So much pain :(

Ok, this isn't my first rodeo with hemorrhoids but, I've never had it this bad.
I have ibs and with my ibs comes constipation and other glorious things.
My entire pregnancy I only had one ibs attack thankfully! I was able to eat what I wanted and where I wanted to (before I wasn't able to eat at restaurants my ibs is THAT bad)...
Today, I am three weeks post partum and I've been struggling with a hemorroid since about two weeks pp.... I've tried everything that used to work to settle it down and nothing is helping...
I've tried flushable wet wipes to wipe.. Hemmorroid wipes with witch hazel, hot showers, and warm compresses. That used to work before and I could actually go to the bathroom...
My ibs decided to flair up today.....
I literally cried from the pain of having to go #2... I'm still hurting,
I don't know what else to do to ease this pain....
My mom told me to wrap an ice cube in a wipe and put it against my hemorroid and as weird as it sounds I'm .5 seconds away from doing just that.

Can anyone give me tips. It's getting to the point where I'm scared to go to the bathroom...
Even when I have to potty my hemorroid throbs just from sitting on the toilet.

Please, someone help :(

  • If you haven't tried it you might want to try a sitz bath. But it might be one that won't shrink back up. Hemorrhoids never fully go away, they just shrink and become easier to deal with/forgotten until they show their ugly head again. If it is really bad and won't shrink you may need to see your doctor. So far mine always shrink back up, however, my brother has had to have many removed.

  • You need to see a doctor, because those knots can get pinched and inflame even more. Not sure if this kinds of drugs are available in US, but in Germany was a drug used for hemorrhoids and varicose veins, somehow it helps drain them
  • I'm ok with it shrinking as long as it stops hurting!!
It kind of went down yesterday or the day before and when I went #2 it didn't hurt as bad... That's when it flared up again and the witch hazel stopped working.
I have a pp appt the 26th I just need to make it that long..
I'll try a sitz bath- I've heard adding baking soda helps with the pain..
It just hurts so damn bad!

@LIly436 the only thing I've heard of in the US is just a cream to rub on it :-/
  • Order the squatty potty asap, it should make going a lot easier. And stool softeners if you aren't taking them yet.
  • I bought some the other night but I haven't started taking them.
    I'll take some today.
I can't afford a squatty potty :-/ I'll try to find a "home made" something to use instead.

Got a box or a bathroom garbage can you can turn upside down?
  • I second the idea behind squatty potty, I just used a stool to put my feet on. Another awesome Jan bump mom recommended this and it was an immediate game changer for me to remove that awful pressure when I go.
  • Resto-Lax and a little stool or box for your feet. And make sure you are drinking lots of water, eating high fibrous foods.
  • Everyone has already covered it pretty well. I just wanted to say that I have suffered from them during my last two pregnancies. Icing them did help the pain a lot, but I did have to have 2 removed. One got to be the size of a quarter, and the other was nearly the size of a silver dollar.

  • I just had my first experience with them and they were horrific! I was using a cream and it was working ok but I was just in so much pain. My neighbor who just had her 3rd baby told me to use coconut oil with just a drop of peppermint oil and then just apply to the issue. It actually works. The peppermint oil is intense at first but it's worth it.
  • I also read about the squatty potty and just bought a cheap foldable step stool for the bathroom, and it's helped so much! I'm also taking stool softeners daily and benefiber 1x daily with a meal and lots of water! But I've totally felt your pain and i hope you feel better soon!
  • Put a tucks pad in the freezer, then tuck it into your tush and wear it there.
  • I've had horrific hemorrhoids this time around and the best help I've found so far is wet wipes when you go, get off the pot as soon as you're done, and prep H pads with ointment throughout the day. If I put the cream on before bed and leave it overnight it helps a lot. One day was so bad it felt like I had a golf ball stuck in my bottom. I also let the warm water run over them for a few minutes before I get out of the shower. I've found sitting on something firm enough to give counter pressure helps the pain and speeds up the shrinking. Sorry yours are so bad, I totally feel for you. Get better soon.
  • Would coconut oil alone work (sans peppermint?)

I have little advice, but am here to say you're not alone.
If ANYONE has sympathy for you, it's me. Sincerely.

I've had diarrhea constantly for 120+ hours now and you can imagine the toll that has taken on my behind. I had one hemorrhoid PP with my daughter that flared up from time to time, but now? Now I am a week out from my due date and have a cluster trail heading from one hole to the other ... SO LOOKING FORWARD TO DELIVERING WITH THAT!!!!!

    I have been treating with
    - hot baths with either table salt or epsom salt
    - hemorrhoid ointment
    - ice packs

Good luck ... and let me know if you come across any sort of miracle cure!
  • Ladies, if you have H so serious, that it does not get better from ointment and making your stools soft - you need to see a doctor. First of all it is a condition which can turn into a gangrene, second - it can be helped. It is not normal to suffer like you describe. If doctor does not advise anything useful, insist on seeing a proctologist
  • Might be time to make an appointment with a proctologist (a butt doctor) but seriously though, it could be just hemorrhoids but that area is their specialty.
  • I *may* be on the path to defeating the beast.
I took two stool softness last night after feeling a little constipated-
This morning I have a HUGE tummyache BUT when I went to the bathroom it didn't hurt nearly as bad.
Hopefully it doesn't flare back up with the way my tummy is aching today..

    Screw you sensitive tummy..
  • These help a lot with hemorrhoids - take 'em 1-2x per day.

  • I'm having mine removed as soon as I am cleared by the doc after baby is born. I can't take the flare-ups anymore. It will be my "push-present" to myself.
