    Clary sage oil to induce labour???? What are your thoughts on this please?

    seriously? just let the poor kid come when he/she is ready. why are so many women trying to push their babies out before they're due? pregnancy sucks. deal with it. it's not all about you (any mother, not anyone specifically) & whats comfortable for you anymore.

    I'm not trying to be rude. just.. all these "how do i induce labour?" threads are pissing me off.

    Don't read them then: and don't comment either.

    I only said 'thoughts on this' didn't sat I was going to do it. I'm only 35 weeks anyway so wouldn't dream of doing anything just yet. Just wanted to know everyone's thoughts on it.
  • Can't say anything without getting your head chewed off on here! EVERYONE'S entitled to their own opinions there Just no need to be so rude and obnoxious about it :/

    If you read any of the comments in this thread, I think you would be able to infer everyone's opinion on this. If you need the cliffnotes version it is: Its dangerous. Don't do it. When you got pregnant, you signed up for 40 full weeks, don't try to skate out early.

    this is an online forum. you asked for opinions, & that was my opinion. based on your response, you're not thinking about it yet but you will be thinking about it in the future. don't.

    People read and comment on them because otherwise there'd be a bunch of women out there giving themselves explosive diarrhea trying to induce labor with castor oil. I know nothing about clary sage, but in general it is best to wait until baby is ready. I'm personally having sex every day to work on the cervix but even with that proven method there's no guarantee he'll be here any earlier. As for the sage, I don't see anything that will speed the process. If the cervix isn't ready, nothing is going to work.

    Sex every day?! You go! I'm lucky if I can muster up enough for once a week. Jealous.

  • I am to that kind of desperation point too. I am so uncomfortable that I can't hardly function anymore. But I would look into all the OTHER options first. I don't know that I could get to the point of actually drinking castor oil. I have read that Raspberry Leaf Tea can help move things along, as well as long walks and spicy food. I can't be the only one that can't stand the thought of having sex right now right?

    I seriously hope you are not insinuating to OP (or anyone else for that matter) to eventually look into castor oil.

    i really hope you're at least past your due date..
  • My midwife suggested I take castor oil to bring on labor, though this was 10+ years ago and there is more information available now for us pregnant mom's to read. First let me say I wouldn't do it again because of the risks I now know about. I was 39 weeks pregnant and wanted to have my husband there(he was in Army) and neither my midwife or myself wanted to induce with pitocin. I did go into labor and luckily there weren't any complications for my son or me. I didn't make it to the hospital I was supposed to deliver at and the doctor who delivered my son couldn't believe my midwife told me to drink the castor oil. She went on to explain after the birth(I had him in the triage room) all of the risks that I wasn't told about. One of them being diarrhea which causes dehydration quickly, I honestly didn't have to even go to the bathroom after I took it. I was lucky, my son was lucky. I know it feels like everyone is jumping your case about it but it is out of concern for you and your baby. I know it feels like eternity, I know how uncomfortable this stage is(this is my 5the baby). You only have a few weeks left and this stage will be a distant memory. Also if you are still considering castor oil know that in the cases where it does work that your body was most likely to go into labor on its own within 48hours anyways, if it doesn't work then you put yourself in misery for no reason and put your baby at risk. Seems pointless.

    @Knottie19458446 :
    RRLT is to tone the uterus to make contractions during active labor more effective. It does nothing to ripen the cervix or "move things along".

    Sex is for the motion (repetitive motion & help to engage baby's head into the pelvic region) & prostaglandins in ejaculate fluid that can help ripen the cervix.

    No matter what you do-- you should wait until at least 40 weeks to do much in the way of trying to jump start labor.
