Breastfeeding is harder than my college degree. Had the worst latch issues so we opted to EP. No one told me how guilty I would feel for wanting to FF. Wanted to FF at 2 weeks, still pumping at 6 because I feel so guilty.

I FF both my boys and with DD I'm EPING , there are days where all I want is to FF but here I am 6 weeks oUT still pumping .

Pregnancy brain does NOT go away after delivery

Yeah it just turns into mommy brain.

Mommy brain gets worse with each child as well ..

So true! I feel like I'm so bad at communicating now, and I used to be so good at it :(

  • All of these! I also never thought I would obsess and second guess every decision I make in regards to his care. It's so different when they are here!
Also, the noises they make! We barely sleep at night because my little guy grunts and groans and farts LOUDLY throughout thr night. My husband and I were both shocked that no one ever mentioned how noisy babies are in their sleep.
  • @rubirubi89 me too lol I am constant taking pictures and videos my phone has told me it's full a few times
  • I had several friends who mentioned the pee when you sneeze issue, but no one told me I would not be able to hold my bladder AT ALL when full.

I don't feel as lost and clueless as I thought I would be.

I've been able to hold my pee. But does anyone else find that gas occasionally slips?? Maybe a major tmi but it is an issue that needs resolving asap lol.

  • @sadyy131 and @laswett I have wondered if anyone else was especially gassy since giving birth. It's downright ridiculous. No wonder LO is so gassy...and it seems like we are in sync with our farting.

Also I didn't realize how different the experience would be. I have DS1 who is 10 and DD who is 9 and everything has been different than I remember it with them including the pregnancy. Everyone says that each one is different and I knew that but maybe it's the age difference or my selective memory that has me thrown for such a loop this time around. I seriously don't know how I did it before with a toddler because I can't get anything done this time around.

I fart all the time it's unreal, my 5 year old son actually told me I fart a lot.... I just figured it was because of the fenugreek and milk thistle Alonh with my post natal pills, also the lactation cookies I made.

  • I second everything.

Especially about sex. No one talks about how scary PP sex is. We've been back at it for a couple weeks now and I'm still nervous and shy! Definitely akin to losing your virginity.

No one told me that your first PP bowel movement is terrifying. I felt like I was giving birth all over again, (sorry TMI). I probably spent an hour in the bathroom working up the courage.

Breast feeding... Or pumping. No one told me a thing. I feel like this topic is so taboo. No one wants to discuss how incredibly hard this "natural" thing is. Maybe some of that is the Mom guilt we all feel. Maybe admitting you had a hard time makes you feel like you don't measure up. I hope in the future I can share my experience and help other moms.

My LO makes a lot of noise too when sleeping! Sometimes it drives us crazy. It's hard to sleep some nights. My LO is definitely a grunter!!

This! Especially the first BM after giving birth...no one warned me that it would be scary and because I was scared I would tense up more thus making it harder!

As for BFing everyone told me that it is so natural and worked so well for them or hearing that their kids BF like champs...while I was happy for them it made me feel like I was a crappy mom because LO and I just weren't in sync...we've got it figured out now but those first 6 weeks were really hard and an emotional rollercoaster for me!

Also no one warned me that my boobs wouldn't just leak but they would shoot milk...like a squirt gun and with no real warning...seriously the other day LO pulled off and my boob decided it wasn't done and shot milk all over LO and the floor! My husband was in the other room as I yelled for him to grab me a burp cloth, he comes in sees what's going on hands me the cloth and then starts laughing...it was pretty funny and I could laugh once I got it covered!
  • No one told me my kids would literly destroy everything! No one told me that boys were not only very destructive starting at a very young age but that they are go go go from sun up until dun down!!
Wouldnt change a thing though :) love havin 4 boys!
  • @jdal1206 Seriously, my boobs don't just leak, they spray! If my shirt is a little tight when I pull it up, I just have a continuous stream that sprays her in the face. It's happened multiple times! I leak all the time. It's ridiculous. I also had no idea that bottle refusal happened. Breastfeeding was not easy, but bottle feeding has been so much more difficult.

You could maybe try other positions. One mom said she had to put her LO in the swing and couldn't hold her otherwise she wouldn't eat from a bottle. Could also be the bottle/nipple you're using. And it could be that your baby won't take a bottle from you since you have the real thing. I left the house and had DH give Zeke the bottle the first time we tried bottle feeding. If you want to make bottle work, you have a few options
  • @rachswi I tried a rocker and she didn't like that. She likes being held. Also had a friend and dh try. My friend made a little progress. She and I are finally making progress with the bottle though. We went through a bunch of nipples and ended up back at the first ones we bought. We had to work in her sucking. We finally got her to take a pacifier that is similar to the nipple. When she finally started sucking, we pulled it out and gave her the bottle. I do have to distract her to get her to take it. Now I'm a little worried we might be in the same cycle....that now she'll only take it from me. We'll find out Monday.... :(
  • Nobody ever really told me how things would be constantly changing back and forth.  People obviously say how they grow up so fast and won't stay little forever, but don't really get into how what works for one night to help LO sleep will suddenly stop working or how something that didn't work a week ago will suddenly be exactly what they need.  I feel like just when I'm starting to get into a rhythm with DS, he keeps changing it up. I'm a big planner and like to be in control, so he's already taught me a lot about letting go and going with the flow.

Also, back to what other moms have said, everyone told me how the world shifts and suddenly you have an overwhelming love for your LO as soon as they're born.  I guess while I always loved him and felt a duty to take care of him, I didn't feel that overwhelming rush.  I get little glimpses of that overwhelming feeling here and there (on the car ride from the hospital, when he smiles at me now, etc) but I felt like a bad mom for a while since nobody else (until you guys) mentioned that sometimes love builds instead of bursts, and that's ok too.
