I'm starting to have issues myself (I've been coughing the last couple of days pretty much non-stop, which is how my asthma tends to present itself, although it's just a minor cough for now, not the full on barking/whooping cough that I get when things get bad) and I'm worried it's going to get worse the further along I get in my pregnancy.
I got a bad case of bronchitis back in October and had a lingering, bronchial cough well into middle of December, then it went away until a couple of days ago (probably because my dad caught something and coughed on me, starting the whole cycle all over again). I've been too afraid to use my inhaler, so I've been waiting it out, hoping that it'll settle back down again. Obviously, I won't let it get too severe before treating it (not going to risk depriving baby of oxygen), but I'm hoping it won't get bad enough to require anything other than avoiding breathing cold air and resting.
How are you feeling? Most of the time I feel good but slight cramping here and there. Feeling really emotional though and have cried while watching TV a couple of times today lol
Doing anything baby related today? Nothing yet.
Rants/Raves/Randoms: My son has been very attached to me lately. Most of the time he's all about daddy but the past few days he's wanted mommy for just about everything. I have been loving the extra mommy cuddles though, that's for sure.
Questions? None that I can think of at the moment.
GTKY: How long have you been on The Bump and how did you find it? I first joined TB in Fall '12 when I was pregnant with DS . I had googled some random question early on and TB was one of the search results. After I had DS, I didn't go online much anymore so this time it counted me as a new user.
@Smallinetta what was said things got weird but what caused me to have my previous profile deleted was that TB can use pictures you post. So I'll be careful what I post this time. I have great friends from a14 and value the friendships that I made so much I hope to do that again during this pregnancy
@Smallinetta they gave me a new advair inhaler (instead of the diskus I hate that thing) and they refilled my singulaire and Allegra. At the hospital they gave me a nebulizer treatment and told me if my asthma exacerbates like this again they will get me an in home nebulizer (I can't find my old one). I also left with two days of a steroid that I can't quite remember the name of right now that isn't prednisone (the one I'm used to taking) it's decazone or something like that.
@MojieJo I am feeling better and slept well last night, thank you! I'm hoping it's my last episode. Also, I hope you don't end up struggling with asthma, too, but if you do I'm here to empathize with.
Prednisone is like the miracle/devil drug. I have taken it so many times for my asthma (I've never breathed better!) and for my ITP (blood/platelet disorder. When I'm on it for more than a few days I turn into a MOON FACED MONSTER!) glad you're feeling better. Try to take it easy today.
Thanks! I love prednisone because it always makes me lose weight. But that's why they wouldn't put me on it. The first 10 days I'm on it I just don't eat. It's like an appetite suppressant. Which isn't really healthy anyway but especially not with a baby. Though I've heard once you're on prednisone a while it makes you gain weight.
At any rate I'm feeling better and plan to do some deep stretching exercises because they help with deep breathing. Thank you for asking/keeping up with me!
What a great thread! This would be a great place for my team of new mommas to post and stay extra accountable. If anyone's interested in my complimentary New Fit & Healthy Momma's Jump Start Guide, just let me know. Hope you're having a wonderful 2016.
