May 2016 Moms

Half Baked!!

Congrats ladies!
(Almost) all of us are half way to the prize!  The next 4-5 months will bring so many changes for all of us, and I'd just like to take a minute to celebrate one of those tiny milestones.  (I also celebrate  "Viability Day" at 24 weeks.  I guess I just like to celebrate the small stuff!)

Question:  Is this how you thought you would feel at this point?  What did you think would be different?

  • @ ncm0328 Ben & Jerrys! Me too!

    Mmmmmmmmm :)

  • Yay for over half way there!! And thanks for the reminder about viability, @JennyS86; I've been trying to remember when that was! My belly is definitely bigger than it was with my last pregnancy at 22 weeks, and I don't feel great still, but now that I'm in the mid twenties week-wise, I am getting excited for the finish line! Come ooooon, May.

Is anyone else feeling like fatigue is coming back? Since Thursday I just wanna sleep! And the whole shortness of breath/ heart racing thing can go away too!

Yes! Just in the past 5 days I've had a return of nausea, fatigue, and a lot of shortness of breath/heart pounding or racing as well. Hopefully it's just a bump in the road!?
  • I gained over 60lbs with my first so by this point I'm pretty sure I was +20 at least. As of my last appt I was only up 5lbs and may be a little over that now with all the holiday treats but nothing compared to last time.

  • Totally thought this was going to be about ice cream, like some of the others! I'm feeling good, had a very easy first trimester other than extreme fatigue, but that's gone away, making for an even easier second trimester! No movement yet, and am definitely showing, but am still able to sort of hide it with baggy clothes.
20 week appointment/ultrasound next week. I always get a bit scared before an appointment, like I'm going t hear horrible news. Especially since I don't really 'feel' pregnant (due to not feeling baby yet). But we are so excited to learn the sex and see baby again on ultrasound!
  • yogahh My fatigue is pretty consistent! But I'm making a baby so I'm happy to go to sleep early.

The first 20 weeks flew by and now I 'm a little nervous to get everything I want done in the next 20! I don't feel terrible, but don't feel great. It's hard to sleep and I have some back pain since I started showing and gaining weight. I'm very excited to meet our little guy but stressed about unpaid maternity leave and our finances come May.

I haven't had any solid cravings yet, wondering when those will kick in.

I am a FTM, and I am really excited about my pregnancy. I am extremely anxious to meet our little man. I did not have any morning sickness in my first trimester, but the second trimester has certainly brought on sleepless nights and a constant sweet taste in my mouth that is making it difficult to eat. Has anyone experienced this?
I am actually the opposite. I always wanted sweets prior to being pregnant, but I only want salty foods during this pregnancy.

Yep! You described exactly how I am feeling!

You might mention that to your doctor. I'm pretty sure those are all symptoms of anemia.

Also, @ncm0328 can I ask what illness you had? I'm only asking because I have a friend that had really severe crohn's and all of her symptoms completely disappeared while she was pregnant! She said pregnancy was the best she's ever felt.
  • I have about a week and a half before I'm officially halfway but I am a lot more excited than normal. I can actually feel the little one moving around. Things are becoming more real. I also feel pregnant as opposed to just FAT. Which is a plus :) Also we are hoping to learn the gender next week. **Fingers crossed!**

I've been feeling overall better... but @yogahh I definitely still get fatigue (not every day) and I have been feeling shortness of breath as well. I try to breath through my nose but it hurts so much because it's super cold outside and my nose is way more sensitive.

You guys due in the first half of May always make me jealous... I'm due May 27, and still have 1.5 weeks to go until I'm at 20, so I think it's just about half of you that are halfway done. But, congratulations! I've already been feeling way better for several weeks now, and am having fun watching my belly grow and feeling pokes from the inside.
But you're due on my birthday and that's pretty cool.

  • @ Pascal86  I am actually due May 28th!  I consider myself halfway there because my goal is 37 weeks after a preterm delivery last pregnancy!  I will keep this in mind when/if I post to celebrate viability day!

  • Yay for being half way through!! This pregnancy has gone a lot smoother than my first pregnancy. I have a lot more energy and I don't feel as achy. The shortness of breath is killing me though! I feel like an old lady when I have to go up and down the steps, huffing and puffing, it's awful!

@countrygrl5533 Nice! One of my late good friends had that birthday, and although he passed, he was one of the best people ever, so I feel like it's a pretty good day!

My family is the opposite. My sister, myself, and my daughter have all been early. I'm basically expected to have a baby around April 27th or so. I'm going to be disappointed if I go over.

I already share my birthday with my niece and two friends. My sister is the 25th, my mom the 30th. I really, really don't want to go that late all for purely selfish reasons. I'm a "big deal about birthdays" person and do not want to share mine with my child.

  • I don't think I expected to be showing quote this much as this point. It seems like I got huge all of a sudden. I also expected to be feeling more movement by now. Thanks, anterior placenta!

Dr tested for anemia before but I'll be sure to mention it to her next week at my monthly appointment.

  • I'm going to have a c section by 4/30. I'd like to choose 4/28 if it works with my dr's schedule and baby is good, etc. So that's 4 months from yesterday. Eek! I'm feeling pretty good aside from a cold right now. No pregnancy symptoms other than hip pain when I sleep. I was hoping I wouldn't be this big yet. But considering I'm more than half way done, it's ok.
