Showing?

I know it's way too early to be showing. This is my first so I don't expect to really show until about 20 weeks but this "bloat" really looks like a baby bump. I'm already unbuttoning pants! Anyone else like this? I'm not quite ready to buy anything maternity and the Bella Band seems a bit too soon as well. Though, maybe I should just do it since my jeans are all way too tight now.

Re: Showing?

  • I feel the same way! This is my 4th pregnancy and I don't ever remember having to unbutton my pants so early lol. Maybe because it is the holidays so we ate more? I don't know but I will start using my Bella Band very soon.

  • I was just thinking the other day how uncomfortable I am, my clothes are getting tighter and restricting. I am majorly bloated. I know it's way too soon for maternity clothes, but man. I want to be comfortable. Any advice on what to buy for business casual at work at this stage in pregnancy would help! (6w2d)

  • I'm 8w4d and the bloat looks like a bump.  My mom actually made the comment that I was showing on Christmas eve.  I am still calling it bloat though.  I have officially moved into elastic though.  no more buttons or snaps for me!

  • Go for a Bella band. Or use the hair tie/rubber band around the button trick. Bloat calms down usually, but if it doesn't no sense in being uncomfortable.
  • With my first I started wearing maternity pants at about 9 weeks because it was just so comfortable and I was going to need them anyway.  I don't think I started obviously showing until 18-20 weeks, but no one says you have to wait until then.  I fully intend to start wearing maternity pants as soon as my bloat becomes unbearable.  I say go for it!

  • Bloat blump bump whatever it is, it has made me love my yoga pants and maternity jeans from prev baby lol and thank goodness I'm off work for 2 weeks otherwise I'd just be living in my scrubs lol
  • Same here. Bloat has made the bump visible enough that I look much farther along than I am. I'm typically very fit, so I had to purchase a band early. Nothing fits!

I have bought a few things for maternity clothes... I am buying things that will work for spring/ summer and if I need them before then, I'll have them. So far my "fat pants" and looser dresses are doing the trick. I also found wearing lower rise pants seems to work.

I'll be honest, I'm looking forward to needing to transition to maternity wear and LOOKING pregnant. Right now I look like I ate too many cookies.

My mom even commented this weekend how a have a mini bump already.... so maybe it's TWINS! (Gah, I hope not!)

  • I'm 8 weeks and I bought maternity pants for work over the weekend. I wouldn't say I'm showing yet but all of my work pants are so tight and uncomfortable. Outside of work I can just wear leggings but to work it has to be dress pants. I got them large enough that I think they should work through most of my pregnancy. FX

  • @readyforaB - I'm in the same boat. I've been buying dresses mostly, since they seem to flex a little more. And I can buy a short sleeved dress now, and throw a blazer over it, and in August it will be perfect!

  • Ugh, I just went to the bathroom and rolled down the waistband of my pants. I know it's not baby yet but this bloat is no joke. When I was pregnant with DS I ended up buying a couple pairs of nice jeans in a bigger size at this stage. I couldn't mentally justify maternity pants yet (though I'm tempted to break them out now), and I justified the purchase by reasoning that I'd need bigger pants postpartum anyway. Thinking of doing that again.

  • I'm trying to enjoy wearing my real clothes a few last times before I have to go to maternity stuff.  Dont get me wrong its comfortable, but after wearing the same 3-4 pairs of pants for 30+ weeks I know I'll be sick of it!

  • Allisun85, so everything worked out? Your baby is OK? I've been worried for you.

@lacinjonveach Seems to be fine after the accident! No spotting/ bleeding, and the pain went away after a couple of days. I called my doctor, and what she thinks happened was the muscles and ligaments that are moving around were what was hurting, I might have pulled something.

I bought one of those "bump belt" things, on her recommendation, to be safe going forward.

  • I've been My go to wunder unders (OBSESSED w lululemon right now) which are tight compression pants that go up to my belly button. It's pretty obvious that i have a bloat bump when I wear them with a tight shirt. I'm trying to remind myself I'm pregnant and I'm really just hoping it's not fat lol. Like @lblu43 I am usually very fit and it has already been a struggle!
  • Ugh I feel 4 months already instead of 2! I just realized tonight I have a serious bump that wasn't there two weeks ago. I've actually gained two pounds in the last week.. I'm sad, it's too early for this! It's my third so I expected to show a little by 3 months, but this is ridiculous
  • @saam0815 I live in lulu too!

I have a 7 month old and during the summer I lived in my bikini or sun dresses and now I am always in lulus. We haven't told anyone yet (7w 1d) and I typically wear tighter tops but lately I've been wearing chunky sweaters etc to hide this ridiculous blump! Christmas was especially hard because my belly was HUGE after dinner!!
  • I agree that after my DD (3 yrs old) I lost a bunch of weight so kept my larger pants and put them in my maternity tote. I actually had no idea I kept so many...like 10 pairs of dress pants!!  I also can't justify maternity yet...didn't wear them till 18 weeks with my DD. I also had a loss so wanting to wait till I feel more comfortable to get them out.  I do not remember this bloating with my first pregnancy though.
  • Ugh, @amandazap I hate that, my mom like touched my belly on Christmas after I told her and it totally weirds me out people doing that when you don't even have a bump.

I know! Even when I was 9 months pregnant with ds I hated people touching me.

  • During my appt I was told my uterus is pushed forward. They commented that could attribute w the bloat to adding what looks like 2+ months to my bump. I don't recall this with my 1st (Granted it was 6yrs ago). Anyone else heard of this?
  • Everyone in the family said they knew i was prego (im 7.5 weeks)  seriously bloat is killing me.  But what stinks is im only 5 ft 2 so i show super early, i have no waist im too shortwaisted, so it just pushes straight out.  Once bloat calms down im already showing.. ugh!  I look like im ready to pop by 6 months.. and i always carry way extra amts of amniotic fluid which doesnt help the situation

  • @amandazap and @crob5685 I refuse to let anyone other than my husband, mom, and mil touch my bump.  And even that was a stretch for me.  This time.  No one but my husband.

  • There is no reason to be uncomfortable. If get maternity clothes makes you feel better, rock them. No judging here. I think I was six or seven weeks last time. I definitely did not have a baby related bump, but my ass was comfortable in those maternity pants.
UO...I think the belly bands suck.
  • Everything is too small. My belly is rounded and I got rid of all my maternity clothes 2 months after my daughter was born this year. All that shoppingI have to do all over again :( I felt like I was showing at 8 weeks last time and started wearing maternity clothes. Same this time.
  • This is my third pregnancy, and I am showing. Maternity clothes rock! So comfortable, the first pregnancy it took me until about 18 weeks and then I finally gave in. For some reason I fought the maternity clothes, second time around I wanted them right away and this time I am waiting a little longer but so ready to have my stretchy full panel jeans!!!
  • My husband came home today and told me I'm showing. I'm only 9 weeks and I'm already over weight so I think he's crazy.
  • I know im not showing but there is no more sucking in lol. I feel like between that and the bloat I look 6 months already
  • I'm not allowing myself to buy clothes that won't work while I'm pregnant. They have some super cute flowy tops and I wear a ton of maxi skirts.
  • This is my first and I had previously lost a bunch of weight and my pants were loose, but now they are tight around the waist. I'm only slightly over 7 weeks, but this bloat is ridiculous! It's like constant pms bloat! I haven't gained any weight, so I know it's all bloat!

  • I'm only 6 weeks 4 days along and the bloat already makes me look like I'm showing. It's my first, so I have no idea how this is going to progress.

I had to start unbuttoning pants and using a band at 8 weeks with my first. It was so uncomfortable for weeks until I finally caved I started wearing maternity pants. This time, once the pants don't button... I'm making the switch!
  • 2nd baby. I look like I did when I was 13 weeks pregnant with my first. I use a pony tail on my jeans. May use my Bella band soon. So much pressure in my pelvis.
  • I'm about to break out my maternity pants already. My lower abdomen is rock hard already so unlike last time I can't squish it back in my pants. Sitting at my desk all day sucks when the top of my pants dig in so far.

  • Last week I ordered one of those button on stretch panels for regular pants because I'm not ready to announce yet. And I know if I show up to the states in maternity clothes, people are going to start asking questions.

You do you. If you're uncomfortable in regular pants, maternity pants ftw. If you're not ready to wear maternity pants, maxi skirts are great, and so are Bella Bands (I think that's what they're called), and those button in panels.

Unbottoning my pants is my favorite part of the day.

I broke out the maternity jeans and Bellaband this weekend at not even 8 weeks. No reason to be uncomfortable just for the sake of how early it might be. If you wear them right, no one needs to know but you, and maternity clothes are super comfortable! Why does everyone wait so long? :)

  • I'm 10w1d and everything is tight. I think I'll get a bellaband or I think these look like a good idea for the a little while: https://www.betabrand.com/collections/dress-pant-yoga-pants-collection.html?utm_source=Pinterest&utm_medium=BusCasual&utm_campaign=DPYP&utm_term=annpi2&pp=1
  • Is it absurd that I think the I'm actually showing? I have such a bump already! This is my first and I'm only 10 weeks but I have a legit baby bump that is hard to hide. Possible I'm just an early show? Hard to believe it's all bloat. Haha.
