  • @PrimRoseMama I definitely don't think the grads are trying to be hurtful. I wouldn't jump so far as to ask anyone not to post because public forum at all. My comment was just that it stings. I'm hoping I'll get over stuff like that stinging. Today I saw a KU lady at lunch and I didn't even get teary. Other times

If an UO is truly an UO then most should disagree.  Sometimes this tread turns into popular pet peeves.

I say good luck with the consolidated intro, I also get annoyed with them.  If only TB would have a hide this post feature....

I understand that sting on occasion from KU ppl or even just kids.  Unfortunately cannot make even a small space KU/child free.  I have less bad TTC days now so eh.  You can strip out all signatures if things in there get ya.  I strip out pics for other reasons.  I'm for KU women to commenting here as long as they actually TRIED to get KU.

  • Alright, I'm going to go ahead and post the master intro thread and hope it at least helps cut down on some of the clutter. If anyone wants to post some "seed" intros and requests to the BGs to get it pinned, I think that might help make it work, too.
@MissAmeliaPond I'm impressed by how fast that thread got pinned!! Woo!

The newbie thread is awesome! I only see one potential problemo (which just occured to me).

If someone posts a TOU violation "am i pregnant" post and a massive flaming follows clogging up the thread.

But I guess we'll cross that bridge when we come to it...

  • Here's my UO. My mom passed away almost 2 years ago and my ILs live several states away so it makes me a little bit stabby when people complain that their parents or ILs are too involved in their kid's life. I know the normal thing to do is complain about parents and ILs, and my ILs can be annoying at times, but I'd take regular involvement over once a year visits any day. Grass is always greener thing, I guess.

I'm sorry for your loss, but this is one of those situations where your experiences have no bearing on those of others. My in-laws will not be part of my children's lives because of who they are as people, and as a result of their own actions. Others will have wonderful relationships with their inlaws for the same reasons. Feeling stabby about another family's dynamic is not warranted at all.

That's the reason @superscarf wrote it, with the understanding it would be an UO.

An opinion being proclaimed unpopular doesn't magically make it immune to criticism, especially when it addresses something as complex as the family dynamic of strangers from the very limited perspective of personal experience.

There's obviously a spectrum of parent/ IL behavior though. Obviously there are people who have abusive/addicted/narcissistic/manipulative/etc parents or IL and one is better without them in their lives. However, on a less extreme example, there are people who complain about parents or IL for surface and minor stuff. Example I heard this week: "ugh my MIL wants to throw me her own baby shower in addition to the one I'm having." That is complaining for the sake of complaining.

  • @DarthFuriosa I actually wrote it thinking about my sister and DH's sister, but didn't want to go into a drawn out explanation with examples. I agree with your assertions that families are dynamic and unique; as are people.

Yes, but even in that example, which is pretty insignificant in the grand scheme, it is difficult to determine if the problem lies in the personality of the complainer, or with a family dynamic where clear boundaries have not been established. Likely it is somewhere in between. Boundary issues get much more complicated when it comes to access/rules for children, and that's the complaint I see here most often.

My UO is this: I've seen crap charts pop BFPs and gorgeously perfect charts march right over to WTO. I have my fingers crossed always, but I'm SO sorry y'all for sending encouragement because of a pretty chart and I think it happens far too much. Sometimes I want someone to hop onto TWW and remind me about my scientific odds of conception every month.

Am I the only one who only hangs out in TTGP?? I feel like I've lived such a sheltered life. Off I go to lurk in new territories...

@babymish I had that thought earlier when someone on some thread said something along the lines of, "we all read the tri boards too" or something to that effect. And I tilted my head and thought, "we do?! What have I been missing out on?!"
I believe that's me and I didn't exactly say that. I said most people lurk different boards, including TTCers lurking the PG boards (Tri and BMB). I keep to TTGP 95% of the time, but I do go lurk other boards on occasion. I know others that lurk a lot more often. It is a whole new world out there though!

That would not be my cat, yesterday she jumped straight up in the air at the remote control, then 1 second later jumper straight up in the air again at the same remote control. I bet for her it's like every second of her life her world could possibly come to a horrific end and she is constantly petrified of it.

I'm not a fan of the blessed thing either. I'm a bit more willing to accept it for something like a baby, but it's fucking awful when it comes to something materialistic like money or a house. It's great you're thankful for what you have but it makes it sounds like whatever higher being is doing this blessing just doesn't care about a lot of people out there.

I think there's waaay too many boards on TB. Like just in the TTC category there's TTGP, Trouble TTGP, TTCAL, TTCAL 6 months+, IF, and I'm probably missing something. Ain't nobody got time for that. I end up mostly in TTGP because there's more traffic and I have to do more clicks to get to TTCAL. Boards like Cloth Diapering or whatnot are just dead.

Oh and I don't think I ever did an intro post because, let's face it, no1curr.
