Worried, stressed and going crazy

Hi ladies,

Let's start from the beginning... LMP 29/11/15. I got my BFP 31/12/15. Based on my lmp I am just over 6 weeks. I had my first scan on Tuesday and was so excited to see my baby and possibly a heartbeat, but instead I was shocked to only see a sac that measures 4 weeks 3 days. My periods are not super regular but I just don't understand how I can only be 4 weeks.

The scan also revealed that there were 2 sacs. The doctor has suggested that it could indicate twins or could be a cyst or fluid.

This is my first pregnancy. I am only 25 so assumed I would have a good healthy pregnancy. Now I can't stop worrying that I have a missed miscarriage.

I would love to hear if anyone has had a similar experience.

I have another scan booked for wed next week. The waiting is killing me.

    Were you tracking ovulation? It's possible that you ovulated late in your cycle. For example, I have 40+ days cycles so I ovulate around CD (cycle day) 25-30. Ovulating late would make sense why you are measuring behind your LMP EDD. Because your EDD based on O (which is really when you conceived, but most OBs go by LMP even though not everyone falls into a standard 28 day complete cycle) was much closer to today's date, if that makes sense.

    I wasn't tracking ovulation the last time we bd was the 21st December. So it's possible that we conceived later in the month rather than the 17th which was my trackers estimated ovulation date.

    My first clearblue pregnancy test done on 31/12 estimated i was 1-2 weeks. A test done yesterday said 2-3 weeks.

    I had a blood test yesterday and another due tomorrow so hopefully my hcg levels are going strong. I think that will help put my mind at ease.

    Sperm can live in the female body for up to 5 days so it's very possible you ovulated later than you think :) Good luck!

    As pp said, ovulation could've been later and sperm are hardy little swimmers! Good luck and try not to worry too much!

    I answered a question very similar to this below:

    This happened with my daughter. She was two weeks behind the date based on LMP and we had to have 2 more ultrasounds before it was decided she was growing fine and I must've just ovulated late. My current pregnancy I already know I ovulated two weeks late, so this little one will be behind the date based on LMP by two weeks too!! Try no to worry and know this is not necessarily a bad sign!!!
