Publix Deli subs have been my craving. I always have them heated but I seriously can't get enough. I have at least one a week.
Blue Cheese is my favorite thing in this world. I know it's terrible but when I can, I have it. Usually on pizza (so it's been melted) or a burger (again melted) but its so amazing.
Also the hot showers. I gave up my bathes and soaks but can't do without my hot baths.
Also, I haven't had soda in like 4 years and this little girl loves sweets. So once a week I have a glass of coke and it's so good....
@mrsmartinez16 I had completely given up soda for almost a year when I got pregnant. I have a Pepsi at least 2 or 3 times a week now. It's terrible, but I'm not stopping.
If my grandmother had her way, I'd always wear flat shoes, never lift DD, and the only use the stairs in my house when needed. Who has time for that?
I just talked a pregnant friend off the ledge because she was afraid to eat ICE CREAM. Seriously!?! If you didn't eat every found that had ever had a listeria contamination, you'd be limited to your own garden.
Can anyone shed some light on sleeping on your back? I do it often, granted I have like 5 pillows propping me up & one under my butt to help with restless leg syndrome, but I thought it was only dangerous to sleep on your back late in pregnancy and that your body would tell you something was wrong/it would be painful?
Who is telling you guys not to have hot showers?? I've never even heard that. As if a 5 minute hot shower is really enough to dangerously raise your core temperature and affect your baby! I don't think I would be able to contain the eye roll if someone tried to tell me that nonsense.
Yeah... I've never heard of it until this board. OBs haven't mentioned it with either pregnancy and it isn't in my info packet they gave out. And my 3 second Google search turned up nothing saying it's a no-no from anything reputable. I don't see how my blood pressure/HR would increase. I'm not buying it.
As for me: -I lift all the things at the gym. -I don't monitor my heart rate while doing cardio. (Not really against any "rules", but I know a lot of people talk about it) -I monkeyed around on the roof to put up and take down our Christmas lights.

Evidently I am doing everything your not supposed to....well I never smoked and I stopped drinking for now...but Dr. is ok with everything and said most is BS anyway and they tell you this stuff to cover themselves because of the sue happy people now days. Also said Im more likely to get sick from unwashed fruit/veggies than anything on the "do not eat" list.
-Coffee or Spark every morning and likely 1-2 other caffeinated drinks -Raw Oysters -Sushi -Med Rare Tuna steaks -Cold cuts -Helping move/lift heavy boxes (I am capable of comfortably lifting a decent amount of weight without straining) -Still lick the beaters when baking -I get my hair highlighted every 6 weeks -Ultrasound myself at hubbys vet clinic a few times (Dr knows) -Hot shower every night -All cheese -Use cleaning products -Painted (windows open)
I cant wait for wine in my third tri....Dr. said 4oz here and there wont hurt anything.
To each their own. As long as your upfront with your Dr. that is the most important part IMO.
Ab work on my back (conflicting advice on that) Hot showers Not sure how much sugar I should be eating but I guarantee I'm over whatever that number is. I eat fruit and drink fruit juice allll day long.

@ahernandez16 So glad I'm not alone! It's so satisfying lol @PressLove My grandmother said the same thing. I can't NOT wear heels, that's absurd. I do try and wear flats often but if there is a big meeting at work or the district is visiting, I'm wearing heels
And wait..we're NOT supposed to sleep on our backs? That's the only way I've been comfortable sleeping this whole pregnancy!

The no sleeping on your back thing is supposed to begin around 20 weeks I believe. The vena cava, one of the biggest blood returns to your heart, runs up your abdomen behind your uterus. Around 20 weeks, the weight of the baby/uterus begins to get to the point where it may compress the vena cava, hindering the return of blood from your lower body and messing with circulation. In theory, you'll feel dizzy long before doing any damage to you or the baby. Same deal with why they recommend sleeping on your left side, the vena cava runs up the right side of your spine so laying on the left is less likely to compress it. My MIL was insisting I start only sleeping on my left side at 13 weeks but had no idea why that was so I found out and decided to not listen to her advice.
Coffee every day. Hot showers, back sleeping, eating like a teenage boy. Have had the occasional glass of wine throughout my pregnancy. Just went to the salon for a color refresh today, dyed it in the first tri when I didn't even know that was a no-no. Not enough water. Have my 20 week tomorrow, guess we'll see if it's still in there
I saw that, but ignored it because it's a blog... The source she sites at the end talks about extreme outdoor heat showing a slight reduction in gestation time. (2-5 days) Nothing about showers are mentioned.

@mrsmartinez16 omg Publix subs. You just made me want one so bad and I now live 1500 miles from the nearest publix. Kill me. I'm going to Florida in Feb for my baby shower and i don't care about the deli meat, I will be eating one.
Love this thread!
1. Small glass of champagne at thanksgiving
2. Small glass of red wine at new Years
3. Cookie dough two days ago
4. Two big cups of coffee every day.
5. Soft cheese (bring on the queso)
6. I did T25 up until month 4. And now I do other beachbody lifting programs just less intense.
7. Hot bath and showers but rarely our water heater sucks anyway
8. Sleep on back (sometimes I just wake up like that I kick my body pillow of the bed)
9. I'm itching to dye my hair! I went pastel this summer and got pregnant before I could fix my roots. I haven't made the appointment yet but I'm seriously debating it....
Thank you thank you thank you for making me feel better about this!
Side note I hate seafood and sushi and deli meat but I feel bad for those of you if that's your favorite food. I'd hate it if a study came out that pizza caused birth defects.
OMG, I never even thought of queso as soft cheese! To me queso has it's own food group haha
I also have never heard about the hot showers! Or the hot dogs! I don't have hot dogs often, but I'm pretty sure I've had a hot dog on a stick since I've been pregnant!
I also:
eat deli meat
have tasted brownie batter more than once
drink diet coke (I limit it to only once in a great while, but I've done it)
I do not eat enough fruits and vegetables!
And I'm dying for a rare steak!! (I won't do it but my a**hole in-laws asked us to go to a local steakhouse for dinner!)
I have stairs in my house and my MIL hates that I have to use them everyday (DS room & nursery up there). I am pretty picky about how much weight I pick up because I do have a weak back. I will never give up hot showers! I actually enjoy a good steamy bubble bath about once a month. Caffiene... cannot make it thru a day without it.
My doc told me no hot showers because I was having issues with them. I would get extremely faint, start seeing spots, and had to sit down or I was likely going to pass out. She said it was blood pressure. However I stopped having those symptoms after first tri and am back at the hot showers

Okay, what is this nonsense about no stairs? I thought pregnant women were supposed to exercise some, no? If we are supposed to exercise, why can't we walk up a flight of damn stairs?
- Definitely still take hot showers. Are you kidding, this is the only time I am truly warm. I've had a few hot/warm baths too, but not hot tub levels of heat or anything. - Eat tuna salad about once a week. It is delicious. I ate it today, in fact. I also sometimes buy it premade from the deli counter, which means it's probably sat out a little while, which means it's probably also a listeria risk, and I don't heat it. OH GODS. - I had a quarter-cup of wine with a meal over the holidays. I also cook frequently with wine, but it cooks off so that really doesn't worry me. - Lift things: the Christmas tree, my 5-year-old daughter, heavy grocery bags, whatever. I try to defer some lifting to DH, but he's not always around and I have to be realistic! - Tasted things with raw eggs. Honestly, it's a small miracle that I've not actually downed cookie dough by the cupful yet. - Sushi hasn't happened yet (I had a gluten restriction until the last couple of months, and gluten-free sushi is wretched), but it's happening later this month for sure. I haven't decided yet if I'll do the raw fish thing or not. There are some pretty good cooked rolls at the place we go. - Sleep halfway on my back and also halfway on my stomach. I'm working on this, but yeah. - Wore heels. This isn't even a thing, is it? - Fenced. I actually didn't do much of this, because I was too nauseous in my 1st trimester to want to much, and then my SPD kicked in so the intense weight shifts are hell on my pelvic joints, but I definitely got poked with blunted swords while pregnant. - Had my daughter's bedroom repainted.
I had the heels discussion with my doctor because I didn't understand why it's a thing. She spoke about how heels (I don't have anything under 3") can throw your back out of alignment. Plus, as your belly grows, balance becomes an issue. Special occasions are okay, but before DD, I wore heels everyday.
Had a small glass of red wine with a lovely medium rare steak last weekend. I would eat sushi until a friend yelled at me (but also offered me a glass of wine in the same conversation!). Also have to have morning coffee with Splenda, no exceptions!
@chelseay416 I hear you about the gigantic box of brownie mix from Costco. Good think my hubby outlawed that with his new diet before I got pregnant!

I was in the middle of a bathroom construction project for a few weekends where tons of dust particles (and, lets be honest, probably mold particles) were flying. I wore a mask when I was in the middle of the debree but not otherwise in the house. We changed our furnace filter at least.

Seriously. We just moved into an upstairs apartment and my mom makes comments about it ALL the time. "Oh you better not hurt my grandson..." I'm walking, woman.
I'm so thankful for this thread! I'm always scared that people are constantly looking at me and judging now that it's out that I'm pregnant.
I work with students with significant disabilities and they love to drop to the floor. The thing is, they're smart enough to know if I can't/won't pick them up and will have to just leave them, so I most certainly help them up, (I can't let them take advantage of my pregnancy!) although then the ladies I work with yell at me...
I also have half of a pop every now and then...I just crave it!

Everything I bolded is my situation, exactly! Though, one of my students is 14 & I definitely can't do much about it when he does this.
I take hot showers. I eat deli meat, soft cheese, eggs over easy, and home made farmer's cheese. I carry my 28lb son around all the time. I've had just Cheetos and Dr. Pepper for lunch a few times in the last two weeks. I'm not a coffee drinker but I still have my chai almost every day and sometimes a soda in the afternoon too. I still dye my hair too, but it's henna, so I think that one is ok.
I crave chili cheese coneys from Sonic frequently but my husband FREAKS out if I even mention eating a hot dog so I just go on my lunch break from work and get them He'll never know!! I have pretty much cut out coffee but I still have a soda a day, otherwise I will be a very upset tired pregnant lady. I'm still taking hot showers, and sleeping on my back. I've also dyed my hair a few times but my Dr ok'd that! My husband is the King of "You're not supposed to do that".. super annoying.

I agree with you that that is majorly annoying. But so is your SO thinking you can do everything you used to. H said something recently along the lines of "man, I wish I was pregnant so I didn't have to shovel the snow" and he got "the" look...
Followed quickly by...
(for the record, I think you can shovel snow pregnant too but I'm clumsy as all get out and don't want to fall...at least that is my story and I'm sticking to it)
I love my apartment except for the parking situation. There's a parkade attached to the building but the elevator doesn't go down that far, and my spot is on the bottom level, so I have to go up 3 flights of stairs to get from my car to the elevator. While carrying my toddler. And whatever groceries etc I went out for in the first place. And the stairs always seem to be wet and slippery because of the snow on the ground. Such is life. Risk happens.
In my first pregnancy I once fell while walking up some stairs with my hands in my pockets (idiot). Smacked my big third-tri bump on the hard edge of a step. Didn't do anything harmful but it freaked me the hell out! Keep those hands out of your pockets ladies
I also drink coffee every day. Didn't even think of it as a "no-no" since I've always been told up to 200mg caffeine is fine. I aim for about 160 so if I happen to have some extra pop or chocolate I don't go over.
Blue cheese buffalo chicken salad. "I don't think you should be eating blue cheese. Plus that's hardly a salad- wouldn't it be better for you to just get a regular salad right now?" Just try to stand between me and buffalo chicken salad! No really, reach your hand in there. Come at me bro!
Oh I totally shovel snow. It's cardio! If the pile is actually too heavy to lift I'll ask H for help but dude, my driveway needs to be shoveled. If h is working - I'm gonna do it.

I agree with you, it is probably great cardio. I'll stick to spin class though because I fall all the time without dealing with ice/snow....hell I hold on to the handlebars of the treadmill (and did so when not pregnant) when I climb/speed walk on the treadmill just like the old lady that I am. Pregnancy has made my balance issues even worse.

Back sleeping is bad the as you get bigger and the baby can weigh on a major blood vessel.
