... for anyone else who has moved away from family/friends, how long did it take to not miss everyone and everything back "home"? Any tips?

    3. We are only 1.5 hours away haha. I know I shouldn't complain.

    4. I NEED TO GET UP AND BE PRODUCTIVE NOW

    5. byeee

  • 1. Not original, but it's very cold here and everyone is talking about the impending snow storm that may or may not happen.
    2. DH and I spent the weekend house hunting and I think we are going to put in an offer on a house tonight.
    3. We went back and forth between this house and another, and even though the other had more room and was possibly more practical, we really fell in love with the house we are offering on and couldn't let it go.
    4. There is already another offer on this home, so we may not get it anyway even after deliberating forever over whether we would make an offer or not.
    5. Our agent emailed us at midnight to say that there is another house that will be going on the market and she thinks we may want to see it before putting in our offer tonight.
    6. The house we were planning to offer on is in my dream neighborhood, but this new listing is on my dream street.
    7. The last five things were basically just a background story to ask if anyone thinks we are crazy to see or not see this new house. Part of me thinks we should just move forward with the first house since there will always be the possibility of another (maybe better) house coming along and at some point you just have to choose. But then part of me might always wonder if the new listing was perfect.
    8. House hunting is stressful.
    9. I'm tired.
    10. That's all I can think of because house thoughts have taken over my life.

  • @OrangeEv I moved 5.5 years ago and sometimes I still miss home but it definitely gets easier, less intense, and less frequent.
I found that joining groups and immersing myself in my life in my new home made it easier.  That way I had friends who certainly didn't replace the old ones, but could act in their place so to say.  It takes awhile to make friends that you can truly confide in so my "old" friends certainly still got majority of my "oh shit this just happened" texts and phone calls but eventually the new friends started getting them too.
Also making sure my house felt like home was important.  Putting pictures on the walls and in frames was important for me.

It's hard.  Just continue to give it time.

  • @sarah0985 thanks for the advice! I am slowly trying to involve myself in things. We joined a gym and I am starting to make friends from work that I could hang out with outside of work.
I think also accepting that it's hard is helpful also. And that other people agree that it's hard.
  • @PeggyOlsonFTW
I haven't, but I just now looked it up on IMDB and it sounds good! I may have to give it a try.

  • @OrangeEv yes. Knowing that you aren't the only one definitely helps. Google the 5 stages of culture shock. Even if you're still in your home culture I feel like it still applies. its a continuous every flowing curve. It's interesting and may give you insight. I found it helpful when I moved to understand what I was feeling and why.

  • I think I'll do a 5-things Tuesday...

    1. My doc put me on 10 days of progesterone and metformin to jump start/regulate AF. On day 9. Woke up this morning FINALLY feeling a bit crampy and bloated, but still nervous the red witch won't show up. I've felt this before and...nothing.
    2. Really hoping metformin will get my cycles started and down to a manageable length.
    3. My coworker went into labor at work last Thursday, and had her baby boy that night. While I'm super excited for her, I'm also a bit jealous.
    4. I feel surrounded by pregnant women or people who have just given birth. It's hard!
    5. DH should be getting the results of his SA back this week. I'm crossing my fingers that everything is A-OK.

  • I'm with everyone on the cold! It is in the negatives here today. It is supposed to warm up for the weekend (high of 20).

@PeggyOlsenFTW I do a cardio kickboxing class twice a week and I love it!

    sarah0985 said:
atcwag Not even a little bit.  He's just happy he's getting it more than once a week.  He doesn't care what the reason is. HAHA! It's not even that I don't enjoy sex.  I enjoy it once it's happening.  I just don't need it or want it that often.
@sarah0985 I am the same way with my sex drive.

@severmilli12 I do the same thing with looking a pregnancy announcements. I need to stop torturing myself. Sadly I feel that this week is going to be the longest week ever, ugh.

  • 1. The weather is crappy.  Freezing cold, snow, ice, slick roads.  Called in to work because it took half an hour to get 4 miles, interstate was backed up for hours... glad I called in.
    2. Not sure what to do for dinner...
    3. I have 2 books I've started and need to finish soon.
    4. I have a dinner party this weekend, I want to drink but then I don't...."just in case".
    5. I want pizza! But can't leave the house.
    6. I need to get back in the groove of working out, I wish I loved going to the gym.
    7. Why did I sign up for the half marathon in May again?
    8. I need a vacation badly.
    9. I wish I was a SAHM.
    10. First, I need to get KU.
  • 1.  I'm happy I found a yoga class at my yoga studio that isn't heated, because the planning-ahead-too-much part of my brain thinks I'll be allowed to keep going if I get KU
    2.  I spent my whole lunch break reading pregnancy test reviews online and strategizing reliable purchases that will still give me a good bang for my buck
    3.  I learned that the ones I bought at first, Target brand early response, are pretty much reviled by the entire interwebs
    4.  I'm also in big snowstorm country, and really hoping it's much ado about nothing.  I'm supposed to visit friends in Boston Saturday that I haven't seen in way too long.
    5.  I attempted to spend the day organizing yesterday and did pretty well
    6.  I feel like nobody responds to my work emails
    7.  I can't wait to go out to dinner with H tonight.  I mentioned this in TWW a while back, but our favorite restaurant is closing next week and this will be our last chance to go.
    8.  The restaurant was also supposed to cater my best friend's wedding in August.  They made their announcement less than a month after she signed her contract. She's pissed.
    9.  It was really hard to leave my dog to come to work today.  He was extra snuggly.
    10.  H is talking about wanting to plan a trip to Ireland for the fall, as long as I'm not too far along by then, and I'm pretty excited even though it's not the best use of our finances right now.  Going to investigate whether we could do it with credit card points.
  • @PeggyOlsonFTW I had red hair for years and loved it! But I had to give it up because I just could not take the cold showers any longer. And that’s what you need to do to maintain the red. Your stylist might tell you that it’s unnecessary but that’s probably because she wants you to come in more often for maintenance. But it’s really the only way to keep it bright and shiny. Also, dry shampoo (my hair is fine and oily, too). I probably only washed my hair 2-3 times a week.

@Megzb510, @SLou24, @PeggyOlsonfTW I LOVE AHS, but skipped this season because I saw that the theme was Hotel and I spend most of my time travelling/staying in hotels and thought that I would no longer be able to sleep if I watched this season. Do you think that sounds about right? Or should I be fine?

@houseofsetters I watch Bachelor on Tuesday with my girlfriends, too! Wine, yoga pants & Bachelor!! (I claim that this way we can skip the commercials, but really, I just can’t stay up that late.)

@Sparty18 I need this enchilada pasta recipe. It sounds amazing.

@OrangeEv I wish I could tell you that you’ll stop missing “home” soon, but I left home 15 years ago and I still get homesick. :'(  What helped me was to make new traditions and actively pursue new friendships. Those friends are my new local “Family”. I highly recommend checking out MeetUp.

@sldp123 GO SEE THE HOUSE! Otherwise, you’ll always wonder, "what if?"

    1.      I feel guilty because it’s only 40 degrees here and I’m still wearing wool socks today.

    2.      I strolled into work at 10am today….. more guilt.

    3.      A woman was very rude and mean to man with Downs on the bus today. It made me so sad and angry.

    4.      I like to fantasize about what I might have said to this woman and other rude/mean people. It always contains a LOT of expletives.

    5.      I have responded to two work emails today and spent the rest of the time bumping.

    6.      Jessica Jones is great in theory, but that Krysten Ritter is a horrible actress.

    7.      DH and I have agreed to no longer go house hunting once I’m KU. We’ve decided to wait for the current bubble to burst.

    8.      This means having a baby in an 813 sq ft one-bedroom condo.

    9.      The previous owners did it, but we have so much sh!t!!

    10.   I didn’t have yesterday off and I believe that reflects poorly on my company. (Read: They are racists)

    4. I am making tacos tonight but am not really feeling them. They were the husbands request.
    5. I realized today that I really need new work clothes before returning full time in the fall.
    6. We started watching criminal minds from season one and it reaffirmed my love for Morgan and Reed.
    7. I don't know if I will ever get caught up on laundry.
    8. I bought cookies yesterday and have already eaten way too many of them.
    9. I want some coffee but I feel like it is too late in the day.
    10. I need to get my hair done.

  • 1.  I get to leave work early today, but it's to go to a 3-hour continuing education thing.  One of those three hours has an 85-page handout.  This isn't a book club, how are we going to go over 85 pages in an hour?
    2.  I'm seeing Disney Frozen on Ice on Sunday with my mom (mother/daughter tradition).  It's right at the start of the second NFL playoff game.  Boooooo.
    3.  My food-logging is going really well but today I'm seriously wondering how I'm going to stay under my number of calories.
    4.  I used to be entertained by the "am I totes preggers??!11/?!!" posts, but now they just really bug me.  Have a modicum of respect for the community you're injecting yourself (and/or your rainbow farts) into and read and follow the TOU.
    5.  I need to watch the last two seasons of AHS - we prefer to binge on them rather than watch them weekly.  We did see a few of Hotel, and I love Mr. March.  He cracks me up, even though he really shouldn't.
    6.  In that same vein, I'm so excited there will be a second season of Scream Queens.  Chad Radwell was everything.
    7.  I'm feeling pretty overwhelmed at work.  When I told a few people there (including my supervisor) they all just kind of blew it off.
    8.  I'm pretty irritated that, even with all my effort trying to do the sex EOD during my (unpredictable) FW, we still only got 3 days.  I know I should be okay with it but I'm still pretty disappointed.
    9.  Also, in the mornings, I get pretty bad anxiety that my temp won't be over coverline in the TWW.  It's never been an issue, I just worry about it for no reason.  Scumbag brain.
    10.  The continuing education thing is at my law school, and it gives me anxiety to think of going back there.  Would it be bad to have a glass of wine before?

  • 1. I went to the gym yesterday. I did a three mile run and a boot camp class.
    2. The boot camp class wasn't hard.
    3. I hope the next class is harder, which sounds sick.
    4. My kids are both napping which is AMAZING!
    5. I brought a coffee cake to a meeting this morning and most of it is left over.
    6. My kids are getting that for breakfast tomorrow.
    7. I ordered my husband's Valentine's Day present last night. He is getting a Fitbit and a glass water bottle.
    8. I am not going to make him wait until Valentine's Day to use his gift.
    9. I am going to a friend's house this weekend with my husband. I am really excited!
    10. It is a heat wave! It is currently 7 degrees. It was -8 this morning. So like a lot of other people said, it is cold today.

  • @PeggyOlsonFTW - I had red hair for the better part of a decade and cutting back on washing was my best friend. I also tried the John freida line, but preferred a shampoo and conditioner from Aveda - Madder Root Shampoo and Color Conditioner.

    1. I'm back to my natural hair color for the first time in over a decade.
    2. I don't like my natural dirty blonde hair color. It's boring.
    3. My dad's company is shutting down and he's thinking of retiring way early.
    4. He hasn't told my mom yet.
    5. He jokingly (which means he really wants me to) asked if I would break the news to her. I told him to man up.
    6. We're having people over this weekend and I'm planning on making lasagna my mother's way. I'm terrified to f* it up.
    7. My elderly cat has stopped grooming herself, leading to me having to brush her every night. Which she hates.
    8. We have a treadmill with which I need to reacquaint myself. Winter pounds don't look good on me. I'm already a sizable girl.
    9. I'm eyeing up a pair of boots on amazon. I absolutely do not need another pair of boots.
    10. My husband and I are considering moving to a warmer clime from the upper Midwest. F* the cold, dark winter. I've put up with 30 years of this bs.

    6. Sick of my mum posting birthday/birth announcements about DS on Facebook before I get a chance, I haven't gotten the first one yet!
    7. She's also not coming to his birthday party and I'm quite peeved that she can't be an adult and deal with my dad being there
    8. I don't want to go exercise the horses, it's too hot.

    1.  Being a Broncos fan in Patriots country is hard.

    2.  TaskRabbit is the best thing ever.  DH is in his third week traveling for work and is stuck at a conference center with a terrible cold which brought on a migraine this morning.  Enter TaskRabbit - I was able to pay someone to buy medicine and bring it to the conference center in an hour.  All vetted, all monetary transactions conducted through the company and charged to my credit card.  Happy DH and happy me.

    3.  I am trying really hard to stick to my diet but it is making me cranky.

    4.  I have to go see my personal trainer tomorrow for the first time since November and I am not looking forward to it.

    5.  I am trying to skim-watch the X Files to get ready for the relaunch but it is not going very well.

    6.  I get to go visit my OOT baby nephew in a few weeks and I am soooooo excited I can't stand the wait.

    7.  My cat needs to stop it with the hairballs.

    8.  DH and I were going to do a winter getaway to the DR or Puerto Rico but now I think we are going to scrap the whole thing because of Zika virus.  Boo.

    9.  Snow storm speculation drives me crazy.  Whatever will be will be, and we won't know what it is until a day or two before, tops.

    10.  I have been procrastinating way too much today.

@Sparty18 I love that scene from Friends!! And we went from crate, to baby gate in a tiled area, to now roaming...and our dogs are 3 and 5. I think the older they get they are just too lazy to get into trouble!!
