Re: November/December IVF

  • @kristylang I am so sorry. Scream and let it out. I'm thinking of you.

Just got the call (the office was closed for a while last week) that none of our embryos made it to freeze. So not the news we expected. Could this mean my egg quality is poor? Jeez. Trying to not let this put even more pressure on this cycle. Easier said than done.
  • Loading the player...
  • @Smallinetta Sorry about your embryos :( I don't know that the quality influces the freezing process, sometimes they just don't survive. It is sad tho.
Hopefully this cycle is the one!!!! Fingers crossed for you!

  • @Smallinetta   None of our embryos made it to freeze either.  One was of good quality and the other was decent as well.  I had 13 eggs retrieved and transferred two really good quality ones, but we were hoping to have a few frozen to use down the road.
  • @ShanTeach I know exactly what you mean. Your numbers sound very similar to mine except we only transferred one. Now thinking we should have done two as I'm not "feeling" pregnant (my mother thinks I'm nuts).

This sounds silly, but I will be able to have another ER and fresh transfer correct?

  • Oh @Smallinetta - I'm sorry.  That's sucky news!!  I hope this is your cycle and it won't matter!!

@kristylang - I'm sorry your beta was a BFN.  Take care of yourself!!  Hugs!

    Welcome @skcasey526!

@Alyeena - I'm glad the holidays didn't go too horribly.  When is your official beta again?

Harmony: negative; level 2: babies look great and are boy/girl! :)
  • @Alyeena we will only be transferring one, per our insurance, my age and my history. I'm anxious to know their grading and progress. I used to work in an IVF lab so am familiar with a lot of the terms, etc.

Hope everyone gets their BFP soon!
  • I haven't used a HPT yet this cycle, but I was wondering can pogesterone suppositories give a false positive? I think my HCG shot would be out of my system by now (7dp5dt)...it was never a problem during all my iui cycles since I always ended up with negatives by day 7...in fact I never got a positive ever.

Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

I'm so sorry @kristylang for the bfn. What are your next steps?

I don't think progesterone can give false positives as it doesn't contain hcg, @Smallinetta.

My appt went well yesterday. Off BCPs as of yesterday. I start the estradiol oral pill 2x a day starting Wednesday. I go back on 1/5 to check the lining and to possibly increase estradiol to 3x a day. Will do PIO shots at some point and the transfer is set for 1/15 at this point.

Edited to add: my re also said my ovaries were still swollen after the retrieval(11/29) so I still needed to be careful with lifting heavy things, exercise, and strenuous activities. Thought it was crazy they were still so swollen!

@Smallinetta progesterone suppositories can not give a false positive. The test only detects HCG. The trigger shot stays in your system about 10 days.
As for your other question, of course you can have another ER and fresh transfer. Hopefully you won't need it this time.

@emsmama15 I have to go to a blood lab on the 30th since our clinic is not open, but I think we will stay one more day at my mother's house so we would go get the beta done on the 31st.

@Piperella I wish you all the luck for your transfer! I really hope everything goes well :)

  • Thanks @Alyeena and @Piperella. I think all this stress/waiting has consumed some of my brain cells.

Still haven't decided if I'm going to test before 12/31.

@Piperella I'm so glad you have a plan and you're all set for this cycle. I'm sorry your still uncomfortable from your ER.

@emsmama15 Yes they close completly from December 15th to January 4th. I was really surprised and a little angry too.
My transfer was on the 15th too... A day later and I would have to wait until January it is ridiculous.

@Smallinetta the 31st is coming soon! Not much longer to wait! I really hope you get your BFP :)

  • Congratulations @daisygrl007 !!!!!
  • @daisygrl007 CONGRATS!!!!!
@piperella. Our next step is donor egg. My DH is having a hard time with this but if it's the only way we can have kids he said he would get over it. I think it's hard because he knows that child won't have my dna, but it will be our child because I will be carrying him or her.  We aren't doing anything any time soon, because although our insurance covers 4 IVF cycles they don't cover donor costs which is anywhere from $5,000-$10,000, so we will need to save some money.  Thanks for asking. :). Hope your cycles goes well.
    Kristy
  • @kristylang I know all about having to save for procedures etc. so my heart goes out to you. I'm happy to hear that your husband is coming around to the idea of donor eggs.
  • @daisygrl007 Congratulations!! So happy for you :)

@kristylang I had no idea donor eggs were that expensive, that's insane! What makes them fluctuate so much do you know? Like why some are 5K and some 10K?
Also glad to hear your husband is coming around, it must be a difficult thing.

@kristylang I am so sorry for your news I was so hoping that you would get your BFP heartbroken for you :(

My husband and I are meeting with our RE next Wednesday to talk about donor eggs. It has been an up and down battle for me with my emotions, but both DH and I feel like this is our next step. I am hoping to soon talk with a coworker's sister who used donor eggs as I really struggle with concerns about the effects on my child when they are older and if they will struggle with not knowing his/her "genetic" heritage . If you have any questions I can ask her and help get you some answers (if you don't know anyone who has conceived with donor eggs!) let me know :)

@Alyeena donor eggs can vary depending on if you do frozen eggs (already collected and generally "shared" amount multiple recipients- generally in total ~$17000) versus fresh donor eggs where a selected donor and recipient get their cycles timed and all eggs from collection are used for same recipient (can be as high as $40,000 depending on travel and if any insurance coverage)

Congrats @daisygrl007! Wishing you a happy and healthy pregnancy!

Having horrible AF like cramps tonight. Going to test tomorrow a) because I can't take it anymore and b) I want to be prepared for our beta on Thursday.
  • Good morning! So I POAS in the middle of the night (around 3am) and it was a positive!!! The line was light, but I woke up my husband and he agreed it was def there. Just for good measure I POAS again just now and it was also a positive. It's still not as dark as I would like...then again I've NEVER EVER seen a positive before so maybe I'm expecting something that doesn't exist? I really really hope that the doctor confirms the good news tomorrow. FX.

@2legbaby it's great that you have someone to talk to about DE and the process. Having someone that has one through the process always makes it seem "easier".
  • @Smallinetta Congrats that's exciting!!! I had bad cramps for a while but I still got my BFP! fx fx!!!
  • Congrats @Smallinetta !!! I can imagine it was hard to go back to sleep after seeing that little pink line :)

  • @Alyeena the expensive donors are the previous donors that produced a lot of eggs, or they're very attractive or IVY leagues and the first time donors are of course the least expensive.  who knew right? I had no idea until we started shopping for donors.
TTC for Baby #1 for 3 years. After 2 failed IUI's & IVFs, God blessed us with our miracle :).  FET 12/17/15 (transferred 2 embryos at 5days). First Beta 12/29/15 = 354. Second Beta 12/31/15 = 694. Third Beta 1/7/16 = 6,695.  Finally heard his heartbeat (126)  on 1/14/16 @ our 1st US.  2nd US on 1/21/16, HR was 159.  The most beautiful sound ever :)

  • I had read up on donating embryos...but everywhere I read says that the donating couple receives no money..it's all for the companies and lawyers... we hope to donate some of our embryos to others, but we need to see how far we get on our own transfers.
  • Just got back from the doctor -- they said they will call with the results by noon, but they are always late with everything! This past hour seems longer than the TWW. How is that possible?!

@Smallinetta Yay!!!! Congratulations :) this is such good news!!!
I understand what you mean about waiting for beta results, every minute seems like an eternity lol.

I went for my first beta today but since my clinic is closed I had to go to a blood lab and will not get results before saturday or maybe monday. It's crazy.

And omg about the eggs, how can eggs sell for that much... And more if you are IVY league LOL. I mean, as if the schools you go to are really showing how intelligent you are. Especially IVY league, my huband went to MIT and he says tons of people go there cause they are legacies and they have parents who donate tons of money -_-

And how is it fair the compagnies get all the money, make money off poor women and off the back of generous women donating their eggs? Wow...

  • @Smallinetta YAY  So happy for you!!!

You should come to the September 2016 boards! I am there already and quite a few other mom's to be, so far everyone seems nice. There is also a first trimester board but I have not really been hanging out there.
September board is better for me since everyone is as early as me. It scares me less.

What do you mean by finding other boards? Are you using the website or the mobile app?

@Alyeena I'll join the September group. Have you checked one of the calculators online to see the estimated DD of your baby? Ours is September 8th. Exciting! My birthday is September 4th.

I usually use the website on my phone. Not the app. I found this board by searching IVF forums. I'll check it out and try to navigate my way to other boards. Any advice is always appreciated. ;)

    Have a safe new year!
  • Congratulations @Smallinetta !!  What a great way to end 2015 and begin a new year!
  • @Smallinetta, I did use a calculator and it says September 1st. You could maybe get a baby with the same birthday as you :D
For me I guess it could just as well be an August baby or a September one lol.

If you can download the app it is quite practical, but even at the top of the mobile website there should be a link called "community" all the boards are listed there.
