Baby Names

Boy Names..

Okay, so I'm still not sold on a name. My first son's name is Holden, and I was absolutely in love with it. However, I just haven't found a name I feel that way toward this time. Please tell me how you feel about these names! The last name will be Johnson, if that helps. He is biracial (Caucasian and African American), and I know that doesn't necessarily matter when deciding a name, but if there are any nicknames or negative correlations I'm missing then I would like to know! :) Thanks in advance.

- Blaise
- Maverick
- Hendrix
- Rocco
- Maddox
- Rowan

Re: Boy Names..

  • Love Rocco! It's one of my favorite boy names, it's a bit displaced with Holden if that is something you consider.  Rowan I love as well although the ending with Holden I don't love.

Maverick and Hendrix are trying to hard to sound cool.  Maddox is a total GP name but I have saved it for a future pet.  I don't think it presents well.  NAF of Blaise and Jalen.

  • I like Rowan and Rocco best from your list, while it's only gotten popular recently, Holden is an older name and the other names on your list just don't stand up to it in my opinion.

I really dislike Maverick. I don’t find its literal definition appealing, nor its connotation. 99% percent of people are not mavericks, and it would be obnoxious to have a name that is the opposite of how you are.
  • Hendrix = jimi/Seattle.
Maverick agree pp. Similar thoughts with Blaise.

I don't love these names with Holden.

Have you used name matchmaker? You can put in your ds1 plus 2 you like and it spits out ideas.
  • Love Rocco!

    Ehh: Jalen, Maddox
    Lord No: Maverick, Hendrix, Blaise
  • Thank you guys! My thing with Rocco is, mostly everyone here seems to like it, but when I have asked a few friends and my mother about it they're like, "Rocco? That's a dog's name." So it keeps making me second guess it!
  • My friends son is called rocco and I love it! They've recently just had a little boy and named him 'ralphie' Iike that aswell.

Although I was panicking because I've chosen my name for my boy and hadn't told anyone when they said it began with 'R' I almost had heart failure as the name I have is Reuben haha

  • Rocco is in our top 2 also and I have gotten the dog comment too. I will say that it is a human name that people choose to use on dogs, just like Bailey, Molly, Sadie, etc. I would go with what you love and need to take my own advice too :)
  • I mean I used it for a dog but only due to it being vetoed, however it's also a strong Italian name

  • Maddox, Rowan or Blaise

  • Well what isn't is a dog name these days. I know three dogs named Oliver alone.
Also I find that most grandparents are behind the times on naming trends so I wouldn't discard a name based on her opinion alone.

And if Rocco is a dog name then what the hell is Maverick? a parakeet?
  • Rowan or Rocco get my vote!
