Re: Mon/Tues Ticker Change 01/18 & 01/19

  • week/ fruit: 25/cauliflower

rants/raves/symptoms: I cannot get comfortable to sleep. It is the worse and I am so exhausted. Cole moves all the time now and is starting to respond more to me touching him. He will push back where I push. Love it!

upcoming appointments: Wednesday for me glucose test.

questions for the group: When does the third tri start? I've been reading a many different things ranging from 27 weeks to 29 weeks.

Gtky: Are you and your SO going to do anything special, just the two of you, before LO arrives?
I think we are going to try and find a hotel in the mountains for Valentine's Day and just spend some time away from the city.

  • Sorry, I've been really bad about checking in.

    week/ fruit:  22 (tomorrow)/papaya

rants/raves/symptoms:  I still haven't felt her moving around all that much!  I know she's squirmy because she's always dancing around on the ultrasounds.  I am assured that this is normal, but it would give me more peace of mind to feel her more often.

upcoming appointments:  Regular appointment in three weeks and follow-up ultrasound (to check partial placenta previa) on March 2.

questions for the group:  None today.

@vinerie We got the BOB jogging stroller with the car-seat adapter.  I was originally planning to also get a non-jogging stroller, but a few friends who love their BOB say they use it for everything.

Gtky: Are you and your SO going to do anything special, just the two of you, before LO arrives?  It's a nice idea, but I doubt it. :)

    week/ fruit: 23 weeks / grapefruit

rants/raves/symptoms: definitely feeling more uncomfortable this past week in the evenings and in bed. I'm worried how I'm going to feel in 3rd tri.

upcoming appointments: I had a regular check-up this morning. All is well. Good heartbeat, blood pressure, and weight gain. I'll have the glucose test in 4 weeks at my next check-up. I was also given the hospital registration forms which I wasn't expecting! This pregnancy is going too fast!

Gtky: Are you and your SO going to do anything special, just the two of you, before LO arrives? We have talked about it, but probably not. My parents like to take our daughter over night once a month or so so I'm sure we won't do anything more than that.

  • @sarawifenow I consider 3rd tri starting on 26w6d, but I know there are other ways to calculate it.

@vinerie We love our jogger stroller. We use that for pretty much every outing and for walks. Right now I'm looking into a double jogger stroller, but I hate how wide they all are! I don't think we will decide on one until after the baby gets here.

  • week/ fruit: 23/grapefruit

rants/raves/symptoms: Bleeding gums and leg cramps have arrived. I was doing just fine without them haha.

upcoming appointments: Wednesday to see the maternal fetal specialist. One of LO's kidneys appeared to be slightly dialated on the A/S. Dr. said it was a precaution so I'm really hoping there's nothing wrong. Then Jan 25th for OB follow up and glucose test.

    questions for the group: None.

Gtky: Are you and your SO going to do anything special, just the two of you, before LO arrives?
At the moment we don't have anything planned; although it would be nice to do something special!
  • week/ fruit: 25-cauliflower or Napa cabbage

rants/raves/symptoms: sleep is hard at times but I can't totally figure out why. Just uncomfortable. And the heart burn was gone for a couple of days but then came back. Overall I don't feel too bad but I can tell I'm much slower then normal now!

Loving the movement and seeing my belly move. Love that SO can feel their kicks and see them squish to one side. Bought them a few things this weekend which was fun!

upcoming appointments: feb 2 is my next one I think. Just a regular check up. Then feb 11 for my growth ultrasound and cervical length check.

questions for the group: none that I can think of right now

Gtky: Are you and your SO going to do anything special, just the two of you, before LO arrives?

We are talking about going out of town for a weekend. Not too far away. Just a little break
  • @vinerie we registered for the uppa baby vista since it can be a double. It's not a jogger but it's more sturdy then some of the others. We don't plan on getting anything else except maybe cheap umbrella strollers down the line!
  • @folamij Our LO also had dilated kidneys at our A/S. Do you know what you are having? Dr said it is fairly common in boys. Either way, it isn't really something major to worry about. I know worrying is so hard to keep in check, though, so I don't blame you.
  • week/ fruit:  25w1d - Cauliflower or Baseball Mit (depending on the app)

rants/raves/symptoms: I feel like I haven't slept in days.  I'll fall asleep and then 2-3 hours later up for a bathroom run.  When I get back into bed, DH is snoring like a freight train and it takes me 2+ hours to fall back asleep.  I guess on the positive side, I am learning how to function on little to no sleep.

upcoming appointments:  Feb 8th - 28 week appointment and glucose test

Gtky: Are you and your SO going to do anything special, just the two of you, before LO arrives?  We've had a lot of unexpected trips we had to make since the BFP so we aren't going anywhere.  Stay-cations are the way to go!
  • week/ fruit: 22/Papaya (tomorrow)

rants/raves/symptoms: Rant - felt pain after intimate time for the first time this pregnancy... definitely scared me. Rave - Baby is kicking ALL the time and it is so reassuring. I'm starting to feel him kick somewhere and then feel him in another spot inches over a few seconds later. Symptoms: Weight gain is really the only one. I can't tell if my legs/feet are swelling or if it is just the new lbs.

upcoming appointments: Wednesday for my monthly check up, next Thursday for another echo. Will have to talk to my OB-GYN about the echo results, and I think my limitations are about to skyrocket, along with the number of appointments so I'm definitely worried.

questions for the group: I've been sleeping with a pillow under my back, but the past couple of nights, I woke up and realized it wasn't there. Not sure how long I was sleeping. I know the baby is fine because I feel movement, but is this happening to anyone else? How do I prevent it?

Gtky: Are you and your SO going to do anything special, just the two of you, before LO arrives? DH is in charge of planning a baby moon, but I told him to wait until after my testing next week to book anything because we may not be able to go as far as we were originally planning. Definitely going to do something special, but TBD at this point!

@adorkablepixie - buying a house is definitely something special! Good luck.. I know it is a lot of work too!

@hellogoodbye2 - I saw a 'stacked' (not sure if that is the right word) double stroller the other day. I'm not around any children so it was the first time I've ever seen one, but the babies seemed to love it, and it was thin.
  • @sarawifenow we are having a girl. Neither my husband or I have a history of kidney issues in our families. I've been keeping worries in check for the most part. Thanks for the reaffirmation!

@AliciaD39I sleep on my back. Is that bad? I put a pillow under my knees and it's the most comfortable. On my side my hips start to ache :( I mean, I definitely rotate side and back, so it's not all back.
    Me: 38; DH: 41
    DS: Born 5-17-16

  • @vinerie I'm not sure. I am most comfortable on my back, but my doctor said that by 20 weeks, it puts pressure and reduces the blood flow to the baby. She said as long as I have a small pillow underneath to slightly elevate, I'm fine.

However, my nurse said that I could sleep on my back as long as I'm comfortable because when I begin getting uncomfortable is when the blood flow is being reduced.

I would ask your doctor for peace of mind, but it sounds like you are rotating and aren't it pain so I wouldn't think it would be an issue.
  • week/fruit: 24/canteloupe

rants/raves/symptoms: My husband snoring. I love feeling our girl kick and punch! I'm starting to feel all the back pain and aches. Having a lot of BH contractions.

    upcoming appointments: February 11

    questions for the group:

Gtky: Are you and your SO going to do anything special, just the two of you, before LO arrives?

Over Christmas we took a 3 week vacation with his family to SE Asia. No more traveling for us. Maybe like a date weekend or something.

@AliciaD39 do you remember what it was called??

Also, I know I've woken up on my back several times too. I can't help it, it just happens!

  • week/ fruit: Tomorrow I'll be 24w and a cantaloupe! I've never heard the 24 week viability thing but I'll buy it!
rants/raves/symptoms: Contractions. Contractions. Contractions. Pressure. Pressure and more pressure.  People are saying I have the pg glow but it's after I've put on makeup so I don't know if it's natural or made up.
upcoming appointments: Possibly tomorrow. I'll hopefully be getting a concrete gameplan for my contractions and bed rest.
questions for the group: Gtky: Are you and your SO going to do anything special, just the two of you, before LO arrives? We are going (hopefully) to KY this weekend to surprise a close friend at his police academy graduation. Other than that I highly doubt it. We've got DD's 3rd birthday, maternity pics, and the shower to plan for so I don't think there is time.

  • @vinerie We have the Jeep jogger and LOVE it. I will say that it is a bit bulky so we got the Jeep umbrella stroller (I call it a rinky dink one bc it takes very little room and is easy to flip out and in). I don't think you can put an infant in the umbrella stroller though. We put DD's carrier in the bulky stroller (which made me feel better bc it's very stable) and it has a safety harness just for the carrier which is nice.

  • @hellogoodbye2 no- I saw it being used around the neighborhood. I'll try to keep an eye out though!
  • week/ fruit: 24 / cantaloupe!

rants/raves/symptoms: feeling great! No rants! Feel baby kicking ALL the time and loving it. My dog has to move in the middle of the night because she kicks him (he plasters up against my stomach at night).

upcoming appointments: glucose test in February - can't wait...

questions for the group: none currently

Gtky: Are you and your SO going to do anything special, just the two of you, before LO arrives? Yes! We are actually off to Chicago for 4 days this week! It wasn't our Jamaica trip that we had to cancel for the end of April, but we are still excited to get away just the two of us nonetheless
  • @hellogoodbye2 have you seen the uppa baby? Not sure what your budget is but its thin and pushes easily. The other one that's thinner is the city select. Maybe worth checking out?
  • week/ fruit: 23 weeks/Grapefruit

rants/raves/symptoms: Kicks come in the 1am hour for about an hour....fun times! Sleeping still inconsistent since I am determined to sleep on my left side which keeps giving me problems. On a brighter note, I'm almost done with the nursery. I still need a glider and the bedding in terms of things on my must have list.

upcoming appointments: Feb 15th....dreading the glucose test

questions for the group: none that I can rhink of now

Gtky: Are you and your SO going to do anything special, just the two of you, before LO arrives? I would like to do a weekend road trip type getaway but we'd already planned a couples trip to New Orleans in March pre-finding out we're expecting so I doubt it.
  • I have yet to participate in a weekly check in and thought I should probably join in the fun!

    week/ fruit: 24-Cantelope

rants/raves/symptoms: starting to get back pain on my left side when I am on my feet for a long time, tried a shopping trip with my SO this weekend and I couldn't cut it anymore! :(  Still getting sick and I totally missed the toilet yesterday and didn't want my boyfriend to see it so I was throwing up and cleaning up vomit pretty much at the same time! AWESOME!!  but feeling my baby girl moving around and actually seeing my stomach moving from it makes up for all the crappy stuff!

upcoming appointments: Thursday for regular ob appointment

    questions for the group: None

Gtky: Are you and your SO going to do anything special, just the two of you, before LO arrives? we are leaving for New Jersey on Feb 12 for our "Kevin Smith geek adventure"  My boyfriend and I are really into all the Kevin Smith movies, ie Clerks, Mallrats, Chasing Amy, etc.  (I mean the man did introduce the world to Matt Damon AND Ben Affleck so we should all worship him! lol)  So we are going to his Comic Book store in Red Bank and then to the Quik Stop convenience store that the movie Clerks was filmed in.  It doesn't seem like much but were excited to take a trip together before baby arrives!

  • week/ fruit: 25/cauliflower

rants/raves/symptoms: I've been having a lot more BH contractions, and they're starting to hurt. We've had a ton of stuff going on in the past couple of weeks, so I think I just need to take it easy for a couple of days. Otherwise, I'm feeling lots of baby kicks, which had been fun.

upcoming appointments: Not till mid-February for growth check and glucose test.

    questions for the group: Nope

Gtky: Are you and your SO going to do anything special, just the two of you, before LO arrives? Nothing planned. MIL will be here for a week in February, though, so maybe we can at least go to a nice dinner or something while she watches DD?

@AliciaD39 I always fall asleep on my side and then wake up on my back! I don't think it's a huge deal.. Most of us are moving around all the time trying to get comfortable and probably not in any one position for too long.
  • week/ fruit: 25/cauliflower

rants/raves/symptoms: Started throwing up again on the regular. Not cool. Though I will say that a few of those times have been because Baby Luna headbutts me very violently in the stomach and diaphragm. Thanks baby!

upcoming appointments: I had one last week so my next one isn't until 2/8. I have lost a total of 28lbs compared to pre-pregnancy weight, Baby is 1lb 5 oz, HB of 144, my BP at home and in office has been stable at an average of 110/70, urine looks great, blood work looks great, we were able to schedule the RCS and tubal ligation for April 20th and I am feeling pretty awesome (despite the aforementioned return of MS). I do have to do the 1 hr glucose tolerance test at some point next week so we will see how that goes. Not looking forward to that disgusting glucose drink. Blech!

questions for the group: None at the moment...but the day is young!

Gtky: Are you and your SO going to do anything special, just the two of you, before LO arrives? We really have just focused on fun stuff to do with our son as his last hurrah as an only child. We are going to Legoland, the Aquarium, the Children's Museum, the Curious George store, and might head back up to North Conway to see the train museum and have a nice dinner at the place where MH and I got married. We went there when I was pregnant with my son and then again last year so it is a nice tradition.

    week/ fruit: 24/cantaloupe

rants/raves/symptoms: baby boy seems to have had a growth spurt! he's super active and I can feel him so much more now which I love (except for when he dances on my bladder and kicks me in the vagina, but hey...). Sleeping is becoming more difficult and I feel like I turn over about 100 times every night. Starting to feel like a rotisserie chicken.

upcoming appointments: Feb 1 for my glucose screening

questions for the group: none at the moment

Gtky: Are you and your SO going to do anything special, just the two of you, before LO arrives? We had talked about it but we decided to spend the money on the nursery and my dream stroller instead. We took a bunch of pre-conception trips last summer so that will have to count!
  • @vinerie every time we've gone to Chicago it's in dead winter (we are obviously great planners  ) - it seems to be the only time DH aren't crazy at work. I'm just going to revolve the trip around food options
  • I need to add a symptom. My boobs ITCH sooooo  much. I'm driving down the road, praying no one can see my put my hand down my shirt to scratch every other minute. UGH. Is anyone else experiencing this? Is there a way to handle it without feeling like I have poison ivy?

Yes my boobs are so freaking itchy I can't stand it! I just try to keep lotion on them (even though they aren't dry, just itchy)...idk it at least deters me from scratching constantly lol
  • week/ fruit: 24/cantaloupe

rants/raves/symptoms: We made it to viability!!! Also one of my student's (I work at a university) friends from another school came to visit last week and this student told me today that the girl visiting thought I as at least 6 years younger than I actually am.

    upcoming appointments: none right now

    questions for the group:

Gtky: Are you and your SO going to do anything special, just the two of you, before LO arrives? Not in terms of a babymoon or anything. We just bought a house in September and have been working on a few renovations. The new flooring for the upstairs bedrooms is FINALLY going in today (it has been sitting in our house for over a month)!! We can now put all the nursery furniture in the nursery!

@vinerie We got the Graco Modes Sport and will probably also get a B.O.B. Revolution off of Craigslist eventually. I think the GMS will be great most of the time but we do go to the beach at least once or twice a year with DH's family and we also like to trail hike so I think we will need the more rugged tires for that. I have seen some used ones in really great condition for a decent price where we are. The biggest issue we found when searching for a stroller was having enough storage room underneath and still having it be a reasonable price. Even some of the more expensive ones couldn't fit one of my larger purses which is at least the size of a diaper bag.

@YouGoGlenCoco31 I am in the same exact boat you could have written my post for me this week, so here goes:

Sorry haven't posted here in a few weeks!

    Wk: 22

Rant/rave: I'm not feeling that much movement either w/my LO but he sure does move a ton whenever I have an ultrasound!!!

Appointment: check up and glucose challenge in a couple weeks

    No questions

GTKY: nope we are much too busy, but we are appreciating our time alone together (even just to watch a movie or go to dinner) we are very aware that these opportunities will be much less frequent very soon!!
