Pregnancy Eye Problems??

Sorry this will be long. Ok...I've never had issues with my eyes before (EVER) aside from the fact that I do wear glasses. I am currently 5 weeks pregnant and have very recently (last week or so) been having vision problems in my right eye only. I notice it if I stand up to quickly that my right eye gets blurry for only a few seconds and then returns to normal. Also my right eye appears blurrier than my left but only when I look through it with my left eye closed. I went to the optometrist and he said I had elevated pressure in my right eye of 36 which again I have NEVER had. This all started right after I got over being sick so I thought it was something sinus related but the doctor at the walk in clinic didn't seem to think so (even though he wrote be a script for an antibiotic). I am freaking out and unsure what next step to take. I don't want to dose myself with drugs if I don't have to being in the first trimester and all. I am wondering if anyone else has had similar problems. I am a totally hypochondriac and have convinced myself that I have a brain tumor or something. HELP!!

Based on what you're describing, it sounds like exactly what I experience when I have optical migraines. Keep a record of when they happen,how long they last, what you're doing, and what's going on around you when they occur.

Mine are entirely stress induced. There's not really much that you can do about them. If yours is related to stress and not pregnancy (I've heard that vision can worsen during pregnancy), the best thing that you can do for yourself is to try to limit your stress (easier said than done, I know), and learn some coping techniques to calm you down. It's definitely worth a call to an opthamologist(sp?), though.

I would definitely talk with your doctor, that sounds like something that should be addressed. I'm not sure if there's a correlation with your pregnancy but still!

Pregnancy can cause changes in vision, but only your optometrist can tell you if they're related. Trust what they said and maybe run any medication past your ob.

Sounds like a follow up with your eye doctor is necessary. My eye doc said I could notice vision changes with pregnancy, but I think me meant like needing a stronger rx, not like real issues.

I have to wear my glasses a lot more than as need now that I'm pregnant but it doesn't sound like the same issue.

ETA- lurking from TTGP

Have you been in a car accident (even a minor one) or something similar lately? A coworker was in a minor car accident and had an issue with his ocular nerve. His vision problems sound somewhat similar to yours.
