2nd Trimester

Gender reveal!

So on Tuesday my FH and I will find out the sex of our baby. I originally wanted to have the US tech put it in an envelope and take it to a bakery so they can make a cake. My FH only has Tuesdays off and works all day every other day so we wanted the cake ready on Tuesday which after calling a bunch of places won't be possible because they need advanced notice. I would wait until the following Tuesday but my FH is being impatient. So what are some other fun ways for us to find out? We want it to be special because it's our first baby so we don't want to hear it straight from the US tech. We also planned on face-timing with my parents so they can be a part of it too.

  • Have a family member do a cake.
Or bring it to a store, pick out an outfit for each sex and have the cashier ring up the correct one and put it in a box for you.

I second letting a friend make the cake for you. My friend had her mom make cupcakes and she did her reveal at her baby shower. It was amazing to see her reaction.

ETA: DH and I plan on releasing balloons from a box. See if your local party store will do something like that. Filling a bunch of balloons takes very little time, and can be done with less notice.

That is a super cute idea! I wish we had someone who could make the cake for us but my FMIL doesn't like to bake and I think she wants to be surprised too. I just moved here so I don't really have friends yet.

You could also use a bakery.

What a cute idea! The cashier will probably get a kick out of it too lol. I just ordered gender reveal cupcakes today! They were kind of pricey but its a really fun way to celebrate half way point. My parents and Hubby's parents are so excited about it, plus all of our brothers and sisters. It's a nice thing to look forward to after having the Christmas blues :p

I guess I don't get this?  I mean personally I thought it was amazing to hear when it was just H and I in the room finding out. I mean you are looking right at him or her when you find out, that's pretty special IMO

    To each their own.
  • I feel confused on what FH and FMIL mean?

  • I did a piñata for a friend. We had cake & punch then all took turns wacking it. The last big couple of wacks we had the MTB do. Took pictures as the piñata busted & rained down colored confetti. She loved it & we got great photos.

  • @imakeeff0rts thank you!! I was really wracking my brain! First? No. Final? Probably not. Favorite? Ugh! Never would have landed on future.
  • My friend's sonographer/Dr's office had the phone number for the bakery my friend was using. All they did was call the bakery after the appointment and give the baker the sex of the baby.
That way no one was "in the know" before anyone else and it was literally a surprise for everyone.  Most offices wouldn't have a problem making a quick phone call.

  • You could try to have the bakery make a few cupcakes ahead of time, some filled blue and some filled pink, and ask them to have them in separate boxes and mark the sex reveal box after they check the envelope. That way you still get the surprise, and you can order ahead of time.
  • We ended up doing a balloon reveal! It was a lot of fun. We had the US tech put the gender in an envelope and brought it to Party City and they filled the box with the balloons!
