@lightrox we didn't have pets growing up but I had bad allergies like that and you're totally right carpets make it so much worse. Ripping out the carpets and installing filters make such a difference (I was also allergic to environmental things like our wood stove). We actually have a low-allergy dog (Poodle-Lhasa), which we purposely adopted in case future kiddos had allergy issues. Hopefully in the future your neice outgrows them. I never fully outgrew all my allergies cats, Guinea pigs and rabbits still send me into asthma attacks.

Unfortunately her allergies have gotten worse they are hoping allergy shots help she can't go anywhere an animal lives it's horrible. I'm hoping as she gets older and the shots help her she loves animals but can't go anywhere near them.
I'm actually allergic to poodles it's weird since with every pregnancy my allergies keep getting worse I can't be at my in laws (who have a miniature poodle) for more than and hour or my throat starts to close up. When I had my first son was when their poodle started to affect me apparently the hormones changed my body and made me more allergic.

OMG! I think this same thing is happening to me! I've never sneezed so much in my life. For the past few months, I've noticed that I sneeze a few times every hour. At first, I thought I was getting a cold.....but here I am still sneezing, still clogged, but no other symptoms.
@AlissaLee17 that is the most adorable fattest fluffiest kitty! I love chubby cats ( i have 2 of them with neck rolls). They always looks at me like this when I catch them in the act.
He is 11 lbs of fluff. He's actually surprisingly slender under all of that fur. It's my older, black cat who is actually fat. She's also 11lbs, but short haired and not as long/big as Murph. It's all in her old lady belly.
I don't have any pets since I'm serverly allergic to dogs and cats but my older sister had to give her dog up (Doxie) when my neice was born. He had free rein of the house but the poor baby ended up with a rash from head to toe and sneezing and coughing. They tested her and she was allergic to basically every animal they could test for. My sister cried and was devastated but my brother took in her dog. Afterward she had to get the air ducts cleaned, all the furniture professionally cleaned, and the carpets replaced so my poor neice wasn't suffering. I guess this is kind of a PSA since no body knew what was going on with my neice until she was almost a year old just be aware of signs of allergies in your baby it can happen unfortunately. Hoping no one has to go through what my sister did.
I already have friends lined up who are willing to take my kitties if my baby is allergic. Hopefully that won't be a problem.
We have two dogs and let them in the nursery any time we are in there so that they can get used to the furniture, stuffed animals, etc.. I'm not so worried about our older dog (8yrs), he's pretty chill and just lounges around the room, our younger dog (1.5yrs) is a completely different story. He LOVES stuffed animals and not in the "I wanna cuddle them" way, more in the "I'm gonna hump and shred it to death" haha so we'll definitely be keeping an eye on them but we definitely want them to be around the baby and his stuff to help prevent jealousy.
Yeah, we've already lost a couple soft toys to my shredders. So we put everything up high on shelves. They sit in the room and stare at them longingly. Once baby starts to play with those kinds of toys, all bets are off. My guess is we will have to put the dogs somewhere else while he plays until he's old enough to scold them himself. But baby and the dogs will get plenty of bonding time without soft distracting toys. We will be sure of that. They already love my 5 month old nephew.
The little balls that so "conveniently" fall out of the 4moms rocker have ended up being snatched up by my tiny chihuahua a few times now.. Something I will have to keep an eye on, she didn't like the rocker when we turned it on but luckily didn't bark.. I sat her on it for a minute or so and she just trembled... I'm pretty worried about having a small dog barking at new noises, baby crying et al..she's been in baby's room a few times and had a sniff around, I will let her in there a few times if she barks but I'm planning on making baby's room off limits as well as the living room. She currently likes to snooze on our sofa but I'm afraid that she will bark or try to snuggle a warm baby.. We have 2 outside dogs who bark fairly frequently and I'm hoping that they won't wake baby up but I've been told that a white noise machine keeps any baby asleep and that trying to keep your house perfectly quiet for baby is a bad idea anyways and just creates problems for yourself long term.
One tip we found helpful with introducing pup to baby : have dh take the dog out for a walk while you wait in the car. Then once they are out of sight, bring baby inside and get comfortable. That way the dog returns with a little less energy and the baby is already there: it's a territory thing. Also, we found that the dogsame were actually pretty good about not playing with the stuffed toys that smelled like baby so you might get lucky there.
Hello! Lurker here since around August, but a daily reader. Never really felt compelled to post anything until all of these adorable kitty pics popped up! I'm also worried about my 18 pound cat getting into baby's furniture (due March 4th) which is why I haven't set up the pack n play yet! He's been super clingy recently. This is him from the other day in all his mushy, furry glory curled up on my side with his head resting on my belly.
Is anyone else getting annoyed at their pets? Namely, the dog. We have two cats that I love that follow me everywhere and cuddle relentlessly since being pregnant but when the dog tries to do the same thing, I get really annoyed. He is a really high maintenance dog, and I hate picking up after him and taking care of him and resent him SO much. Yet before pregnancy, I loved this dog to pieces. And since he senses my mood change, he has started acting out more and getting into more trouble, which makes me resent him more. It's a vicious cycle. I'm really, REALLY hoping that I go back to loving him after the baby is born. Is anyone else experiencing this? It makes me feel like such a horrible person. Edit: I should add that he's a great dane so when he follows me around the house, it gets really in the way!

No, I'm having the opposite!!! I want my girl to love on me but she's anti-mommy and only wants and listens to daddy now!!! I hate it!! I think she knows the baby is coming and is mad at me about it? It breaks my heart that she's stopped loving me. She used to share her love equally but not any more. Her 3rd birthday is the baby's due date and she's a lab so she's still a puppy.
@Knottie59802221 I kinda get where you're coming from, our dog is being a giant turd lately. I'm sure he's just stressed because we've been out of routine - I'm staying home from work more. He whines and cries a lot for attention (don't worry we give him lots and he gets 3 10-15 minute walks daily and 2 1.5 hours weekly) and the pitch of it has been driving me up the wall. I think it's just because he knows something is up. It's not our first so maybe he's apprehensive about another kiddo.
@SmallyMcSmall some people put tinfoil in the crib/basinnet, maybe that would help.
