Don't want to go to the Dr!

Hi- it seems everyone is so excited to go to their first appt except me! I'm about 7 weeks and still haven't even called my dr yet. I had a MMC over the summer so I guess I'm just scared of facing it again. Maybe I should switch Drs? Any advice appreciated!!

Re: Don't want to go to the Dr!

  • My feeling is that I would rather go to the dr and get checked out. I had low progesterone with my daughter and with my loss, so this time, though anxious, I wanted it checked immediately. Also if I had any bleeding or cramping, I wanted to be established as an ob patient again.

  • My last trip to the OB at 7 weeks revealed a blighted ovum :( And I'm heading to the OB this Friday. First Appt. At 7 weeks. Nervous.
  • I haven't even called yet! I'm still unsure which OB I want my old one likely isn't an option bc I had 2 CS and I want a vbac and that office isn't super vbac friendly but especially after 2. But I hate my other hospital choice and I had a mc with the other ob office for that hospital and they were terrible

  • I would definitely go as soon as you can, and trust me I completely understand being scared! I had 2 MMC's and was so nervous this time around but I'm so glad I went in when I did because I ended up having low progesterone... I actually kind of made up an excuse to go in a week earlier (I said I had a UTI) just because I had a feeling I should. I guess mothers intuition starts early!

    Best of luck to you!
  • maybe you'll be lucky like me and not have to go in until 11 weeks!

  • I had a mc back in October and my OB wanted me to call as soon as I got a BFP so they could check my progesterone and HCG. Sure enough, I went in at 4 weeks and found out my progesterone was low so they started my on a progesterone supplement right away to reduce the risk of m/c. I would definitely call asap and get in! Not knowing what's going on doesn't change the outcome, and you could very well get in and see the heartbeat on an ultrasound at this point!

We had a mc in August, it's absolutely scary to be pregnant after that.
With that being said I can tell you that when you see the baby and hear a heartbeat it's the most comforting feeling. And above all else, you want to make sure your body is producing everything it needs to be. You should call your OB.

@Ktande22 Keep in mind the hospital is 48-72 hours. Pregnancy with the OB is 9 months. If it's the hospital you are worried about, just keep that in mind. I love my OB and she delivers at the older hospital in the area and there is a brand new hospital down the road. She's worth the old hospital stay!
  • This is my first pregnancy, and I'm still so worried about the first appointment. (I made the mistake of reading the statistics on miscarriages in first trimester, and don't anyone do that.) It's so tiny and fragile right now and there's no way of knowing whether it's okay. It's so scary to me, and I haven't been through what you've been through.

Strangely, I'm also looking forward to it a bit, because if everything is okay, I'll get to know that everything is okay for now, at least.

    This is all really scary!
