Help me understand

A friend of mine asked if I was going to do a maternity boudoir shoot. After I laughed my ass off, I said no but then I was thinking...do people actually do that? She said she did and that she did several sexy poses in nothing but see-through lingerie (or even less in some shots). Is this real? Has anyone done this?

I feel self-conscious in straight up clothes these days and think I would hate boudoir pictures in my current state. Not saying that they wouldn't be beatiful for some women buuuuuut I'm not one of them. :#

  • nope, not gonna do it.  If I had to do it, I'd rather be in good shape, thank you.  What did her hubby think?

  • Oh God no. If I was Gisele, maybe. But clearly I'm not.
  • I feel huge pregnant so I wouldn't want to get them done. I've thought of doing them for when I was in my best shape just to document my younger body I guess. But I'll probably never do them. My best shape might be in the past. LOL But yes, I've seen them done. Being pregnant is a beautiful thing but my almost naked pregnant body sure isn't!

She claims that he loved them and keeps two on display in his closet. I'm not sure how to feel.

All of this! I think it's awesome that some women actually do this, but I will never be one of them.

I have heard that some guys are really into the pregnant look. If my H was one of them, I might at least think twice about it, but since he likes to remind me "woah, you're getting huge!" and jokes that I'm almost too heavy to lift (affectionately of course lol), I think I'm in the clear ;).

  • A pregnancy boudoir shoot is just not for me. I have never felt less sexy in my life.

My BFFs gifted me with a boudoir shoot as a wedding present when I was in the best shape of my life and even that was a challenge to take seriously. It was very g-rated as far as boudoir shoots go, I have always been a bit of a prude and I never would have signed up for it on my own. In the end though, I am so glad that I did it and I would encourage anyone to do it (when not pregnant). I created a photo book from the shoot that I gave to my H as a wedding present and it is his most prized possession. I may have to look at it when I get home to remind myself of what I used to look like before I gave my body over to the LO.

That's a fun gift idea! I would definitely do it, just waaaay after pregnancy has concluded. And that's if I bust my butt to get in shape.

I have to admit, if I was one of those girls that basically looks like a twig that swallowed a basketball then I would at least consider doing them- really tasteful ones anyway (no actual nudity shown or anything). However, Since I am only 23 weeks along and already feel like shamu, I will not be partaking
  • Yeah...no. My stretch marks are taking over my entire body right now. No way would I want that memorialized!
  • I did a boudoir shoot while NOT pregnant and while it did make me feel sexy for a period of time and some of the pictures turned out great and my SO loves them.. I still had a hard time feeling comfortable so personally, I would not want to do one while pregnant. If my SO loves seeing me pregnant so much then I'll let him take his own snap shots or stare at my "bump selfies". I plan to do a maternity shoot with him and I think those pictures will be well worth the money because they'll still be beautiful and memorable and those I can share with friends and family. Boudoir... not so much.

I agree with this. I did one for DH for Valentine's Day after we got married, before kids. I expected it to be incredibly awkward, but it was actually pretty fun.

So my H does seem to be into it. But sometimes he rubs/caresses my belly and it is SUCH a turnoff!

That's a pretty picture but...... what's with the pool of milk? Are her boobs leaking that much? Is it bukkake? Does she have bad pregnancy cravings for milk to the point that she wants to swim in it? Is it Miley Cyrus?

    ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww

  • @TheThornBird , I had to look bukkake up. I guess thanks for the education???

  • A few years a go one of my bigger friends did one of these shoots, her pictures were so incredible!!! She was well posed, made up, great lighting and honestly she inspired me to do them and I'm totally going to!!! I haven't taken many pregnancy pictures, but I feel like if a professional takes them I might actually get some pictures I like!!!
  • Nope. Would never do it.

I think there are only two pictures of me pregnant with my first, one was my baby shower.

I'm a sweaty manatee...why would I want to preserve that image?

LOLZ. This all the way. Between my face breaking out, stretch marks galore, swelling, being huge. Nope.

I'm so jelly of the women who look amazing pregnant. Just not me.

  • If I could afford it I would do it in a heart beat! My husband loves the visual confirmation of his manhood ;) and that makes me feel good even on the disgusting, hairy, pimply days. Not to mention, this may be our last, so it would be nice to commemorate it in that way. To look back and remember the beauty of carrying a child would be nice for both of us. (Any good photographer will use photoshop for the not so great stuff!)
  • I would do it! Actually, I am kind of planning to. Why? Because a pregnant body is beautiful whether you feel like it is or not!
It's not about what others think, it's about how you feel!
  • Nope. Not for me. This just makes me think of that awful sculpture of Britney Spears. I didn't even get maternity photos at all with my first and probably won't with this one, so maternity lingerie photos are a big no here.

I have my H take some every pregnancy. I'm built like a 12 year old boy -- except when I'm pregnant. It's nice to look back and see myself as voluptuous and I do feel sexy. To be clear, I have varicose veins on my vagina, cellulite on my ass, and stretch marks all over the place. Whatever. I'm rocking what I've got.

  • Personally, I had a difficult time feeling confident, beautiful, and sexy before pregnancy so I find it hard to imagine that with my current self esteem I could stand in front of someone else's camera and put on a "Victoria's Secret" face. However, we all have our own secret selfies and when I run across them in my photo gallery i get to look back and realize that I was beautiful and thin and sexy at a time not so long ago so what would be different now, besides pregnancy. So on the other hand, it might be worth a try because maybe I would want to look back and embrace what are now my insecurities in the future.

I know! My husband has been loving me being pregnant! (I should do it more often lol). This might be TMI but sometimes I send him nudies lol... It's that whole barefoot and pregnant thing that gets him so excited. ( sometimes I'll wear an apron :o )
