Baby Names

T - 3 weeks to a baby boy with no name!

I had a horrible feeling this morning that we'll never come up with a name for our little guy.

We started at Stanley, DH mentioned it to his mom and a friend, and we received VERY negative reactions (it is a family name)

Then we agreed in Zachary, but a coworker used it, and we kept referring to the baby as it and it began to fall out of favor.

The current list includes Everett, Reid, Eli and Warren.  Strong classic names that transition well into adulthood and are not super popular (in my opinion)

Last name starts with B, sounds a bit like Banjo.

We would like Lane as a middle name if possible (family name)

I'm just at a loss!

Re: T - 3 weeks to a baby boy with no name!

  • I love Stanley!  Personally I wouldn't let my MIL and a friend of my DH's negative reaction change that.

On your list Warren and Reid are excellent with Warren being my favorite.  Warren is uncommon yet recognizable love it!

All four of your list names are good though so I think they are all solid choices.  Everett is the trendiest so maybe drop that but it's not a bad name either.

Are you still looking for suggestions or planning to stick to one of those 4?

Suggestions always welcome!!!!  I know we won't be able to decide for certain until we see him.
  • Suggesting:

    Russell
    Mitchell
    Marshall
    Roland
    Marcus
    Edmund
    Bryce
    Malcolm
    Christian
    Donovan
    Franklin
    Alden
    Walter
    Solomon
    Abram

  • Love Warren.

    Also throwing double support behind
    Mitchell
    Roland
    Edmund
    Donovan
    Solomon
    Walter
  • Love Reid and Warren, but think that Warren sounds better with MN Lane.  At this point, you might just bring a few names to the hospital and see which one "fits" once the baby is here.  Also, don't tell people the name until the baby is born, they will be much nicer about it.
  • Warren is the only one I dont like. I suggest putting the names on your list in name matchmaker & see what names come out you might like.
  • I like all of the name choices that you have (especially Stanley), except Warren. I just met a little boy named Stanley a few months ago, and thought it was so awesome to hear a name that is rarely used.

Just remember, your baby...your naming rights. Pre-baby, our name wasn't really liked by the people that we did mention it to. But after having her and announcing her name, everyone else loved it (and those that didn't, just pretended to). You and your husband's taste in names, is going to be totally different than other people's, so don't let their opinions sway what you love. I wouldn't even talk about it with people that you know IRL. Especially names that have a special meaning to you, because it will hurt your feelings even more. My current top two names are names that the rest of my family wont care for, but they are names of people that are special to my husband and I, so we wont mention names until after baby is already here. For some reason, most people wont show disgust about a name, when there is actually a baby attached to it.

  • I love all 4 of your current name choices! They were all on our list. I think I give a slight edge to Warren, with Reid coming in a close second. But that's hard because they're all great.
  • I like Reid best but don't love it with Lane. Eli or Everett would be my choice.
  • I love Reid and Eli from your list. Both accomplish what you are looking for and are great strong names.
  • I'd narrow it down to Everett and Warren as they sound the best with Lane as the MN.  Of those two, Warren is my favorite.  Everett is a city, IMO, not a name.
