Trouble TTC

Happy New Year & New girl intro

Hi ladies,

I was on the Trying to get pregnant board but now that I've been TTC for over a year, I think this board will be a bigger support. All my tests are normal, the doctors don't know what's wrong. I do have hypothyroid. My gynae has suggested IUI if we can't conceive naturally in the next 3-4 months. Have taken a second opinion, who also suggested the same thing. Just going to consult another gynae the second opinion referred us to, on Saturday.

Looking forward to knowing you all. Good luck, everyone.

Best,
Nupur

  • Welcome!  I find this forum to be a tremendous support (though I do occasionally hop over to TTGP too).  I'm sorry you're having difficulty TTC.  I'm going to second what the PP asked about working with an RE.  Once you've been trying for a year with no luck, it's a good idea to consult with an RE.  They also run tests that OBGYNs don't, which could find another issue that could be key to finally getting that BFP.  What testing have you had so far?

  • Hi!
Thanks for replying. There's only one RE in the city I live. I've just started going to a new gynae, and I like her! She's more modern than my previous one, and better organised. Will see for a couple of cycles if the medicines she is giving help.

I am keen on seeing an RE, DH is dismissive of stuff I learn online- I learnt about an RE on the trying to get pregnant board. Hmm...maybe I'll take a call after this cycle.

    Tests-
Prolactin- was a little high, so follicle didn't rupture one cycle. Taking medicine, now it is normal.
    7 follicular studies.
Took Clomid 100 mg in April, had 7 follicles, so was benched that cycle.
TSH shot up in May, so sat that cycle out too.
Jul- Follicle did not rupture, discovered prolactin high, so started medicine for that.
Aug- Took Egg Sure, but follicle ruptured early.
    SA normal.
    HSG & AMH- normal.
Was on holiday the last two cycles.

    Sigh.

  • @nuttymask  if you've been trying for over a year then its definitely worth it to see an RE, just to make sure.  DH and I have been trying since December 2014. I just finished most of my fertility testing with my RE and it gave me peace of mind and was a HUGE relief.  Its nice to have a game plan and to have someone working hard to get you pregnant. Definitely worth considering.

@nuttymask  I also wanted to mention that although GYN's prescribe Clomid, they don't usually monitor it which can be dangerous.  Hopefully you GYN was monitoring you while on Clomid. Are you still on it?

  • Hmm...thanks @severmilli12 It wasn't a year of serious trying- half the time he was busy at work on BDs.
Will talk to DH again about this.

  • @severmilli12 She was monitoring, as in when the 7 follicles showed up, DH, I and she discussed and we decided to sit the cycle out as we were keen on one. My TSH shot up after that and so did my prolactin, so maybe that was because of the Clomid. Am not still on it. Taking Fertyl this cycle. Fingers crossed!
