I finally started losing my mucus plug! I know it doesn't mean that labor is started but at least it's something. I was so sick of nothing seeming to happen!
37 weeks and 1 day here - anyone else feel like their body isn't getting even close to ready? FTM, so I have no idea how this typically goes, but I haven't had any colostrum leaking, no mucus plug, baby is head down now, but hasn't dropped or engaged, no contractions, etc. I have my first cervical check tomorrow, so we'll see if I'm dilated or effaced at all, but I would be shocked if anything is going on downstairs. I know people can go into labor at any time and it can be very sudden, but based on bodily cues, I feel like I could be pregnant another 2 months!
Edited to add: I'm not complaining, per se, I know I still have a ways to go, I'm just starting to feel a bit nervous that I haven't had ANY signs of anything happening yet!
@maureenmce I'm 39 weeks and haven't had any pre labor symptoms. I'm at 0 cm dilated and she's still high up. I totally feel you on the frustration of not seeing any progress. I'm starting to think I'm going to be pregnant forever! She seems way too comfy! @MamaHolland yes!!! Last week, I couldn't eat. This week, I can't stop!

With my first I had zero signs before labor started- no BH, no loss of mucous plug, cervical check said I was only 1cm and not very effaced, but I went into labor right on my due date and labor was 9 hours start to finish. with my second I kept having false labor and lots of "signs" for about 3 weeks before DD was born and I drove myself crazy always thinking it must be time, so remember it can happen any time, signs or no signs!
37w3d today. Had our 37 week appt this morning. No change from last week. 1 cm dilated. Baby is happy as a clam hanging onto my ribs. I did find out I have some skin tags down there, which are really annoying and get irritated when I wipe, guess it's just a preview for the worst to come. .
Went to my appointment today - 37+4 DD Jan 29 - and zero progress!! No dilation, no effacement, baby still high.....ugh. And Doctor thinks that baby is around 9lb already. We will check in with another ultrasound again next week, but if there is no progress, she says she recommends scheduling a C section, which I did not want to do if I didn't have to.....fingers crossed something progresses between now and then, but it's not looking like there is any sign of that!
I'm 38+1 today. my first was born at 37+1 so I feel like I am a week overdue, even though I *know* I still have two weeks until my due date. also, with my first there were no signs of labor until my water broke (even then I wasn't positive). only in the last one or two days have I had some very mild contractions. I'm trying not to be super discouraged but its hard not to compare this go around with last time. I also had a super fast labor/delivery and I'm making myself nervous that because this pregnancy is so different than the last one, the labor will be super different (and therefore long).
ugh. I just needed to vent. I was measuring small for a while so a little more time with baby growing is probably not a bad thing. But since I'm still in the "normal" or "safe" range for size its hard to convince myself of these things.
I had my weekly appointment today I'm 38+2 and I've been having contractions on and off for weeks but last night they were progressing for like 3 hours I was sure this was it but then they subsided. My OB checked my cervix and I was sure I was going to be at least a little dilated but nope! Cervix is soft, baby dropped all good signs but no dilation or effacement yet which is super discouraging. My doctor said everything was good and I know I still have 2 weeks left but I just want baby to get here already!
37+4, just got back from my appointment. 1cm dilated (wasn't dilated at all last week) and 80% effaced. My due date is Jan 29, but my OB was guessing she'd come more like Feb 3rd based on her ultrasound measurements, but now he's guessing she'll come sooner, in next couple of weeks. I have an ultrasound in a week, I'm very curious how big they think she is now. She's been small the whole time so far, so maybe she'll just be a small baby.
@hannahduff3 - Just got back from my 37 week (I'm 37+2 today) and, as I suspected, no dilation at all. She didn't mention effacement, and I forgot to ask, so I'm not sure about that. So... yeah. In interesting news though, my OB offered to induce me at 39 weeks, if I want, based on my sciatic nerve pain. I'm walking with a cane and have been since Christmas, and she and the chiropractor I went to don't think it's going to really go away until the baby is born, so she threw that out there as an option, if the pain gets to be too much. She said she wouldn't suggest it if I wanted a med free birth, but since I'm planning on getting an epidural she said it would be fine and she assured me that they go very slow and easy induction wise, and start with a very low dose of pitocin.
So, that's something to think about. Have any of you STMs been induced before? I know there was an induction thread recently, so I'll check it out. My OB says it's all up to me and my pain level, so if I want to go at 39 weeks, 40 or 41, that's my choice. My instinct right now is that I want to just wait until 40 and then talk about it. The fact that there's nothing going on downstairs at the moment and LO seems perfectly comfortable where she is, makes me think she definitely wants to stay in there and grow a good amount longer. She's also a little bit on the small side (they estimated 5 pounds 15 ounces at 36 weeks and 4 days) so I want to make sure she's big and strong.
The sciatic nerve pain sucks but it's better than the first two weeks, at least, and I've gotten used to it. I've also gotten pretty good with the cane, enough to at least be able to go to doctor's appointments and short trips to CVS and places like that on my own, so I think I want to stick it out until at least 40. But it's nice to know that I can induce if I need to! Anyway, sorry for the essay, just a lot to think about!
maureenmceYes, I am convinced I'm going to be two weeks late and I won't be induced until freaking halfway through February. My baby is moving around, I am getting BH contractions, but no mucus plug, no weird blood, and I just don't FEEL close. It's just hard to be so close and feel more uncomfortable, but otherwise not that different...
and I just don't FEEL close. It's just hard to be so close and feel more uncomfortable, but otherwise not that different...
YES. Exactly. Despite discomfort, I don't feel close at all. I know there's more to giving birth than a feeling or intuition about it and that things can change very quickly, but I guess that's one of the reasons I don't want to rush into an induction, I just feel super far from my body being ready. As absolutely frustrating as that is! Haha.
Has anyone experienced like a weird gurgling sound in their stomach when they try to bend over their belly when reaching for things? Mine has been doing it quite a bit today. Not concerned, just curious.

Every time I lie on my left side I gurgle like crazy, not sure if it's the same thing or not, but it feels so weird! I feel like mine tends to be more in the esophagus than the stomach though, and I end up burping loads.
@maureenmce maybe you can schedule an induction for your due date (if you decided induction was right for you) so she could cook a little longer but you don't have to suffer too long if you wouldn't naturally go into labor until 42 weeks or something!
37+4 today and currently hooked up in the hospital for induction. Tomorrow is the day. High BP and seeing black spots so they wanted to induce before anything bad happened. Excited to meet my daughter tomorrow!!! Good luck Mommy's to be!!!
Started seeing floaters tonight and had a panic attack. Called the on call and he basically told me to go to sleep and drink some water. Am I the only one who HATES calling the on call doctors? They never know all of my information and half the time I sit there explaining to them - no I'm not just freaking out, yes this is information my DOCTOR told me during my appointments and not Google, I understand that you might not agree with my doctor but you haven't been the one seeing me for the last however many weeks. I just had an argument about whether or not I had preeclampsia (which has been verified by my DOCTOR). I WAS IN THERE YESTERDAY DUDE. JUST TELL ME IF I NEED TO GO TO THE L&D OR NOT. GAHHHHH.
I just noticed this morning that I have stretch marks around my belly button (or what was my belly button). It figures I have about 20 days to go and NOW I get them. I really thought I was going to be one of the lucky ones that didn't. Sorry to be vain, but I'm a little sad.

I've noticed those in the last week as well. I haven't gotten any so I thought I was in the clear, but they are only around the bellybutton so I guess I can't complain.

It's not vain! It's not like you're cursing your baby over it! I got none with DS but I got them near the end with DD and I can tell you they do fade a LOT- until they showed up again this week I had honestly forgotten I'd had them b/c they had gotten so faint since DD's birth. Hopefully yours will fade away quickly!
I'm 37+6 and had my first cervical check yesterday. I was completely closed. I feel so disheartened. All this check did was make my hips and back hurt even more and I haven't had my bloody show or mucus plug or anything. I'm just so tired! Yesterday I had a regular exam and my doctor told me my BP was too high and I gained too much weight and was very swollen. My doctor wanted them to induce labor. She sent me to the hospital and they just checked me and sent me home with a headache and high BP. Very annoying day.
38+6, I thought maybe there would be something to report after my weekly appointment this morning but no such luck. The "Any news?" texts have started though.
I'm right there with all of you upset about stretch marks too, I was doing so well but in the last month or so my entire lower belly is covered with the badges of honour. I can't help but feel bummed, but DH is being super nice about it, and I've never been a bikini person so I know it doesn't really matter.

This times infinity! My DOCTOR (not Dr. Google as the L&D nurse put it) said she was very concerned about the preeclampsia. I do see floaters and I gained 7 pounds of fluid within a week. The nurse assured me weight gain in the last month of pregnancy is normal, but not a pound a day! I wish I could have my doctors personal number! My doctor sent me in and told them to induce and the L&D nurses sent me home with a high BP and headaches. I sent a message to my doctor she isn't in today but tomorrow I'm getting monitored.

This is almost exactly what happened to me except I chose to call ahead instead of just go in. I gained 12 lbs in 2 weeks and have the on call tell me I "ate too much during Christmas"..... Really? Then please explain the extreme swelling, migraines, floaters, +2 protein in my urine, and PLEASE tell my doctor that she's inducing me because I ate too much over Christmas. Please. She will love it. Bc I'm pretty sure she's the high risk dr and not you. I went up to drop off my 24 hour urine test and get blood work done to confirm but my dr wasn't up there. She's supposed to call tomorrow with the induction date. It will likely be this weekend but no later than Monday.
ETA my dr told me to call in if I started seeing floaters + nausea. So I did. The on call told me "you probably just had something in your eye. And if not then seeing little specks is not a sign of preeclampsia. It's very very common." Uh.... K.
@maddisonwallace I have nausea and vomiting as well which the nurse marked as "normal" I don't see how they could send me home with a high BP and say it's ok because I'm stressed. Luckily we are both getting the right care tomorrow! The nurses are amazing but they seem to think that we use "Dr. Google" when really it's our doctors who confirm that what we are dealing with is in fact dangerous. On the monitor the babies heart rate was very high and I was concerned. The nurse said it was because I had gotten my blood drawn and was stressed and so was the baby. BS!
@hannahduff3 - Yeah, induction at 40 weeks is what I'm thinking. Seems like a good compromise between pain and letting LO cook as long as she needs to. And, I'm hoping maybe I'll go into labor on my own by then (fingers crossed!)
37.6 appt today. Baby slept for most of the NST, so they kept me on for-ev-er. I'm now dilated to 2, and if all looks good next week, (meaning, he wants to see me at 3cm) I can get a membrane sweep. Induction has been (possibly) moved to 1/24 but they still want me to go into spontaneous labor on my own for a more "favorable" vbac. Honestly I can't complain because it's 11 days tops. but I this being the last baby, I would honestly love to experience my water breaking on it's own. (I never have!) I did ask what I can do to throw myself into labor and all I got was "stay active". meh. ok. so walking it is.
Thinking about you @maddisonwallace and @anightintunisia and hoping you get some great care and answers soon! Those L and D nurses sound um...unhelpful, is the nicest word I could come up with, especially if your doctors are concerned!
Can I hang out with you guys? I'm due Feb 3rd and the Feb board is a little boring. This is a cool thread idea!
37 weeks today and working up until I deliver. This is my 2nd and it is a girl - Eva Rose. I have a 2 1/2 year old boy at home. I was induced at 36 weeks with my son, so I've never been pregnant for this long before. Feels like forever.
Right now, I'm taking every weekly appointment as a milestone. I actually look forward to them, thinking maybe I'll be told the baby is coming soon or something.
37+3 today and just got back from my appointment. I thought I was one of those lucky pregnant ladies to not have any aches and pains my whole pregnancy, but two days ago I started having shooting pain starting from the top of my butt down to my mid-thigh. My midwife said it's probably sciatic nerve pain. I'll be scheduling an appointment with a chiropractor ASAP. Kudos to the mamas who have been dealing with this the majority of their pregnancies! On a better note, my midwife felt around and said my baby is tiny (which she isn't concerned with) and is guessing he'll be no more than 6 - 6.5 lbs by my due date. I know it's only a guess and I could go over my due date, but she is usually right and the other midwives are amused at how great she is at guesstimating.

Oh, I'm so sorry. I've been dealing with sciatic nerve pain since December 18th, walking with a cane because of it since Christmas. It suuuuucks. I did go to a chiropractor, though she didn't do a full adjustment or anything because of the pregnancy. (Not sure if this was her personal preference or standard practice.) I'll be going back, if the pain persists, after I give birth. But she did stretch out my legs, which helped a fair amount, and showed me several stretches to do at home. All in all, I am feeling somewhat better, though still cane dependent for now. Best of luck!
@Life is Exciting - Sure, you're welcome to hang out here! I post on the Feb board occasionally, since my due date is 1/31 and I figure I have a good shot of having a Feb baby anyway. Welcome!
38+5 today. Just got back from OB appt. my OB and I decided to induce labor next Thursday which is the day before my estimated due date! I'm so relieved. while I'm aware that I may not make it to due date if baby decides she is ready to come earlier it's just so nice after seeing so little in the way of labor- readiness progress. Also she like " stretched " my cervix. I seriously don't even know. She checks every week these past few weeks but today was just horribly painful. She said she was trying to encourage labor- which I'm all for but god it was painful.
Also I feel the pain on the sudden stretch marks- it was the last third of my last trimester when I started noticing them and now it seems like they get worse daily! And I've been using coco butter lotion since day one. Not cool.

Edited to add: I'm not complaining, per se, I know I still have a ways to go, I'm just starting to feel a bit nervous that I haven't had ANY signs of anything happening yet!
