I just need to say that I went to the grocery store today and it was glorious! All the fresh vegetables! Meats! Cheeses! I feel like a new person now that I don't want to vomit anytime I smell anything other than bread. My husband has done all the shopping and most of the cooking so it was exciting to take a little bit of control back.
@likeabel Your elk shepherd's pie sounds amazing. So hard to find game meats this time of year here but we eat elk in the summer.
@nicknshan Your menu looks amazing. Do you have recipes to share?
Monday: maple chipotle salmon and cabbage, apple, carrot coleslaw (w/ vinaigrette dressing) Tuesday: glazed chicken and maybe spanish style rice. or maybe braised cabbage & onion. Weds: butternut squash soup and salad. maybe some garlic bread. Thurs: seafood pasta w/ anise cream sauce Fri: beef/pork tortiere (one of my husband's specialities! can't wait) and green salad Sat: chicken chili w/ corn, chickpeas and edamame beans. we don't usually serve a side with it but i'm trying to eat more lettuce so maybe if i type this, i will actually eat it. Sun: way too far ahead to plan but probably leftovers.
M: Spinach and Artichoke Alfredo Pasta T: Potato and Corn Crockpot Chowder Soup W: Salad with Tangerine Honey Dressing (craisins, apple, garbonzo beans, red onion) T: Out to celebrate the new year! F: Honey Ham and Baked Potatoes. We normally do pork roast and saurkraut to ring in the new year (old family/german tradition) but I don't think I can handle that this year. Just getting over a major meat aversion, so going simple instead.
@catherinekate the elk is from my freezer. I don't even know where I'd get game meat if I didn't just acquire the whole animal via DH hunting it. I'm sure there's a butcher somewhere near by but that seems like too much work!
