  • How far along 15.5 weeks

Baby news etc. I think it's still a little early for me to feel movement, especially as a FTM, but I swear that there is something going on down there.

Rants/Raves etc I went to Target yesterday to do some research on strollers and car seats and saw the cutest little yellow sundress. I got very emotional and had a meltdown in the store. I was overwhelmed by the cuteness but also by the amount of options and baby products. Next time, I'm taking a friend for support.

GTKY I've been walking about 2 miles a day and doing some light weight/strength training. Right before I got pregnant I had just started PT for my right knee and ankle so I've been dealing with pain and retraining since then. I have a daily meditation practice which certainly helps with anxiety and pregnancy-aasociated fears. Iam looking forward to a summer baby and hopefully feeling well enough to head up into the mountains for some hiking. At the very least I am almost ready to hit the Blue Hills provided it doesn't snow too much. Keeping my fingers crossed!

I took the harmony blood work Wednesday and waiting a couple weeks for the results. My almost 5 year decided for a boy the baby will be Casey jones and a girl will be April o'neil.

    Rants/Raves/Questions/Concerns?
not too much here. But I do still get sharp cramps every now and then. And why the hell do my nipples have to hurt so damn much.

GTKY: What are you doing to stay active and healthy in both body and mind during your pregnancy? What is something that you might have done before that you are looking forward to doing again?

I work a desk job ao I try to get up to ask questions rather than call/email.
I've been doing WW for almost a year and have only lost close to 20 lbs but I don't have a lot of time to excercise. My OB said it was perfectly fine to continue and even lose weight while on it (according to charts I have about 50lbs to drop). I went down 1.2 lbs this week. So far I've only gained 0.6 lbs and I'm 10 weeks along. Kind of proud of myself there.

I also want to get my pup back into agility training. It's good exercise for both of us and great bonding for her. I did it until about 7.5 months pregnant with my son and I do think it helped from gaining too much (only 21 lbs the entire pregnancy with him).

  • @lillebowski23 I felt the same when registering for my first. My mom and I were just looking at a wall of bottles and pacifiers and BRU just lost. Deer in headlights. So we called a friend who had 3 girls (2 were twins only a couple years old). She helped us out a lot. There's also a book about baby gear that was helpful. There's just so much stuff and a lot is unneeded. I spent 20 minutes convincing my mom that my baby does not need a wipe warmer.

  • Good morning ladies!

How Far Along Are You? 19w3d

Any Baby News You'd Like to Share? Upcoming appts? What's happening in there? I still don't really feel pregnant most of the time. It's taking me a longer to show than most women (I have a teeny tiny bump that mostly looks like I'm fat and is only noticeable if I'm wearing something tight), and I'm not convinced that I'm feeling movement yet. But I had my anatomy scan last week and an OB appointment this week where I heard the HB and had measurements taken, so I know everything's fine.

Rants/Raves/Questions/Concerns? Warning - this may be TMI! I had a really disturbing pregnancy dream before waking this morning that my belly grew so rapidly that it burst and all my intestines were hanging out. I saw a doctor who told me to just put antibiotic ointment on it and then go to the ER for stitches the next morning. Weird...

GTKY: I've managed to keep jogging up to this point. I'm SUPER slow and in the past week I started developing some pelvic discomfort that has cut a couple of my runs shorter than I'd have liked them to be. I bought a belly support band that I'm going to try today and see if that helps. I'm also an avid hiker and hiked the White Mountains in N.H. all through 1st trimester. Counterintuitively that actually helped with exhaustion and nausea (I brought TONS of water and snacks!). The weekend weather hasn't been on my side for the past couple months so it's been a while since I've been out there. @lillebowski23 I hiked in the Blue Hills last weekend! We go there or the Middlesex Fells for quick local hikes when we don't have the time to go further north. This weekend I'll be in VT and NH so I'm going to try to fit in a moderate hike on Sunday (again, weather may not be on our side). It's definitely winter up there now, so we're talking crampons and possibly snowshoes required... I did a bunch of winter hiking last year but it'll be interesting how this goes while pregnant.

In terms of staying mentally well - I sleep as much as I possibly can, often 9+ hours per night. And I talk out my fears and anxieties. Overall I feel really well emotionally, better than I was pre-pregnancy (when I was terrified of infertility) or any time in the past few years, in fact.

I have my first U/S in 10 days and right now that feels like it's FOREVER away. Otherwise, I don't have much going on. My only symptoms are sore boobies, fatigue and getting up several times in the middle of the night to use the restroom.

    Rants/Raves/Questions/Concerns?

I was watching a video yesterday about the breast crawl after birth. Have any of you experienced it? As someone who struggled to establish bfing with both of my kids, I was fascinated!

GTKY: What are you doing to stay active and healthy in both body and mind during your pregnancy? What is something that you might have done before that you are looking forward to doing again?

I work at my desk and pre-pregnancy, most of my physical activity came from running my kids around to their activities. I doubt much will change. I have had to focus more on my mental wellbeing, though. Pregnancy hormones do a number on me. In fact, one of the major reasons that my DH was hesitant to have a third was because I'm a complete lunatic while pregnant. I'm insecure, needy, emotional...and it's already started at 5wks! Last night, something very small happened and I just kept obsessing over it, getting more and more blue. I had to remind myself that this was the pregnancy hormones and that I needed to get a good night's sleep because it would all look different in the morning. I am going to try and make sure that I am well-rested and that I stay aware of my feelings and what's really triggering them.
  • How Far Along Are You? 11w6d

Upcoming appt: Next u/s is on Tuesday at 12w3d, then I make the public announcement.

Rant: I wanted to tell my friends tonight. I sent a FB invite to 11 people on Tuesday, but everyone had some reason that they couldn't make it!  I invited them to dinner at 5:30 (early, I know) and drinks after and one girl said she couldn't come because she has to get up early the next day. Umm...you can't do dinner at 5:30 because you have to wake up early? The funny thing is, that girl got upset once because she found out a friend was pregnant on FB instead of being told personally. ...Well, she's gonna find out FB.

GTKY: I haven't been to the gym since morning sickness hit. I was just starting to feel better when the spotting started, so I postponed my return a bit longer. The spotting lasted 9 days. None yesterday. (Yay!) So I could probably go back now, but I've been exhausted and it's pouring rain today. Since I'm so close to my next u/s and public announcement, I might wait until after that so I can comfortably tell the trainers that I need to take it easy. Soon, gym. Soon...

  • I love the blue hills @lillebowski23!! Isn't it freezing there?

Way to go @Jenniferk08 with WW! Don't stress over the bottles, you too @lillebowski23;) my small piece of advice is your baby could like anyone of those bottles so ding buy more then one, learned that the hard way. My DS loved dr.browns, helps with gas/colic too, but your babe could hate it. And def no need for a wipe warmer!! In reality ur baby needs 5-6 things for the first months, I won't bore you guys with what I think unless you want me too;) but definitely take the advice of friends/family with babies!

I'm having insane dreams too @redheadbride15! They mostly have to do with my husband cheating, grrrr. So strange as he's the most faithful man ever, and I wake up first thing pissed, ha!! Way to kill it with the exercise too!!

What's the great crawl @Ssoccerball?? I had the worst time breastfeeding too:(

I'm 18.4, had my anatomy scan yesterday, all looked good, little girl was waving her hands and moving her mouth all over, like she was chatting, I'm in trouble!! My son has a very chill personality, no way can I have 2 babies like that... Too soon to tell if her heart has any issues so will do a level 2 US in 3rd tri. So I'm relieved for now:) loved seeing her, makes it very real!

I'm a bit nuts about staying in shape, and had to slow down/stop for a few weeks in first tri because of MS, I was extra miserable, if possible. Now all my energy is back and I feel great. Back into T25, bikini body mommy, running and weights. Hubs got me a Fitbit for Xmas, I jokingly asked if he thought I was getting fat! So you can find me at the end of the night doing laps around my 1300sq foot house to get my steps in, I look like a lunatic. I'm trying to keep the weight gain a bit below my last one, the last month I could barely move, being petite, and the sciatica was terrible. I should prob stop going to coldstone!

  • Ha! @Wyattnash00...My phone is forever trying to make me sound like I have no grammar skills, whatsoever!

I have a friend who is a doula and she posted a video from the World Health Organization about the breast crawl. The idea is that all babies have an inherent, instinctual ability to self attach and breastfeed within the hour after birth. When a baby is born, they are dried off (except for their hands) and immediately placed face down on their mother's chest. The smell of the nipple mimics the smell of the amniotic fluid on the hands of the baby and helps the baby root with their hands and mouth. The baby will crawl to mother's breast and eventually self attach and suckle. There are tons of videos on YouTube and it really is amazing. It looks so much more natural than shoving your breast in the mouth of a newborn baby, which is what I did with both of mine and neither one of them were good nursers.
  • @Wyattnash00 You make me feel like a total lazy-ass with that workout routine!

  • @ssoccerball, has an emergency CS, maybe that was the problem, maybe it won't be an issue as this time won't be an emergency...unless I go into early labor, pleeeeease no.

Oh please @redheadbride15!!your the most outdoorsy and athletic person out there! Wish we could get our group together for a little motivation!
    Lilypie Pregnancy tickers
  • @Wyattnash00 I would never describe myself as athletic, but that's nice of you to say. I do like the outdoors but I hate working out and gyms and competitive sports. The winter is tough on me though - I tend to get out of shape. Climbing mountains is pretty much the only thing that motivates me. There's something about the thrill of being on top of the world that can't be beat.

  • How Far Along Are You? 5w 4d. I got my BFP 2 weeks ago today. Feels like 2 years!

Any Baby News You'd Like to Share? Upcoming appts? What's happening in there?

Just waiting for my first appointment. A little over two weeks to go to 2/1! We'll do a dating ultrasound, so I'm excited to get there and see the heartbeat, etc.

Rants/Raves/Questions/Concerns? Just that I am so tired. And feel like time is so slow. And my DH doesn't seem to get it. But whatever. I'm just doing what I need to do. I almost hope for some vomiting, just so he can see how this all really is affecting me! Every time I wish for that, I take it back....but then I wish it again. Haha. I'm crazy.

GTKY: What are you doing to stay active and healthy in both body and mind during your pregnancy? What is something that you might have done before that you are looking forward to doing again?

Work helps with keeping my mind busy--I teach, so there is lots of reading and grading and such to do. I need to be getting to the gym. I have not committed to going, but need to make it happen. I want to be more active this pregnancy than I was last time.

Oh--and re the breast crawl--I got to do that with my LO after an unplanned c-section. It was miraculous how he just scooted himself to my breast and got busy sucking! It took forever for my milk to come in, but other than that, we were blessed with a good nursing relationship. I had talked with my nurse and docs about how important that was to me and they did everything they could to make that sacred hour after birth happen as I wanted it to, even with the c-section. Definitely talk to your docs if you feel like you have specific ideas about what you want. It's your hour! (Steps off soap box--sorry)
  • Argh, @Wyattnash00 now I want Coldstone. I haven't been there in years!

@ssoccerball The breast crawl does sound like a good idea, but I wouldn't want to be topless in front of everyone in the delivery room. It doesn't sound like something you could do discreetly.

  • @carrieandroy--I'm pretty sure I had my hospital gown draped over both of us. But maybe not. But also--it was just DH, me, and the nurses. They had all seen MUCH more by then (part way through my c-section, I said--oh my gosh. I'm totally naked, aren't I?). Haha. I'm a really modest person in real life, but at that moment, it didn't matter. And, you might consider having any other family (besides your DH) leave the room once baby arrives, even if you choose to have them there for the delivery itself. (Again. Stepping off soapbox. Sorry. I'm passionate about getting good mama and baby time after birth. I let WAY too many people meet us at the house when we brought LO home. I ended up an emotional wreck. This time, we're coming home to as few people as possible. But that is all personal preference).

Also--some nausea just set in. I thought I was gonna toss my cookies for the second part of my class. Just ate and feel a little better. Gonna have to start bringing snacks to class.
  • Hopefully ur family will give you a few minutes of alone time post birth @CarrieandRoy?! Is noon too early for coldstone!?
    Lilypie Pregnancy tickers
  • @Sporty1216 I want to have DH, my mom and my sister there. I guess I can have my mom and sister step out. Most women probably don't mind being naked around female family members, but I've always been a bit of a prude. I've gotten used to gyn exams over the years, but I still don't like to be naked all at once for dr's. My derm makes me get fully nude twice a year and my male obgyn accidentally walked in before I put the paper gown on last month. So awkward.

  • Yeah. I totally get that, @carrieandroy! I don't like to get all naked for the docs either! That was why it shocked me so much when I realized I was laying on an operating table totally naked and didn't care! It's probably the thing I am now going to be super self-conscious about this time, since we'll probably do a repeat c-section. And this time, i won't have labored for a day beforehand, so I'll be more aware. Haha.

Anyway. Totally go for the birth plan you want, and hopefully people will be understanding if, in the moment, you change your mind about anything. :)
  • I took my DD home from the hospital and had to bring her back 2 days later because she hadn't had a BM. She was a lazy sucker and just wasn't getting enough breast milk. Anyway, the nurses hooked me up to a pump and made me pump (boobs hanging out for God and all the world to see). It was fairly embarrassing, but at that point I was so worried about my DD, I got over it quickly. Anyway, @CarrieandRoy, I totally get what you are saying about modesty. I think I'd like to just have DH (and medical personnel) in the room for the first hour, anyway. And assuming there is no medical emergency, I'd love to try the breast crawl. @Sporty1216, it's very encouraging to hear from someone that's experienced it!

Any Baby News You'd Like to Share? Upcoming appts? What's happening in there? Doc called today with blood test results - hcg is good but progesterone is low (like last time when I miscarried, but not as low). So, needless to say I'm nervous about this pregnancy even more. They had me schedule and ultrasound immediately to make sure the pregnancy isn't ectopic so I can't start on progesterone supplements. Bleh.

Had my ultrasound last week and saw the little bean waving it's tiny arm buds. It was so precious. Going back Jan. 25 for genetic testing and another ultrasound. My belly has the tiniest bump - most of it's bloat but still...it's exciting. Although all my tanktops are size small and it makes that little bump pretty obvious. I just went and bought some mediums so I can feel more comfortable (and so it's less noticeable). I guess if anyone says anything I'll just say it's holiday weight

    Rants/Raves/Questions/Concerns?
Just trying to take one day at a time. Sometimes I don't feel pregnant and then I panic. Other times I feel so incredibly pregnant - complete with nausea and headaches and mood swings - and then I feel reassured (but miserable). I'm so overwhelmed by the "stuff" out there - strollers, bottles, cribs, etc. I can't even seem to think about it at this stage but I know I'll have to put together a registry at some point... (unless someone on here who has had kids before does one for all of us and we can all just copy and paste it???)

GTKY: What are you doing to stay active and healthy in both body and mind during your pregnancy? What is something that you might have done before that you are looking forward to doing again?
I have to stay active because of my job. I'm an aerial dance teacher and teach about 10 classes a week. I'm leading several warm-ups a day so am getting in a lot of stretch time. I'm still demonstrating moves so am climbing fabrics (don't worry, I'm staying low to the ground), inverting, and doing basic moves. Luckily 2 of my friends know about the baby secret and are in my advanced class so I can use them to demonstrate the more challenging moves. I'm also walking when I can and going to a really rigorous yoga class once a week (I just let my yoga teacher know this past week so he'll be making modifications along the way). One thing I miss is tumbling - I was taking a really fun class but stopped because the movements felt too jarring.

  • How far along? 11 weeks, 3 days

Baby news: None, which is killing me... Still waiting for our Harmony test results and my anxiety is through the roof. Doctor had originally said two weeks, but everything I read online about personal experience said 1 week or less. One week today, so I shouldn't be so impatient, but that's a pretty important phone call and I'm just over the waiting. Now it might be a few days because of the long weekend... Hoping I can stay sane. Not sure why I'm so scared - we don't have any reason other than AMA to worry, but I'm just in knots anyway. Next appointment is Thursday, hopefully with an ultrasound to check the bean's progress, so I'm looking forward to that.

Rants/raves/etc.: I keep waiting for the magical 2nd trimester switch to flip... But it probably doesn't work like that. Still curling up in my bed every chance I get, dreaming of being able to poop. :)

Active stuff: This has been tough with the symptoms going on - about to take my pup on a nice walk, which I've managed to do a bunch of times, but the prenatal yoga and workout series is sitting idle and I really need to fix that.

@Jenniferk08 I did agility with my dog for years - love that sport! Best feeling ever to be a true team with your dog!

@lillebowski23 Did you use a program to get started with the meditation or did you wing it? That sounds helpful!
  • @Infantino22 my dr said the test usually takes about 10 days and it took 8. I hope you get it soon!

Any Baby News You'd Like to Share? Upcoming appts? What's happening in there? At 5w2d/3d or 26dpo my HCg levels 11,162 which is rather high for 5 weeks but I probably ovulated on cd 12. I suppose higher is better then too low, not sure if I will do a repeat test. I have my first midwife appointment sometime in the beginning of February and I am in the process of scheduling my genetic testing and such.

Rants/Raves/Questions/Concerns? Not feeling fantastic but not feeling horrible. Just mildly sore boobs unless I wear and underwire bra for a long time, some fatigue, moments of nausea, and bloating. I wonder if I will escape ms???

Lots of yoga and meditation, and I am happy that I did my prenatal yoga teacher training so I know how to modify my practice this time around. I teach (prenatal yoga) to lots of pregnant women which is really fun for me. I love HITT workouts and still go to my insanity workout at the gym but I don't jump or do a lot of the ab work.

Another good registry resource is lucieslist.com. She has a variety of registries on there (from barebones to luxury--or at least that's what I remember). I used it to plan for my LO and I thought it was super helpful.

And, @tiffanyhr I hope they are able to get you in ASAP and that all goes well!
  • @Infantino22 my DH and I both use the Headspace app. We started with the free 10 for 10 pack and both ended up subscribing for the full app. The full app is totally worth it IMO as it has different meditation exercises for different feelings/goals/whatever. Right now, I am practicing with the pregnancy pack which is a series of 30 10-20 minute guided meditations. I also really like that you can select how long you want a session to kast which is helpful when I am having a busy day.

Thanks to those of you who suggested resources for baby stuff; I went into Baby's R Us and tried out a couple of strollers with no melt downs! I had to contain myself around the little girl outfits and baby bathing suits!
  • @createillumination I had my hcg checked at 5w2d and it was 20,654. So don't worry about yours being high. My dr said some women just produce more hormones than others. They didn't bother doing a second test because it was clear that I was more than doubling. ...You could have twins, but everyone thought that when they saw my super-high hcg and I just have one in there.

I can't believe I am just now finding this group! I have been pretty active in the April '16 and 2nd tri boards, but hello to all my over 35 mammas!! (My people!)

How Far Along Are You?  26w5d

Any Baby News You'd Like to Share? Upcoming appts? What's happening in there? Baby is doing great, lots of wiggling. Sleeping ok, but my allergies are obnoxious (trying to take meds as minimally as possible so I zyrtec-it-up only if I'm dying.)  Next appt is just a check in with the midwife at the end of the month.

Rants/Raves/Questions/Concerns?  Rant - I ordered a stroller on the blind (it's not available to see in-store) and it's not up to par. Now I have to return it and the search continues. Rave - I made some killer chicken yesterday. Also can't stop pouring this delicious sesame salad dressing I recently found all over my spinach and veggies. It's still healthy, it's veggies, you guys.

GTKY: What are you doing to stay active and healthy in both body and mind during your pregnancy? What is something that you might have done before that you are looking forward to doing again?
Prenatal yoga has been awesome both for my body and mind.  I am in the same boat as a PP - I spent so much time stressing about infertility that now I'm just riding this wave peacefully for the most part. I try to walk as much as possible but could definitely do better.

ETA: sleeping on my stomach again. Definitely looking forward to that again!
  • @CarrieandRoy ohhhh yes thanks for saying that! I feel like it's just a singleton and with higher levels, I'd be so shocked if it was twins. I'm just surprised i'm not feeling worse with high numbers, I remember you felt aweful(sorry bout that :/)

2.I had my IPS US Monday and got to see the baby! Had a doctor's appointment in the morning before the US but my heart stood still for a grew minutes when the doctor question my dates and said he couldn't find my uterus at all, this was the first time we heard the HB so t he few minutes it took to find it felt like an eternity.
    3. Same rants as last week so I will try not to whine again. One question though, when ever I try to like posts I get an error message saying I need java script enabled to do that? I am on the mobile app does anyone get this message or have a way around it?
    4. I like to be active but I was having a terrible time keeping liquids down so I really cut back on the intensity and frequency of workouts in late December. Liquids are finally staying down and I am back to 3 good workouts a week. This is amazing for my physical and mental health. I am hoping my need to constantly eat bland white carbs to quell my nausea passed. I normally eat very healthily and have been existing on bland carb heavy foods... While they agree with the baby they do not agree with the rest of me and I hope to get back to cleaner eating soon.

@Jenniferk08 I think 20 lbs is quite an accomplishment

@jilligan14 I found just going into Babies r us and seeing it all in person made it much easier... My registry was very practical with no big ticket items on it, but things like baby wash, diaper cream, soothers, a good thermometer a nose Freida, bath stuff, and also things for older babes... Bibs and spoons and plates and sippy cups really were great to have because those big baby moments arrive quickly. I had no clue going in but having it to see in store really made it easy... My only regret was the hangers... I registered for baby sized hangers and got a tonne... But mostly use dressers and every baby outfit came on a little plastic hanger so they were coming out of my ears...

  • How Far Along Are You? 5 weeks tomorrow

Any Baby News You'd Like to Share? I don't really feel pregnant.

Upcoming appts? The first and third week of February.

    What's happening in there?
     ?

    Rants/Raves/Questions/Concerns?

GTKY: What are you doing to stay active and healthy in both body and mind during your pregnancy? I've usually walk in the morning, taking my dog out before work, so I've added in a second walk in the afternoon when I get home from work. I'm also signing up for a pre-natal yoga class starting this Sunday to replace hot yoga.

What is something that you might have done before that you are looking forward to doing again?
      Drinking wine

  • Had a transvaginal u/s Friday - they squeezed me in at 2:30. So they tell you to drink 32 oz of water before your appointment time, then make you sit and wait nearly 45 minutes after that! I didn't get into the exam room till 3:10. I was dying to go pee. All looks good for now- actually measuring on point with my LMP instead of a few days behind (assumed it would be a few days behind because I ovulate late, but I'm measuring 6w 4d). Doc said I should go for another u/s at 9ish weeks to see how things are progressing since I'll be on progesterone supplements for the next 30 days.

What's this about coldstone?? Wish they delivered!

  • OMG ice cream. I made hubby go out last week I had to have carvel with sprinkles and fudge. He also brought home flying saucers of which I had 1 each night for 3 nights. Then I looked up the points on WW and have now banned carvel from my house.

@tiffanyhr why did they make you drink so much water? My ob office has me pee before I go in.

  • For an ultrasound this early (6wks), they do an abdominal before the do a transvaginal. I guess if the bladder is full it makes it easier to see what they need to see for the abdominal, then they let you pee for the "insertion" part.
