Re: Tuesday Check-in

  • How far along are you? EDD
    -September 7th... 4w6d

    How are you feeling?
    - I woke up feeling terrible... The worse I have felt so far. I'm nibbling on dry frosted mini wheats and trying to hold down the need to puke.

    Doing anything baby related today?
-doing a beta draw. I did one last week and my dr said it was perfect and didn't need to be repeated. I decided I wanted to repeat it for peace of mind.

    Rants/Raves/Randoms:
-My Dh did it again!! He is amazing! I had dinner ready when he got home. After we ate, he cleaned up and told me to go take a long shower. When I got out, Dh and DS were playing playdoh and did so for over an hour. I then went to bed and Dh put our son to bed and let me sleep.

    Questions?
-Anyone try the Preggie Pop drops? They are 6.99 for like 10 which seems outrageous when the ingredients don't seem much different than other hard candies. But... If they work, they're worth it. Anyone?!?

GTKY: What's your favorite book that you could read multiple times?
-I don't typically read books more than once but I loved "November 9" and read that twice in a row.

    How are you feeling?
Fine. Unlike my other 3 pregnancies I have no symptoms at all.

    Doing anything baby related today?
Other than checking the Bump nothing at all.

    Rants/Raves/Randoms:
Yesterday I was in shock all day, today I am feeling excited about this.

    Questions?
Not yet.   Being this is my 4th I am not sure I will have many.

GTKY: What's your favorite book that you could read multiple times?
The Enemy series by Charlie Higson. I have a thing for zombies.  I read four of them in a week!

    - 4w exactly! 9/13

    How are you feeling?
    - really really tired.

    Doing anything baby related today?
    - not in the plans but it's early yet

    Rants/Raves/Randoms:
    - I am sick of cleaning my house. Why does it have to get so dirty every week?! :s

    Questions?
@reesaXden I have them but I haven't tried them yet, though both of my friends who were pregnant used them and said they were great. When we told our one friend (the only one we're telling until 2nd tri) she brought some to me. I'll be trying them once MS hits.

GTKY: What's your favorite book that you could read multiple times?
    - the Harry Potter series!!!!!

  • How far along are you? EDD?5 wks 5 days, Sept 1

How are you feeling? Fine. Totally fine. Symptoms are gone and I'm freaking a little

Doing anything baby related today? Reading some baby books

Rants/Raves/Randoms:I set up my first appts! Next week I have a phone appt with a nurse then the 28th is an US! I insisted on getting my betas checked but they weren't concerned. UGH. Ease my nerves doc!

Questions? Woke up today and my breasts feel normal. They were so sore I couldn't hug anyone! Freaking a little. Anyone else?? I liked having it just to... feel pregnant

GTKY: What's your favorite book that you could read multiple times? When I was a kid it was Where The Red Ferns Grow. I'm not sure now!
  • How far along are you? EDD? 5w6d EDD: 8/31

    How are you feeling?
queasy and tired. Can I just Netflix & chill for the next 8 months?

    Doing anything baby related today?
    Nope

    Rants/Raves/Randoms:
Trying to decide if I want to go to a party tomorrow night. It will be with all my friends in the theater crowd, and I definitely don't want to give away the pregnancy, but don't feel like drinking water out of a beer bottle all evening and pretending like I don't wish I'm in bed.

    Questions?
Did anyone else accidentally lie to the nurse about LMP when scheduling your first appointment? I ovulated on CD 17, so somehow I just told her my LMP started on November 26th instead of the 23rd. It was honestly unintentional, but at least they'll give me a proper EDD, right? I realize it's only 3 days difference, but didn't know if I should correct that at my appointment.

GTKY: What's your favorite book that you could read multiple times?
Anything by Tom Robbins. He has such a clever way with words and analogies. I need to catch up on some good reading and dust off my Kindle.

  • How far along are you? EDD? 9/1...5w5d

    How are you feeling?
Some sinus-y issues but, other than that, pretty great, actually...the best I've felt thus far.  Trying to just enjoy it and not worry as I know pregnancy symptoms can come and go.

    Doing anything baby related today?
    Probably not.

    Rants/Raves/Randoms:
My DD did something incredibly disgusting last night and I almost threw up all over her.  I won't even say what it was as I know we're all a bit queasy right now.  But yuck.  Please, child, don't ever do that again.

    Questions?
    None.

GTKY: What's your favorite book that you could read multiple times?
Briar Rose by Jane Yolen...I first read it in middle school (so it's a really easy read).  I loved it then and decided to reread it in college and loved it so much I bought it and have read it again a couple times since.  It's nothing "epic" but it's a good story with a creative edge.  (The story of Sleeping Beauty entwined with a fictional account of a woman living through the Holocaust.)

  • How far along are you? EDD? 5 weeks today...I'm not sure what my brain was thinking, but I kept listing my due date as 9/8. According to my LMP it's actually 9/6

How are you feeling? Just tired. It's really hard to get going in the morning.

Doing anything baby related today? Hopefully making my initial appointments.

Favorite Book? I don't think I have a favorite. I tend to like easy reads. I love books by Jane Green, Sophie Kinsella or Emily Giffin.

Doing anything baby related today? Might call to make my first appointment if I can find a quiet time.

Rants/Raves/Randoms: I just want my formerly good sleeper to sleep again. Going on over a month of my daughter fighting bedtime and waking up multiple times a night. Last night was hell.

    Questions? None.

How are you feeling? Pretty good! Cramps have gotten lighter which is nice. Boobs are still sore, and my cold is finally dying down.

Doing anything baby related today? Just bought a Bellaband. I'm going to blame the fact that my pants don't fit on early pregnancy bloat. :D We also officially signed up for daycare already! Seems crazy early, but we got the last November spot at our preferred place.

Rants/Raves/Randoms: My brother in law comes in to town today! We're always excited when family visits us.

    Questions? None today.

GTKY: What's your favorite book that you could read multiple times? Count of Monte Cristo. It's too log to read multiple times though.
  • @reesaXden the preggie pops actually did work for me last time around. I had this nagging nausea throughout the day and they helped calm it down some. I say it's worth it.
  • How far along are you? EDD?
    5 weeks 2 days, September 4th

    How are you feeling?
Pretty good, just tired in the evenings and feeling sick only when I have an empty stomach

    Doing anything baby related today?
    Nope

    Rants/Raves/Randoms:
This is my first pregnancy so I have no idea what to expect but I am soooo excited!

    Questions?
    Not yet!

GTKY: What's your favorite book that you could read multiple times?
I'm not really a book person
  • How far along are you? EDD? Sept 6 EDD for now

    How are you feeling?
Good, maybe a little crampy but also using a stationary bike under my desk, so hard to say if it's a muscle cramping or uterine. Nothing severe or too alarming

    Doing anything baby related today?
No... is anyone?  I won't do anything baby related (other than bumping) until after the first ultrasound... even then probably not until the anatomy scan.

    Rants/Raves/Randoms:
Random - seeing an ENT for my 1 year old son today. He had way too many ear infections in his first year (I think 5 or 6 courses of antibiotics? maybe more?) which is really common in Maine. Interested to see if tubes are in our future or what they think

    Questions?
    Nada

GTKY: What's your favorite book that you could read multiple times?
I've reread a lot of the books that I "read" in middle school/high school because I honestly never really read them the first go-round, just didn't have the time with other homework/sports.  I've recently reread The Great Gatsby, Lord of the Flies, Catcher in the Rye, etc etc.  All are fantastic and should have been read the first time - so much easier than guessing and pretending I had read!

How are you feeling? Got a tiny bit nauceous this morning but I think it's more mental than anything else at this point.

Doing anything baby related today? Nope

Rants/Raves/Randoms: I think I get 12 wks paid maternity, I also am going to use vacation time which should bring me to 16 wks off!

Questions? Do you think I can get away with one stroller? My DD will be almost 3 when this LO is born. I'm thinking I could just get the wheeled board attachment and she'll be good for short trips. We also have an umbrella stroller for longer trips like the zoo so we'd be able to use 2 strollers as long as there are 2 of us to push. Really don't want to buy a double.

GTKY: What's your favorite book that you could read multiple times? I love the Shopaholic books by Sophie Kinsella or Jemima J by Jane Green. Looks like I'm with you@lizc216

  • 1. I'm 5 weeks today!

    2. I'm feeling great, but still constipated and b****y at times.

    3. Not doing anything baby related.

    4. Rant: The restaurant owner of the place I'm having my son's baptism at this Sunday called YESTERDAY and said he accidentally double booked 2 parties for that day ... So my party of 40 has to move upstairs to a TINY &$@?$&ING ROOM!!!!!!!!! Because the other party has more people and needs the space in the downstairs room. People are SO INCOMPETENT!!!!!!!!!!!!

    5. Question: How do I just go with the flow of things and not let then bother me?! How?!?!?!

    6. Book I could read over & over:
    "Pride & Prejudice" &
    The"A Discovery of Witches" series
  • How far along are you? EDD? My due date is 9/9

@PSUBecky23 My 9.5 month old has been going through major sleep difficulties lately... I totally feel you on this. He used to go to bed just fine. Now he fights it like you wouldn't believe. He's also waking up a lot in the middle of the night. Idk wtf happened lol but it's driving me & DH bonkers!

Then again he has been going through major developmental milestones lately, especially in terms of language. I read that things like that can have something to do with sleep issues.
  • @jilligirl16, sorry you're dealing with that. I think it's totally normal at that age though because there is a big wonder week around nine months. I remember it with my daughter. She was a great sleeper after that.

If my daughter is dealing with a development, she better be able to recite physic theories once this is all over.

How far along are you? EDD?
    5w5d EDD Sept 1st.

    How are you feeling?
Today I am feeling good, my first ultrasound is next Monday, the 11th and I really can't wait.

    Doing anything baby related today?
Nope, except taking my meds. I don't want to even look at anything I could buy before I hear a heartbeat or possibly later.

    Rants/Raves/Randoms:
I had such a high beta at 16dp5dt, 2740 that it made me think it could be twins. But we only transfered one embryo so it is just wishful thinking really.

Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, A Song of Ice and Fire are only a few examples.

How far along are you? 5 weeks today! EDD? 9/6 (hey EDD buddies @LizC216 and @jilligirl16 ;) )

How are you feeling? Well I think I spoke too soon yesterday! Woke but this morning feeling all kinds of yucky. Not necessarily nauseous, but just off. Also very dizzy getting into the shower.

Doing anything baby related today? Continuing to read my pregnancy book, and taking my 5 month picture when I get home!

Rants/Raves/Randoms: I'M STARVING!! And I swear my boobs have doubled in size! Not necessarily complaining, but it unbelievable! haha

    Questions? Nope.

GTKY: What's your favorite book that you could read multiple times? Not a big reader. Not sure I'd like to reread books anyways. I'm kind if a one and done girl (when it comes to books, at least!)

How are you feeling? Well! Just a bit sleepy.

Doing anything baby related today? Made my first doc appointment today. They told me they had no openings this week, but after I mentioned I just got a positive test they squeezed me in on Thursday. Yay!

Rants/Raves/Randoms: My dog had surgery today. The poor old guy keeps whineing and thrashing his head around, and he's falling over a lot because he's still so doped up. Hopefully he's doing better tomorrow.

    Questions? none.

Doing anything baby related today? I have hypothyroidism so I went to do blood work with my primary care doctor. He's going to check all the things that will most likely get checked again at my obgyn appointment on the 18th

Rants/Raves/Randoms: husband is really excited about the baby today! He swings back and forth from excitement to being absolutely terrified. He was saying that we should go register for things today.

Questions? I've been super crampy lately and usually use a hot pad to alleviate the cramps but obviously that's not a good solution now. Any suggestions to help with pain that doesn't involve medication?

@reesaXden I thought the Preggie Pops/Drops worked and I spent a bunch of money on them. Then I just started buying lemon drop hard candy and that did the trick. So I guess I'm saying they work, but maybe try the hard lemon candy as a cheaper option?

ETA: I just remember I also did lemon heads. I think it was the sour taste that was helping me out. Maybe, who knows??

  • How far along are you? EDD?  5w3d.  EDD 9/3 (unless that changes at our first ultrasound on the 7th; although since we did IVF, I have a very good idea of when I conceived).

    How are you feeling?
My boobs are killing me and I've got a constant lower backache.  More of the same for my other symptoms.  The on and off nausea hasn't transitioned into true morning sickness yet.  I'm half looking forward to it happening (because it'll make me feel more secure) and half dreading it.

    Doing anything baby related today?
Been working on our baby registry.  Mainly picking out nursery decor.  I honestly get completely overwhelmed by all the "necessities" and I'm just focusing on the fun stuff right now.  I know it's early, but I've got babies on the brain.

    Rants/Raves/Randoms:
I've suddenly, out of nowhere, developed a (probably) irrational fear that this pregnancy is either ectopic or heteroptic.  I don't have any history or risk factors (other than having done IVF, which has a slightly increased rate of ectopic implantation), but the fear is crippling.  My ultrasound is in 2 days and I'm turning into a basket case.  Part of me is dreading the ultrasound (because of the fear of getting bad news) and part of me can't wait to get it done so that I can hear that everything is okay.

    Questions?
How do you pick a good crib mattress?  I'm terrified of choosing the "wrong" one.  I thought about just going on Amazon and choosing the one with the most reviews and highest rating, but I don't know if that's the right approach.  I keep hearing that organic is best because of the potential for toxins/chemicals in the non-organic ones, but I'm not sure how important that really is.  I'm a crunchy mama, but we're also not able to spend a ton of money on the nursery since my husband is the sole breadwinner for our family and we don't want to put ourselves in debt buying needlessly expensive things.

GTKY: What's your favorite book that you could read multiple times?
I have a lot of favorite books, but I think I'd have to say Invisible Monsters by Chuck Palahniuk.  I love all of his older books (his last 3 or 4 have been disappointments, IMO), but for some reason, that one's my favorite.  Other choice would be Roald Dahl's Tales of the Unexpected.  Awesome short stories if you like twist endings or just plain weird plotlines.

How far along are you? EDD? 4 weeks 3 days, EDD 9/10

    How are you feeling?
    Tired and crampy

    Doing anything baby related today?
I had to run some errands, so I stopped by a local thrift shop to look at baby clothes. It's way, way too early (in my opinion) to start buying anything, but I just wanted to see what they had.

    Rants/Raves/Randoms:
I really want DH to get our new health insurance cards. He started a new job yesterday and I don't want to make my initial OB appointment until we have insurance cards. Or at least until we have the contract numbers and stuff.

    Questions?
    Not today.

GTKY: What's your favorite book that you could read multiple times?
I re-read all of the books I have ever read. And I read most everything. From Harry Potter, to 50 Shades, and almost everything in between.

@MojieJo I am not crunchy... my kid probably glows in the dark but I'd say skip the organic mattress and get any with a good review. Plan to get it early enough to get it out of the plastic and air it out before use :)

  • Thank you, @AnnaS930!

That's kind of what I was thinking.  And I appreciate the tip on getting it early.  I was wondering about that, since I assumed it would have some off-gassing (since plastic stuff usually does) but hadn't considered letting it air out for some reason.

GTKY: What's your favorite book that you could read multiple times?
Discovery of Witches, Harry Potter...I love reading so much (our spare bedroom is currently my 'library' and I'm a little sad I'll have to pack away the books when this baby comes) but I rarely reread a book, I think I have book FOMO.

@jilligirl16  I love the Discovery of Witches series!!  Waiting for the final one to come out just about killed me.

@PSUBecky23 I followed the wonder weeks book.... But stopped because my kid seemed to always be in a leap. I loved how the leaps started off short, then turned into like, month long ordeals lol His whole life's a leap!!

    Edit for spelling
  • How far along are you? EDD?
    -4w6d. September 6 or 7th.

    How are you feeling?
-feeling so different. I don't have any of they bloating, gas or prices & pulling I had with my DS, 5 years ago.

    Doing anything baby related today?
-called my OB and confirmed when he wants to see me. He said not for another 3 weeks. Fine with me.

    Rants/Raves/Randoms:
-I'm feeling like DS is going to get gyped out of a 5th birthday party this year. His birthday is 9/16. Baby is due before then. Can I really have his birthday party on 9/17, have everything ready while taking care of a newborn? I'm sure going to try!

    Questions?
-Cats. Toxoplasmosis. What's the risk? We've had him (Whiskers) for over a year. If he had it, would I have an immunity to it?

GTKY: What's your favorite book that you could read multiple times?
-honestly, I don't have time to read these days. But I may break out my What to Expect book again.
  • @irishblessings916 I have two indoor cats myself but to be safe DH is on kitty poo duty until baby is earth side.  I think it really is an issue if your cat is outside and tends to be a hunter and eats it prey.  One of my kitties caught and killed a shrew last month in the house.

  • @MojieJo If you haven't already, check out the book Baby Bargains. It was a HUGE resource to me when expecting DD. It literally goes item by item, giving related info, whether it is a "nice to have" or "need to have", things to consider/avoid when purchasing and even goes so far as to give specific good, better and best options, each a solid option but in different price ranges to fit different budgets. It's awesome!

  • How far along are you? EDD?
    4w, 9/13

    How are you feeling?
A little crampy, kinda grossed out by food but not enough to not want to eat. My skin is breaking out like I'm back in middle school.

    Doing anything baby related today?
Looked at midwives and birth centers and hospitals and decided on a birth center run by midwives that also does home births. I work in a hospital and am totally freaked out by the thought of being a patient in one for something as normal as childbirth. I'm not sure I want to do it at home, but it's nice to have the option in case I decide to.

    Rants/Raves/Randoms:
@TheTamedShrew I wish I would've lied about my LMP date! I called to make my first appointment today and told the midwife I am due 9/13. She asked when my LMP was and I told her, and said that I ovulated early so I'm really further along but she just went with 9/19. Who finds out they're pregnant at 6dpo?! I know it doesn't matter in the long run, but I was growing fond of 9/13 and the scientist in me is irritated at the inaccuracy. I think I'll keep 9/13 for my own keeping track anyway. I will attempt to argue my case at my first appointment.

    Questions?
    Not today
