Back on 12/23 I had an US, I was 20w5d. The technician was having a heck of a time getting the proper measurements and images she wanted/needed. When I left her she said I'd have a follow-up appointment with her in 1-2 weeks to try again. Afterwards, when I was in the room with my doctor she said another US technician looked at what my tech had gotten and recommended I go to the hospital to use one of their better machines for a level 2 US. I asked my doctor if there was anything I should be worried about and she said no. Fast forward a week, (because of the holidays) a scheduling assistant for the hospital finally called to schedule my appointment. She said I would be seeing a perinatologist for my level 2 US. Since that's the first "label" I'd heard I started googling, which was a big mistake. I'm trying not to psych myself out since my doctor said I there was nothing to worry about, but considering my appointment is this Friday morning it's starting to creep in. So, my question is have any of you had this experience or something similar?
Re: Perinatologist?
When is your appointment? FX'd for good results!
@js8812 my appointment is this Friday, 1/8, at 9:30am.
Thanks ladies for helping calm my nerves. I am looking forward to seeing LO again
*Edited for typos
It's actually pretty common to have to go back for more pictures so try not to worry. Friday will be here before we know it. Please update afterward!
UPDATE: saw the perinatologist today and while LO was being uncooperative again they did get about 90% of the pictures and measurements they wanted, but I have to go back in a month to see him again just to get more measurements. He kept stressing that this was not some code for a defect or a potential defect. Baby is developing right on schedule and everything looks normal and healthy. I had a huge sigh of relief!!! Baby weight in at 1Ibs, 2oz today and doctor said in the 31percentile (not quite sure what that means). Happy Mumma here
@gemini2005how did your appointment go today?
It sounds like our lo's have a lot in common- both of them enjoy giving the ultrasound tech a hard time! I was told they got all of the heart pictures although it took a while but I know the tech was VERY thorough. I'm still waiting on the radiologist report which was suppose to be sent to my doctor and my cousin who is an OB. Hopefully,I will hear from someone today or tomorrow.
Im so glad you got good news today and they got more measurements. Just think of the awesome baby photo album your DS will have by the time he's born with all of the ultrasounds haha!
