Sick at Work

So, today was the day. I just threw up at work. My office knows I'm pregnant, so it's no surprise. I've been nauseous about a week and a half and I am just now throwing up. My boss asked if I needed to go home. And that they don't need me here if I am that sick. I wanted to say "HELL YEAH", but if I have 4 more weeks of this, then what's the point of wasting PTO time? Anyone else have sick at work stories?

Re: Sick at Work

  • Yes. I get sick daily. I am a hair stylist and while pregnant I myself don't offer some services but the smells from other stylists doing perms, or straightening treatments get to me.
My first pregnancy the nausea lasted 23 weeks, I wish the rule of only
First trimester was for everyone, sadly it's not

  • I am sick today so I'm not going to work because I feel I might throw up on customers and I have a cold congested and chest hurts badly :(
  • So sick today but am at work. Thankfully it's promises to be an easier day. I nanny and some times I feel like I can't keep up with 3 kids while this sick.
  • Another hairstylist here, lol . The nausea has been tougher this time around. I will be talking to my Dr next week about it. Ugh.... I cant wait for this to subside.
I finally figured out the ticker thing! (I was so excited I thought I'd tell you all) LOL

  • I have the same problem!! I don't want to waste my PTO but the days are just dragging when I feel so queasy all day long
  • I had to leave work early today because I felt like I could throw up any minute. This is the worst it's been so far and I'm at 7 weeks. Any suggestions for snacks or drinks to help?
  • I too threw up at work today! This was the first day MS has hit me bad. I also can't stand to eat anything! I just got a couple French fries down bc they're the only thing that doesn't sound awful. Everything else I tried to eat today I just gagged on. I didn't call off or leave early bc if this is the first day this has happened who knows how long it will last. I'm 9w3d and I thought I was getting lucky not having it yet. Guess I better think again.

  • I had to go home early on Tuesday, and I called in Wednesday. I couldn't take it anymore. Dr. prescribed me Diclegis. OMG. I woke up this morning feeling SO MUCH BETTER. Still slightly queezy, but SO SO SO much more manageable. Nothing else worked. At work now and so far so good! Now I can start saving up my PTO...haha.

  • I have been battling this as well but have stayed at work. I don't eat early in the morning. Instead I take breakfast with me and eat it at my desk about three hours after I wake up. Cereal just turns my stomach but scrambled eggs have been wonderful. They keep the nausea at bay until lunch time. Fruit snacks tend to turn my stomach too but I keep trying them anyway. Good luck. Keep trying different things. I have also heard peanut butter and toast is good to curb nausea.
  • Honestly, I just eat whatever sounds good to me. My lunches this week have been toast with peanut butter, and I've been snacking on pretzels, cheez-its, goldfish, and saltines. I've found that strawberry pop tarts and plain cereal (Frosted Flakes and the like) are also really good.

Are they healthy? No. Do they keep me from getting nauseous? Yes. They say that baby takes what it needs from you/whatever you eat, so I'm not too concerned about the quality at this point. Once the nausea/aversions go away I'll start eating healthy again.

I also try to eat every couple of hours. As for drinks, anything carbonated helps (mostly ginger ale). I've also been drinking peppermint tea.
