@Lyette1206 I totally went to sleep at 7:30 last night.  My hubby was having a meeting at our house (volunteer organization he runs he's so involved in so many things and I feel so lazy!) and I was like "awesome- I'm off to bed!"  Also, I hear you on the Christmas presents.  Boxing day I actually went into my daughter's room with a garbage bag while she was playing with her dad and did a little clean out.  She was just happy to have her new toys organized and it's never come back to haunt me.

@samsonator I'm glad I'm not alone.  My bump looks average but I can tell the little bean is at the absolute bottom of it.  When I go for my apt next week, I'm going to advise my obgyn to not waste time searching my belly for the hb and head south!

Same here.  OB tried my poor excuse for a bump, quickly said "that's mom's" and ended up finding it pretty much right below my low-riding-pants button.  This is why people keep telling me I don't even look pregnant.  Ugh.

Rant/Rave/Symptoms? So, I have not had a headache one time the entire Christmas break and now my first and second days back to work and I've had a terrible headache ALL DAY! I think it's my computer screen, maybe. Rave- I found RH baby website today and I'm in love with all of it, but it's WAY too expensive :( Symptoms today include the usual (mild RLP, indigestion) and also sore boobs again, today, which I haven't really had in a while.

What are you doing to prepare for baby? Really started looking at nursery stuff today which has me giddy.

    Questions? Nah.

GTKY: Are you an early bird or a night owl? Night owl.  Less now than before, but like PP said, even if I try to go to be relatively early, like 10, I still don't end up settling down until 11:30.  I hate getting up early, though.

Rant/Rave/Symptoms? RLP is so bad i cant do much of anything. Bath seems to be the only thing helping a little bit. But holy oww!

What are you doing to prepare for baby? Furniture comes in about 3 weeks. So just serious house prep, gotta paint gotta move things etc.

GTKY: Are you an early bird or a night owl? Early bird!!
  • **Question**

Forgot to ask this one earlier...for prior moms or FTMs currently experiencing this with innie belly buttons ... when did your belly button indent push out in pregnancy?  Mine is really shallow lately, I used to be able to fit my thumb fully in there and now it fits just my pinky tip (barely)  It seems to be rapidly disappearing at nearly 18 weeks.  Is that "normal"?
  • @Love4Labs326 How do you think they might react? I think that people have their weird opinions and attitudes but when they see the baby they're going to love it. Babies are too adorable. People can't help themselves! I know I'm not much help but this is my roundabout way of saying that I think even if things don't go smoothly at first, they will likely come around and adore your LO.

Totally normal. I have an innie and it ended up being completely flat by the time I delivered.
  • @Love4Labs326: Hopefully your sisters will be excited for you. After all, adopting is wonderful, and I don't think should be celebrated any less so or differently. I like the slideshow idea from PP, or depending on your comfort level and where you all live, announce in person?
  • How far along are you? 19 weeks

Rant/Rave/Symptoms? Dear Heartburn, go away. Also, amen to everyone with colds. I feel like I'm constantly catching something from DS lately.

What are you doing to prepare for baby? Teaching DS how to say "baby." He actually got it this morning. Of course, he has to lift up my shirt to say it, but it's so cute!

    Questions?

GTKY: Are you an early bird or a night owl? Was always a night owl and now I'm completely the opposite. I love being up and ready by 7am and in bed by 9pm (or earlier..)
    DS born 6/2/14 #2 due 5/31/16

  • How far along are you? 17 weeks and 6 days

Rant/Rave/Symptoms? Stiff neck and tension headache today ☹️

What are you doing to prepare for baby? Signed up for classes today. I am taking Lamaze class, baby boot camp, and a breast feeding class. My husband is military and base offers them all for free so I figured why not especially since this is our first.

    Questions? None today.

GTKY: Are you an early bird or a night owl? Definitely an early bird.

How far along are you? 17+!!!!

Rant/Rave/Symptoms? Last night we went in for an appointment and heard baby's heartbeat. I was really nervous because I haven't been feeling him lately. We got back home and I felt him a LOT while going to sleep. :):):)

What are you doing to prepare for baby? Nothing whatever! ("That's very important!")

Questions? Is it ridiculous that I JUST NOW got into the legging thing? (Don't worry. I'm wearing them under super-long shirts.) I think pregnant women in long shirts and leggings look cute and super cozy.

GTKY: Are you an early bird or a night owl? NIGHT OWL! Hate is a strong word, and the perfect word to describe how I feel about mornings.

  • @MrsB8214 @candicek15 @crdo   It's not that I'm afraid to tell them, I'm just not excited and really don't even care to tell them.  Only my parents and DH's parents and 1 aunt (who lives 1,000 miles away) know right now.  We announced with a series of pictures.  I just don't think they "get it" and I just feel like it'll be like, "oh btw we're adopting...what's for dinner?"

My oldest sister is 150% drama and all about her all the time and gets upset when it's not about her.  Then my middle sister and I have really grown apart and our relationship just isn't what it used to be.  She has 2 year old twins and the whole family is completely in love with them and could care less about anything else.  I just wish I didn't even have to tell them.  I realize how bad that sounds but I'm upset that I'm not excited to tell them so I've just been avoiding it, thinking I might become excited but I'm not.

  • @Love4Labs326 I'm sorry that you are going through this and aren't excited to tell them! That's really annoying when family members want all the attention to themselves! I think a big deal should be made out of it because after all YOU'RE ADOPTING A CHILD!!!!!! And that to me is pretty freakin' awesome :) Are you close to your mom? If so maybe she could help you figure out how to tell them. Or you could do a cute picture with you, DH, and your pups with a pair of booties or something and send it to them that way it isn't in person and doesn't feel so awkward to you maybe?

@mkemommy I'm a FTM so I don't have an answer to your question but just need to comment on the belly button situation.....I HATE BELLYBUTTONS and I don't want mine to pop out and touch my shirt or get touched when someone rubs my belly. It literally makes me cringe just thinking about it!

@Boonhilde I just now got into the leggings thing too! I used to be adamant that leggings were not pants (and still believe private parts should be covered lol) but I wear them all the time now with long shirts or sweaters...I actually wore one today lol
  • To add onto the leggings comment...I have literally been living in my multiple pairs of BeMaternity leggings from Target for weeks. I think I've put on jeans with my belly band maybe 2 or 3 times in the last month. They just aren't comfortable. Plus, leggings are so versatile - I can dress them up or down and still look cute ;)
  • @HBamama2B the squirrel picture cracked me up.
@mrsschmity thank you.  I had sort of taken over the closest in what is going to be the nursery and now I have to find a new home for the luggage, blankets, and some other stuff.
@crdo good luck on the reno. They are a lot of work, but a new kitchen will be great.
@BakerBird525  there is still plenty of time to start the nursery. I don't even have theme yet, hopefully lo will not be shy at the next ultrasound so I will be able to do some more planning.
  • @Love4Labs326: That stinks. I'm sorry you have to deal with this. In this case, I like @MrsB8214 's suggestion about sending then a cute picture to announce. That way you tell them and get it out of the way, but don't have to deal with any drama that might result in person?

@mrsschmity: Finally found some BeMaternity leggings in my size at target this weekend. Holy hell, now I get it. They're still a smidgen too big for my "belly" right now, but they are 1) SO comfy, and 2) can't see my booty through them when I bend over! Imma need a few more. Also, I love the Liz Lange maternity tanks with the thick straps. I like the length, fabric thickness, and softness. Way to go, Target.

@Stephanier99: Thanks! Yes, lots of work, but man it'll feel good to have it done.
  • How far along are you?   18+1

Rant/Rave/Symptoms?  No rants, so yay! Rave is I just got back from a dr appointment. It was the first time my DH got to see the baby on the ultrasound. Confirmed we're having a little boy. He was SUPER squirmy so I didn't get any good pics, but I go back in 2 weeks for the actual anatomy scan. He was 90th percentile for his weight - doc thinks we're just going to have a big baby (I was hoping for something normal and not a giant UGH)

What are you doing to prepare for baby?  The car seat I ordered (Chicco Keyfit 30) came today! Started our registry over the weekend and trying to figure out what nursery furniture to get. My DH is super paranoid about toxins and any furniture not made from solid wood, so everything we're looking at is $$ and terrifying me as far as budget goes.

GTKY: Are you an early bird or a night owl? DEFINITELY early bird. as soon as the sun goes down (and sometimes before), any motivation I have to be productive or even awake goes straight out the window. I don't mind getting up early and taking my time sipping some coffee.
  • @MrsB8214 @crdo Do you think I could/should mail it to them? We already have a few pictures that we took.  I just don't know if they would be offended if we put it in the mail.  We are going to my middle sister's home on Saturday for their twins 2nd birthday party.  I see them pretty frequently and feel like I'm holding back but I'm just disappointed with myself that I'm not excited about it.  I think mailing it would be the best for me, just because I don't really want to be even more disappointed with their reaction but I'm not sure how they would feel.  Should I care? lol

  • @mkemommy my belly button has already changed a lot! It started changing around 14-15 weeks , which I wasn't expecting as my bump was barely there. Just today me and my hubby were looking at it and commenting on how different it is. It hasn't completely popped out, but isn't really an innie anymore either.

  • @Love4Labs326 I think if mailing it is the best for YOU that's what you should do! They should feel happy you took the time to send it to them and then if they say anything about it not being in person just say you couldn't wait to get their call and hear their reaction individually :) You could send them soon and then Saturday when you see them you won't feel like you're holding back from them but it's totally up to you! I really hope they are happy for you and if not I'll be an honorary sister because I'm so happy for you!!

Also you shouldn't care about their reaction because you and DH are excited and if they can't be as excited for you that shows a lot about their character. I had an aunt who didn't give the reaction I thought she would and at first was hurt by it then I decided who cares I'm over the moon and so is DH and that's all that matters in the end!
  • @MrsB8214 Thank you SO much for those kind words.  I really appreciate it.  I think that's what I'll do.  I'll print and mail them in the morning.  Maybe it will get there before Saturday but if it doesn't oh well!

  • @Love4Labs326 I think that sounds like a great plan! And you are more than welcome! Us moms have to stick together and support each other :)

Yes, if that's what is best for you, then mail them the cards. If they get upset or if they aren't excited for you like any decent sister should be, that's on them. This announcement is about you, your DH, and YOUR growing family.
  • @Love4Labs326 i like the mailing idea too! I hope by Saturday they are super excited for you. But if they can't be we all are. So excited to have you with us!
