Sorry to break it to you but you could stay at 2 cm for quite some time. Also, the spotting can be from the exam itself and not necessarily be your mucus plug. It's hard not to get too anxious at this point, but I wouldn't count on going into labor in the next few days. Good luck though, I hope it's not too much longer for you.
My sister in law lost her mucus plug around 4 days before actually going into labour. I really hope I'm not given all this false hope as I want to meet my boy!!!
I'm 38+5 and have been losing TONS of my mucus plug everyday for over a week now. The spotting was probably from checking your cervix. Not saying your not close and I know everybody is different. 2 weeks ago I was 1.5 cm, 1 week ago I was 2.5 cm, and at my appt this week I'm at 3 cm and 80% effaced. I'm glad my body is making progress but I can't hold my breath for labor to start soon.
No bubble to burst... lol I did loose my mucus plug, and I am still super ready, and super excited.
I started losing my MP around 30 weeks with my first two pregnancies, and have lost a few chunks here and there since early second tri. It can regenerate so you can lose it multiple times. Means nothing as far as labor goes.
