@marowan THAT IS A GREAT BIRTHDAY! I've seen all but the current season but I wanted to refresh myself on the whole Clara/Impossible Girl backstory so I went back to the beginning of Season 6. We recently (like a year ago) rewatched seasons 1-4, so really my Pond years could use a refreshers. The Ponds at the beginning of 6 made me really nostalgic for them.
However, it was so nice that they made their parade about the Seahawks last year. Including the D-Bag players, who spent the whole time chugging beers and putting down another team (it's not like they won by a lot!), instead of just enjoying their win and celebrating their own team. Klassy.
I have been watching football all.dang.day. Except for my two quit breaks to take DD out in the snow (which we woke up to this morning). My DD just made a bet with her dad on the Vik/Pack game. Future gambler.
Also, we get 1-2 snow days a year (if we are lucky). My FB feed is full of people complaining about it. Get over it people....it will probably be gone by tomorrow! Don't like it? Keep yourself inside the house, and close all of the blinds so you don't have to look at it....
@elenabrent It was my favorite birthday ever. They made sonic screwdriver cocktails, adipose baby marshmallow treats, "fish fingers and custard" (cookies in vanilla pudding), and TARDIS blue velvet cupcakes. BBC America had an 11th Doctor marathon over Christmas, my husband and I spent days catching up with the Ponds. I forgot how much I missed them and River!
I'm posting without reading because I've been working all weekend (and can't Bump at work - complaint #1), and holy cow 6 pages... I'll go back and skim after in case I missed something important
My main complaint is that I've got some kind of pinched nerve in my left lower back/hip. I can't remember if this happened last time and I don't know if it's pregnancy related, but it is so freaking painful and annoying. If I sit/lie in the same position for too long it gets worse and worse, so at night I wake up in full on pain spasms every couple of hours. I'M SO TIRED AND SORE AND ON EDGE.
Has anyone done prenatal yoga? I'm thinking of using some Christmas gift money to sign up for some classes. I have a back injury from falling down the stairs with DD when she was 3 months old (she was fine, but I got a stable compression fracture of one of my vertebrae). It still bothers me if I have a day of lots of housework or a busy day at work, and I'm really concerned about how it'll affect me as I get further into my pregnancy. I also had high blood pressure at the end of last pregnancy (stress related) so I thought it might help with stress management as well.
@DobbysSock I did prenatal yoga with my first pregnancy and I start it again this coming Saturday. It helped me so much, especially towards the end of the pregnancy with back and hip discomfort. I loved it so much and I felt so calm and relaxed when it was over. Obviously, I totally recommend it!
Here's my random...a little late, but it just now started to bother me. I'm really really fed up with the stupidity of the staff at my drs office! I love my doctor, and don't feel comfortable just spreading my legs for anyone. Plus she delivered my dd and I totally trust her.
But the office staff is just incompetent it seems. They had to reschedule my early December appt. bc of an emergency c section-totally get it. But I had to push to make them squeeze me in the following week bc I was already 10 weeks and I knew I had to get in soon so she could prescribe the blood work and us for the chromosome testing. I was super sick (stomach flu) the day of, but I still went in and had blood drawn. But bc they waited so long, the us place literally only had 1 appt. available in the small window they left me and I couldn't make it.
Then the drs office called and said somebody messed up with my blood work and it never even got tested!
So, now we'll have to wait till 20 weeks. DH tried to calm me by reminding me that whatever the results, it wouldn't change anything about the pregnancy, but still would be nice to have extra time to prepare if there was something wrong...I HATE INCOMPETENCE!
@Lindsayleigh1989 Thanks - I did put heat on it last night but didn't do the cold. I know both are important but... the heat feels so much better I'll try heat and cold today. Damn thing is still pinching but at least I have the day off to deal with it.
@silvers626 that's exactly what I'm hoping to get. I have done yoga before but it's so expensive that I've never stuck with it for long enough to get out of the beginner stage (I don't want to do it alone at home because I feel like I still need the guidance of an in-person instructor to help me get the positioning right - especially while pregnant). I think I'm gonna do it. The only problem is the classes at in the evening which isn't ideal for me, but maybe I'll shop around for other classes
@DobbysSock I've been doing prenatal yoga at my usual studio since I found out I was pregnant. The instructor is lovely and adapted the poses for where I was in my pregnancy, and it was really good for me mentally and physically. Even when I had to leave the class to puke, it felt good to be doing SOMETHING. Now that I'm in my second trimester I'm excited to challenge myself a little more physically in the classes.
@elenabrent ok I'm sorry I'm calling you out, but I've seen a couple people post about prenatel yoga and yours is the first I found. Does it really help? Is it the kind of thing I'll look dumb going to because I am the least "athletic" person you've met? Lol I'm interested in trying
@afrazer521 As far as yoga goes, it is definitely on the gentle, more deep-stretch end of things (at least the classes I've been taking), and that has been awesome for me. I've been so dizzy that I don't need to do cardio, but getting into my hips and working on the parts of my body that are achey is wonderful. My teacher also asks at the beginning of each class how far along everyone is and what they would like to focus on, so she can adapt the poses for where you are in your pregnancy (mostly 1st tri concerns about twists/crunches), and work through whatever it is that people are asking for. I've found I really look forward to the class every week and I feel great afterwards. And while I regularly practiced yoga before getting pregnant a lot of the women in my prenatal class didn't, so I definitely feel like it's accessible for anyone.
I don't regularly go to yoga (when I'm not pregnant I prefer higher intensity exercise) so the first time I went I had never been to yoga and I didn't feel uncomfortable at all.
I love yoga! Haven't found a studio since we moved here though, so I just got a prenatal yoga dvd. I know it won't be the same, but it's something until I find a yoga home (which I probably won't be motivated to do while I'm pregnant).
@elenabrent@silvers626 thanks ladies. I had a prenatel yoga DVD when I was pregnant with ds, but I rarely did it. I feel like an actual class will be more beneficial
