I was tricked so bad last night. I have been going through prodromal labor but last night was so intense. I got about 2 to 3 hours of sleep with contractions 2 to 5 minutes apart! My back was in the worse pain. I had an appointment this morning and she was going to strip my membranes but baby has not even dropped I guess and I'm only a finger tip dialated and 70% effaced. All those contractions for no change in dialation. Ugh!!! I'm being induced in 9 days. I'm hoping he decides to come out before and stop tricking momma. Poor baby going through all these contractions. I hope he isn't stressed. Got to wait till next wednesday for the non stress test.

  • @EzrieeMay sounds like we're in the exact same boat. I had a brutal night last night and today has been most frustrating. Same back pains; they're radiating down my legs and across my abdomen. But, timing of them is all over the place! Sometimes every 8 minutes, sometimes 10, and sometimes it's 25-30 minutes! They're not fun or easy at all. I'm scheduled for NST next Wednesday and induction on the 23rd. Really hoping I don't have to go through this until then. I'm exhausted!!

@saraawlbr I feel your pain. This is so unfair. I feel like I'm never going to know when to go in. My contractions have been more through out the day today. I'm sorry you have to go through this too. It seriously is no fun. Hopefully you and I can both go into labor tonight. Wouldn't that be nice? Both of us are scheduled on the same days for NST and induction. Were they able to strip your membranes?
  • I'm 40+11 and being induced tomorrow at 12 days over. Was really hoping baby would make an appearance as can no longer have a water birth but oh well guess these things happen. Just want him to be safe and sound. It's been a tough old few weeks, envy those women that just go into labour naturally! Good luck ladies x
  • @EzrieeMay no. Haven't had a sweep yet. That'll happen next Thursday if still no baby. Despite how uncomfortable I am...I don't want to force her out if she's not ready. At least not until she's had enough time to come out on her own. It'll just be long a gruelling waiting if this keeps up....which I believe it will!

  • Feeling a bit defeated! Just had my stretch and sweep. Yeooowch! Cervix is still high, barely 1cm but soft at least, so they couldn't really do the sweep so effectively but gave it a good stretch! Lots of bleeding thanks to my ectropian cervix. Will go back in for another stretch and sweep Sunday, and then booked in for induction Monday afternoon. Gel Monday, then pitocin drip Tues morning. Really was not mentally prepared to have the induction talk to be honest. Also I have an intense aversion to having an IV in, which was my main reason for wanting to go with a drug free birth. Plus I get a lot of nausea from painkillers. So that has really thrown my little plans out the window. For some reason I Was convinced Bub would arrive early, so coming to the realisation that Inmay very well be induced has really thrown me. Going to go for a few long walks today hoping that will get things going, but it doesn't help that it's currently 40 degrees Celsius outside. I guess now is as good as time as any to learn to 'go with the flow'..

Can my husband have the baby next time around??! Lol :(
  • Officially 40 weeks today. Been 3cm dilated and 85% effaced for the last two weeks. Had been having irregular contractions until last Friday...since haven't even had as much as BH. It seems my body is taking a break. I feel refreshed so I think it's time to kick things into high gear now. ;) if I go past this weekend I will have my NST evaluation Monday and discuss an induction date as my doctor won't let me go past 41 weeks.
  • 41 weeks and had my biophysical today. My fluid level was too low so they are inducing me now. I'm super nervous but they said my cervix is favorable so I'm hopeful my body will start labor on its own after a little medicine
  • I had my membranes stripped last Tuesday and have been 2 cm and 80% for 3 weeks. Spotting off and on since. Just hit 40W yesterday, spent the entire day with BH every 10 minutes which I was able to sleep through last night. Woke up this am with painful contractions every 4-6 minutes, walked around had sex, contractions lasted most of the day, totally thought this would be the day. They never intensified. And now I am back to BH every 10 or so.... My body is teasing me!
  • @jeanbug12 I'm so so sorry about your fur baby :( Mine got really sick and lost his battle when I was 28 weeks along. It was horrible but I'm glad I didn't have a little baby to be taking care of while I was grieving. His last day got to be just me and him laying in bed all day. You guys are in my thoughts :pensive:

40 weeks tomorrow. Not dilated at all. Kind of convinced he's just going to live in my womb forever. I did have what I would describe as back contractions today, so THATS GREAT. Ugh why can't pregnancy be how it is in the movies. Water breaks, rush to hospital, push baby out in a couple hours.
  • Officially joining the 40+ crew today! No contractions or labor signs for me at all! Slightly crampy yesterday after walking about a mile, but that fizzled out! I was only fingertip dilated and 60% effaced on Wednesday. Hoping something starts happening this weekend and we don't make it to our next appt on Tuesday, but im not getting my hopes up yet.
  • Warning it's a long one..
40+8 today. Woke early this morning with contractions and a bloody show, contractions were about 12 mins apart and I could still breath through them.

I had a sweep booked in for 9.30, 1st one I've had and really wasn't as bad as I was expecting, midwife advised cervix nice and flat and soft and between 2-3cm dilated. She could touch baby's head and completed sweep she said waters are bulging and will flood when they go, nice (sorry for tmi).

After sweep I had contractions most of the day about 8 mins apart and quite intense and also a lot more show, went for a walk, bounced on my ball and was waiting for them to get to 5 mins then was going to head for hospital but no, contractions stopped instead :'( they haven't started back up yet either. I was so excited I thought today was the day.

I have another sweep booked in on Monday morning and if no joy then I will be induced on Friday when I will be exactly 42 weeks. I've been reading a lot about the 'latent' phase and everything that's happened seems 'normal' I'm just so disappointed i'm so ready to meet my little man/lady (team green) it's unreal yet he/she just keeps making mammy wait!!
  • Long story!!

Finally brought baby Lucy into the world last night January 15 at 10:18pm. Contractions (all in my back, all of the time) started at about 8:30 am on Thursday morning but were pretty far apart (20-30mins). By dinner time they were getting closer and closer. Once we passed 11 pm on Thursday they were about 5-7 minutes apart so we called the midwife. She had us come see her at the hospital to be assessed but, we were sent home because I was still only 1cm dilated. So, I laboured at home in excruciating pain until about 11:30 am on Friday morning when I started also vomiting with nearly every third contraction. Called the midwife again and she told us to come right in. Arrived at the hospital and got checked 4-5cm dilated YAY! Got my epidural almost immediately and was smooth sailing until push time.

Baby was sunny-side up and no matter how hard I pushed she wouldn't budge. Vacuum was tried but popped off twice. Then they brought the forceps out. It was awfulllll but she came almost immediately with the forceps.

Unfortunately Lucy's breathing wasn't great and I had some problems with bleeding so we didn't get to meet until this morning. But she's doing great and I'm on the mend. In no hurry to go through that again but she's totally worth it!!

  • Hey ladies!!
40 weeks and 3 days here!!
Fingers crossed I am on the way
Feeling a lot of pressure on my cervix
    Back pain increasing a lot
And losing clear mucus daily for last 4 days.
    Bump still not dropped though.
Little one still has daily hiccups
But movement is almost sleepy now like he's resting for the big event.
Starting to worry about the decrease in movement but I'm still counting 10 moves in 2 hours
    How are y'all doing??
  • Ugh.... Am I the only one left with a January 5th due date? I'm 41.5! Time is slowing to a crawl. My bio physical profile is Monday morning, followed by my regular visit with my mid wife. Where we will be discussing my time line. I can see my vbac just slipping away :( I don't don't want to risk out of my midwives care. This is really messing with my emotions being a Pgal. I know that labor can be bolt from the blue, but I have had no sign of labor. Well, other than some BH which I have had all along. I'm drinking raspberry tea and have been taking evening primrose oil. I have bounced myself silly on my ball, and other than toned thighs I haven't gotten any results. My pelvic pain has reach a new level of intolerable. I need some good vibes!
  • @Hipshaker have no fear! I am 41.1, pgal, and had one round of biophysical, non stress, and amniotic fluid index already. My physicians know I would like a vbac and due the nature of my scientific brain, I have calculated the possibility of cesarean. If I am induced using cervadil followed by pitocin, my chances this coming Thursday are only 19.4% higher than if labor began spontaneously. That is actually on the high side statistically. I keep reminding myself that when it comes down to my ultimate goal, a healthy me and healthy baby take priority. Sending you, and all of us over 40 positive vibes.
  • I'll officially jump in. I was due January 15. Today is the 17th. They gave me the option at my appointment on the 14th to check if im dilated. Of course I declined. I had a lot of cramping but that has subsided. No contractions. I'm just very antsy and kind of wish i could go to work
  • 40+2 here and getting really frustrated. I know it's "normal" to be late with your first, but I my SIL who was due on the 24th had her baby 3 days ago and my girlfriend who was due the same day as me, the 15th, is having her baby now. It just makes it so hard to wait when others around me are going in to labor and my labor is nowhere in sight! I'm not dilated or effaced and Doctor only said cervix has started to soften. Ugh make it stop! I want the pregnancy part to be over already!!
  • 40w4d today. Have our next appt. Tomorrow and will have another check then. Yesterday was exhausting...almost 24 hours of contractions that amounted to nothing. Went in at about 20 hour mark and was told dialated only 1.5 centimeters which was only .5 centimeters more than last Thursday. Got sent home with a muscle relaxer so I could get some sleep. Scheduled for an induction in the middle of the night wednesday. Just counting down to that in my head, but after yesterday not looking forward to the pain that will return, although that way I will know that I will for sure be leaving with a hopefully happy and healthy baby girl!

I'm trying to stay positive, my appointment is in the morning so the never ending weekend is over. I'm just keeping busy getting light housework finished and things prepped in case I get sent to L&D.

I can empathize! My BFF had her lo at 40wks exactly 6 days before my EDD on 1/5. I was super emotional for two days (I cried and and had a pity party for myself actually) then I got over it. I was thinking I didn't have long to go and I felt better. Now at 41.5, 41.6 in two hours, I have just resigned myself to the fact that I will be pregnant until I'm not. I'm just gonna live hour by hour and pray.
  • Well tomorrow will be 40 weeks for me. But what's messing with me more is that I had DS 3 days before my due date, so I (foolishly) assumed this LO would be here by now. I've had mild contractions for a few days and I feel like I have permanent BH contractions, but nothing ever comes of them. I was fine over the weekend but now that it's Monday and DH goes back to work I'm like NOOOOOOO. I feel so bad for DS because I'm exhausted and it's freezing out so we've been couped up inside a lot. I have a tentative induction scheduled for Friday (which also happens to be my birthday), but I'm really hoping he or she comes before then!
  • Tomorrow is due date... so I'm posting a little early but there has been ZERO sign of anything so I suspect baby will be waiting a while longer. I've had some painful BH that were about 5 mins apart but that's about it, besides the continuous lightning crotch. I'm all for baby coming when baby wants but my count down day will be gone and I have nothing to "look forward to" (I mean an end goal date). Might request an induction be scheduled just so I have something to fixate on (even though I'd really rather let babe come on it's own)... blah baby COME ON ALREADY!

  • @WineBaby122 and @sarahbeara25 I'm in the same boat. Due date tomorrow and no signs or symptoms at all! I'm anxious about my dr appointment tomorrow to see if I've made any progress. My dr won't induce until 41 weeks. *waiting*
  • I've been thinking this baby is coming since Saturday when I started to lose my plug. That's what happened with my son anyway. But nooooo. Today I have finally progressed from cramps to timeable contractions but they started at 3:30 am and are still inconsistent and like 10 min apart. I don't think she's ever coming out and I'm quite uncomfortable just lingering on like this. Ugh!

    Anniversary

  • 40+3 and no contractions
  • I'm officially part of the 40+ club now! After trying out multiple natural ways to jumpstart labor all last week, I'm finally accepting that there's really nothing I can do if this baby wants to stay put for now. I'll probably still eat pineapple, but simply because it's delicious and I have been craving fruit basically the whole pregnancy. Acceptance rather than frustration feels good. And I'm happy she's full term and healthy. Now that I'm officially not working, I just gotta figure out how to take advantage of all the (limited) time I have - be lazy and watch tv/play video games, or be productive and clean/get things done?
  • 40w+5 induction in 5 days if baby doesn't come out. I'm so stressed and exhausted because last night I was having intense cramps so bad to the point where I couldn't walk and baby felt as though he was stabbing me in my butt, back and mainly my cervix. I was also having regular 5 minutes apart contractions that were hurting my back pretty bad as well as abdominal area but still nothing. I'm starting to think something is wrong. I have been going through this for a couple weeks but it is getting more intense each night I go through this. I really hope I won't have to be induced. Is there any reason why I'm not progressing into "real" labor?
  • Is anyone still working past their due date? My last day was supposed to be Friday. As of tomorrow I'll be 40+ weeks. I am planning on taking a personal day tomorrow for my doctor's appointment but I'm struggling with whether or not to go back to work on Wednesday. On the one hand, it would be nice to take time off for myself and get away from people asking me when the baby will arrive but on the other hand, I could be making money and not using days from my maternity leave. At this point, I have no idea when she will arrive. It could be days or weeks. My doctor won't induce until after 41 weeks.
  • @lrayas Assuming you're in the US, there's no way your doctor will let you go past 42 weeks, so at most you'd be using 2 weeks of your mat leave. I think it's worth it to relax your body and see if labor happens naturally without work stress if you can afford it. I'm not planning on working past my due date if LO isn't here yet.

  • I just finished my last day of work today (my boss let me work from home the past week & I enjoyed having something to do during the day while I was waiting)! Scheduled to go to hospital tmrw at 41w at 5pm to start the induction process. From what I've gathered they will start "cervical ripening" (I think that's the cervadil drip) tmrw evening and then other induction methods beginning Wednesday morning. I'm excited, nervous, and a whole bunch of other emotions! I just can't wait to meet my little boy! Hoping it all goes smoothly!! Good luck to everyone else too!!
  • Unless I deliver in the next few mins, I am officially 40 weeks...never have been pregnant this long and this is #3! Weeks of false labor and only at 2cm last week...im not holding my breath. I have an appointment tomorrow and an nst so hopefully the sweep works and baby looks good. I'm wanting a water birth so induction complicates that. Come on baby!!!

I am still working, I will be 40+5 and at work tomorrow unless I end up in L&D tonight! I work a pretty physical job and am on my feet almost all day, but I still feel fairly comfortable and feel I am capable of doing my job. I worked past my due date with my last 2 pregnancies. It helps me keep my mind off being overdue and I want all the time I can get home with my baby when he decides to come!

You can do things to try and make it progress, specifically walking around! Have you had a cervical check recently? You might be dilated enough that if you went to the hospital they just give you a little assistance progressing...
  • At my 38 week appointment I wasn't dilated or anything, and they had to cancel my 39 week appointment. Now I'm 40+2. I have an appointment tomorrow so hopefully I'm dilated & she'll sweep my membranes. I don't want to be induced, so I really want this little guy to decides to come out before I have to.
  • 40 weeks 6 days today - no signs of labor
Induction set for tomorrow - I'm so nervous!
  • @lrayas I am 41+3 today, induction scheduled for Thursday night. I am working through Wednesday :) I am not taking any maternity leave without my wee one here! It depends on how you're feeling and your level of support. Do what feels right for you.
  • NOW I'm officially 40 weeks. Membrane sweep yesterday (1 cm dilated) then lots of cramping. Today I've been losing BIG chunks of mucus plug and lots of lower back pain through the night. I would be so very happy if little one would just come today. Daddy is still on days off and this would give his work time to get his vacation time in order.
