Show Off Your Baby Wearing!

Re: Show Off Your Baby Wearing!

  • @dmbfan46835 - Incredibly so.  I have a 100% cotton Oscha that I've been too chicken to throw into the washing machine, so it's still kind of stiff.  The woolie I bought secondhand from another mum, so it's already been broken in.  The difference is incredible!  Now I can't wait to get my first wrap through a cycle and soften it up.

Oooooo, Girasol slings are lovely!  I had to look them up; I'd never seen them before.  And you're so lucky to have active babywearing groups nearby!  They are such supportive networks of people.  I belong to some groups online, but have yet to attend a meeting.  It's not that we don't have groups here - we do - I've just been a bit timid about joining since all the mums will speak Czech.  I can speak fairly well, even if I do make a ton of mistakes, so I should just suck it up and go.  I'm sure it'll be a good time.

I have a ktan and a bjorn and I love them, but can you guys do housework while wearing them? I can't cook while wearing him because I'm scared of using the knife and cooking splatter, and doing laundry or using the dishwasher is a lot of bending over. I *love* wearing my boy but feel short on opportunities.

I feel this same way. I can fold and put away clothes or wear her while shopping for a bit, but otherwise I can't find a way to be productive. Sometimes I just wear her to calm her, but I sort of feel like I'm missing something. Is there a "trick" I'm missing?

Both of these are me! I feel like I can wear him and walk in circle but can't: cook, load/unload dish washer, do laundry, and I won't reach for things over my head(bottle of spray and wash would have hit my 5 week on in the soft spot had I not deflected it at the last second. I was reaching up to grab the laundry soap. So, really I'm limited. Sometimes I just wear him so I can read a book with both hands. Lol. It's normally not productive things. Bummer.
  • It's from raspberrybaby on etsy! We live it because it's made of a really breathable muslin material. We live in Hawaii and we couldn't wear him without overheating. This one is great

I can do laundry and babywear, but I live in an apartment building and all the machines are front loading, so if I squat I don't have to bend too much. I also dust, and I have emptied the dishwasher by just doing a half squat or supporting LO with one hand (that was the closest he was to sliding out haha!). But I agree, I feel like others have done way more around the hours than me and I'm not sure how they do it. Cooking especially!
  • Love seeing all the pics!  I baby wear most days but don't have a single picture.  The ring sling has been my favorite so far bc it's so quick and easy but LO Is getting a little heavy so I've been using the Ergo for the back support.  Also, question for the ring sling users, I find it awkward if the baby is awake.  I'm not sure where his head it supposed to go if it's not on my chest while asleep.  Does anyone know what I mean?

  • Love my carrier.... It is the first baby product I bought that taug

t me a very good lesson.... Spendy doesn't always mean better. I'm a pretty materialistic person so I always tend to go for the bigger better price tag ... Sure enough I registered for the Higher end ergo $220!!! But when baby came around it just wasn't working... It was too bulky, and like pp I couldn't figure out how to safely put it on my self L, and it was just way too wide for my baby. I can't imagine that it would be comfy for a baby so small to have his legs and hips so wide around me... however I just needed another option because my arms were literally about to fall off after carrying him so much (on demand :)

So I went to Babies R Us and after trying on every thing they had I just fell in love with the cheap-o Infintino!! It was so light weight, comfortable, stylish, and the buckles were much smaller and smother to snap on and off. And you just pull it over your head slide baby in and that's it!!! Love love love it! This is definelty my go to gift to other new Mommas now.

I love the adjustable leg openings for newborn and older baby bottoms size, and being able to wear him facing in/out and in front and in back. I love it, he loves it.... And my bank account loves it..... $35!!!! Can't beat that.

  • Love my Ergo! I seriously don't know what I would do without it sometimes. It saved me on Thanksgiving when we had a house full of people ha!
  • While I do the babywearing day to day, my favorite pics are actually of my husband wearing him, since he carries him when we go hiking (I'm still getting back in shape). These pics are from yesterday and the day before - he was such a trooper! Ka'ena Point Park and Koko Head Crater on O'ahu in Hawai'i.

  • This was the first day trying out the wrap style, I also have an ergo carrier and had (but just gifted to a single mama friend with a colicky baby and no income maternity leave) a chicco carrier. She likes them all and the chicco was killer on my back as she is getting bigger. Obviously she just hated the wrap ;-P
