I almost never have a clue what half of you are talking about in the UO when it comes to celebrities or TV shows.

I'm also sure I've said this before but I really don't like Beyonce. I don't get her popularity. And seriously? She's doing the Super Bowl half time show again this year? I realize Coldplay is doing it as well but could we not have to watch her again so soon after we already had to a few years ago? Guess it's another year we will be muting the halftime show and waiting for the game to start back up again.

And I don't think I could identify a Beyonce song if I heard one!

  • kiiiind of cranky with my husband today

He was supposed to go buy our new (used) car on Wednesday. Didn't get it done. Was supposed to go on Thursday. Didn't get it done. Was supposed to go today. Guess how that went!

I suspect he's hoping I'll finally go with him tomorrow which is like HAHA NOPE because I've been at the office until midnight or later all week banging out cases, and I will very probably be working over the weekend too. And we really need to get this done by Sunday because we're giving the old car to a friend, and she's coming to pick it up on Sunday afternoon.

I don't have time for this and I don't understand why he can't get things done in a timely fashion.
  • I need to sleep (only slept 3 hours from getting home from work at 4am this morning), wash the swing covers for the new baby, take some stuff to consignment, wash clothes, get my oil changed in my car (have no clue how I didn't realize I'm 8,000 miles over), go grocery shopping (and make a list)....BUT my ass is stuck to the couch after dropping DD off at the IL's for the night still wearing the shirt I spilled 1/3 of the $40 I spent at Five Guys when I got home from the doctor today. My teeth feel like they're wearing a sweater. I need to get it together.

I watched GG in its entirety on Netflix a year ago. It was a dark three period that I look back on fondly.

    I actually became a Dair fan :|
  • @PYLWhammy . I'm on board. I said the same thing when I saw she was in the halftime show. I'm out. She has had some fun songs but nothing worthy of the hype following her. I know it's not the popular stance but I'm okay with that. She completely lost me when the poles (stripper) came out. I promise Beyonce you can be famous and clothed.

Heh. I'm really into Egyptian culture and dance, and was shocked to see videos of Beyonce's concerts where she and her dancers to a stripper dance routine to a classic, beautiful old Egyptian song. Completely disrespectful and insensitive to the culture. Not too surprising, since her husband ripped off an Egyptian song.

The title alone would have have me changing the station. I also just dislike hip-hop/R &B/pop/etc. in general. The music, the lyrics, the culture...all of it.

Didn't want to create another thread to vent so here goes:

The saga of DH's grandma living with us continues. We are feeding her on our dime and she is giving half of what we feed her to her dog (even though she gets dog food from what we feed our dogs to give to hers). Today, I witnessed the dog eating off of HER PLATE then she took some of the food onto HER FORK and fed it straight to the dog's mouth. And continued to eat. Also, dropping food onto our furniture and feeding that dog out of her hands.

I seriously thought I was going puke. I texted DH what was happening because he was preoccupied and he took the dog away and told her it was disgusting what she was doing.

She is seriously vile and disgusting. I've never seen her bathe or showered once since she's been with us. We bought her shampoo and soap and they remain unopened.

I cannot wait till she is gone. I'm so concerned about my future child being around this disgusting woman.

To top it all off, she is not a nice person so her outside matches her inside.

I'm frustrated and annoyed and I feel stuck.
  • That is disgusting and also very bad for the dog.

as for her personal hygiene--does she suffer from any mental issues? You could bring that up with her doctor (are you all involved in that part of her life?) Ugh...sounds awful. Hugs to you!

    Thank you!

She does suffer from dementia which she takes medicine for. But I don't think she suffers enough that it debilitates her from doing daily life. She's still permitted to drive.
From what I've heard, from DH's parents, that's pretty much how she's been all her life. She's not a social woman and has no friends. Her life is dogs and TV, she has yet to leave our house on her own since she's been here. At one point, she had 13-14 dogs living with her at her own home with her abusive husband (not DH's grandfather). That is why we had to get her out of there. Now, she's doing her nasty habits in my house

My poor DH is so frustrated and stressed too.

@tgortney I believe things like not bathing and stuff are common with people who have dementia. My step FILs mother has it and she is the same way. She also started being incontinent and refused to wear adult diapers so she was sticking toilet paper in her pants and throwing it in the trash can. It was disgusting. She was like a child. They ended up having to put her in a nursing home so someone could watch over her 24/7.

There's no way she would go to a nursing home. She would rather live in a trailer in the middle of nowhere than be in a nursing home (mostly because they don't allow dogs, that's her coping mechanism). We're trying to buy her a house and get her settled with handicapped necessities. But until that's done, she will be living with us. I've spoken to DH and he's talked to her so hopefully she branches out and becomes more independent and importantly, improve hygiene

Yes, ignoring hygiene can be part of dementia. I'm so sorry! It is a really difficult thing to deal with as the person suffering from it may not respond to logic. Kudos to you for caring for her...

  • @countrygrl5533 I am totally with you on not getting the Beyonce obsession. Is she talented? Absolutely. Is her drive and success admirable? Definitely. I just don't get this "Queen" status. She doesn't annoy me but how people fawn over her is what annoys me.

My confession: I have had turkey deli meat every day this week so far. It was freshly sliced and not from the prepackaged section which I heard is not as bad so I am trying to make myself feel less guilty about it. I just am too tired to cook much since hubby is out of town all this week.
