FTM in terrible distress: was told 1 of my unborn twins has a birth defect

Has any other mom been told the devastating news at a 2nd trimester ultrasound that one of your babies had a serious birth defect? If so, I would love to hear your experience and any advice you can give.

When we went in for my 18 week appt to find out the sexes of our twins, the doc also checked anatomy which we weren't expecting. The doc basically said baby b might have Down syndrome. He also started pushing termination which royally pissed me off. This is the same doc that hinted towards my firstborn having Down syndrome! Needless to say, and I know you can relate, my pregnancies were very stressful and in a lot of ways ruined. All 3 of my boys from both pregnancies are just fine. I swear if we have a 4th baby I will not be seeing that doctor again. All I can say to you is do your very best not to worry & stress! It's bad for you & babies! What will be will be. Stay positive & embrace whatever has been given to you. I remember for me, the way I turned my stress around was I started reading blogs & books written by parents of special needs children. I became informed & learned to accept it. In the end I didn't need any of it, but in a weird way I feel like I'm a stronger woman because of the experience & preparing for the unknown.

Thanks @SBmomma! I would love to find out that the dr was wrong about his diagnosis but I would be surprised if that happened. Right now we just need more tests to find out the severity of my baby girls heart defect. Praying she's gonna be a fighter and a year from now we will all be smiling and healthy. I am definitely trying to find out moms who had a baby with this defect to form a support system for these next few months and the rest of my baby's life. I don't want to let this news ruin me, my pregnancy or my marriage. So I'm trying to stay hopeful until someone tells me otherwise.
