  • Good grief. I commented earlier and didn't check back in for a while and now it's like world war three has broken loose on this thread. Common ladies. Let's at least keep it civilized. This was supposed to be a fun thread for us to laugh about all the crazy stuff we aren't supposed to do not berate each other over differing opinions. Yikes.
  • I commented a while ago too and came back to this mess.  I also think @courtjack did a great job of emphasizing the posts that "confessed" to wine consumption as not really confessions of wine drinking...these women aren't out getting drunk.  I will also say again what a few others have said ... "No safe documented amount of wine" does not equal "Any amount of wine is unsafe".
  • I've been eating spicy hot wings which may not be the best choice but I am craving the blue cheese dipping sauce!!!! I don't want to give in to it as soft cheeses are a no no. Thoughts?

If its pasturized as most things are in the US its totally 100% okay!
  • theresavdj  - what sgoldberg said.  it should be fine!
but darn you, now i want buffalo wings.

As long as you order extra for me, go for it!
  • This thread has made me glad that I'm one of those people who just doesn't like alcohol. I haven't had any this pregnancy, or my last, but it's totally because I just don't want to (can't remember the last time I voluntarily drank a glass of wine, lol).

Every other 'rule', I've broken. Runny eggs, rare beef, lunch meat, went for weeks in the first tri without eating fruits or veggies, I'd eat sushi but I haven't had the opportunity, now that my MS is done I have the occasional Diet Pepsi, don't drink enough water, and sleep on my back. Oh, and soft cheeses without checking if they're pasteurized (in North America it's next to impossible to find unpasteurized cheeses).
  • Getting my hair done on Monday to handle this grown out blonde highlight situation. I really am tempted to just get an all over color close to my base to even this mess out and be done with it, versus heavy lowlights.

So, add one dose of hair dye to my list.

Ha. Count me for at least three hair dye doses, so far. Oops.

I was never super strict with the "pregnancy rules" during my first pregnancy, but I'm definitely even more lax this time around. #secondchildproblems
  • I just heard this one during a random prenatal workout from YouTube....don't raise your hands too high or the cord could get wrapped around baby's neck. I haven't heard that in years.
  • And the workout was posted in 2014.
  • @crdo just fought my dog to blow dry her. Arms everywhere, your post made my bust out laughing.

    ;)

Bless your heart for blow drying your dog. My 80 lb German Shepherd would flip her sh*t!

@crdo lol, yeah. She's a 25lb cockapoo covered in two and a half inches of solid fluff, no German Shepard, and unfortunately the blow dry is non-optional with her non-shedding rug. She'll dive into the tub, cry until I give her a bath and luxuriate in a long soak and scrub then turn into a banshee from hell the moment the dryer turns on.
    - add 'dog wrestling' to my list of oh no she di'ints.

Ok, I'm alone sitting in the car waiting for take-out laughing out loud at the picture you just painted in my head. Bahaha!

Oh, I hope all of you are avoiding sitting at the corner of tables (you will have a disagreeable child), drinking cold water, getting leg massages every night & keeping your belly very warm - think thick sweaters, long scarves & a fully zippered/buttoned coat.

Please don't be as irresponsible as am I.

Yep. We're totes doomed to be terrible mothers.
  • @HBMama2B- I lovelovelove that you pulled out the "oh no, she di'int"!!

  • Are we not supposed to have herbal teas? I've been drinking kcups of Tazo iced passion on the daily :o

Herbal tea has zero caffeine. Why would herbal tea be a problem? O.o

That being said, caffeine has been the one area I suck at. :l I drink an 8 Oz kcup every morning, sometimes have a diet coke in the afternoon and often forget about not having iced tea, which is always my beverage of choice.

I haven't had a decent turkey sandwich in months, but I have no idea how people can limit caffeine intake when it is in everything b that is good about life??!

@AshleyBKeen it depends entirely on the herb type. Some are great, some are 'not studied' and some have counter productive effects. Generally speaking though they are safe as can be. The mayo site has a great list. :) I have had no caffeine in 7 mths (first for IVF/egg production now for pregnancy.) except for a tiny bit of chocolate around Christmas and on a Sunday. I miss Dr. Pepper.

ETA- this is in no way suggesting others shouldn't have herbal tea or caffeine. FTN. Lol.

I drink iced tea pretty much every day. More than 1 glass too. I love it. The amount of caffeine in iced tea is not nearly the amount in coffee, and people are allowed to have a cup of coffee a day.

I think it's because some herbal tees like the ones with raspberry leaves can cause contractions. I still drink a ton of tea though and iced tea is how I get my h2o intake right now as water still makes me puke.
  • Just wanted to throw out here that I just got chastised by a girlfriend (who doesn't have kids) for eating COOKED sushi because of the risk of cross contamination...  :s

How ridiculous.  What on earth was your response to this?
  • I ate sushi for the first time this pregnancy last night. Granted it was a shrimp tempura crunchy roll, but I also had a couple pieces of DHs spicy tuna roll too. And I DONT EVEN LIKE SUSHI!!! But it was delicious! Haha.
