IUGR

At my 21 week ultrasound, they detected slow growth, sent me to the mfm the next day. My baby girl is measuring 3-4 weeks behind in different areas, we have another ultrasound on Monday with the mfm at 23 weeks to check growth. I'm trying to stay patient but I am so worried! If any of you have any experience with this or know someone who does please share your story- good or bad. I just need to know what to expect to prepare myself. Thanks!

I'm going through this now. I also have PIH so I feel your stress. For me they started investigating the reason on why LO is growing slower than she should and found that I have low placental blood flow. She is isn't quite getting the right amount of nutrients to grow. I have to go to both MFM and OB weekly to be monitored. They check blood flow do an BPP and an NST. I also have to do twice daily kick counts. It is basically a balancing game. How long can they safely keep her in there. The big problem is if low blood flow turns in to no blood flow because that also means no oxygen. Did they know what was causing yours? Sometimes it really can be as simple as your baby is just going to be a small baby. Unfortunately it is a lot of unknown and not a lot of straight forward answers. I could end up delivering tomorrow at 30 weeks or I could make it to full term at 37. I know that isn't a lot of help but if you have any questions I would love to do the best I can! I also want to recommend the Facebook IUGR support group they are amazing.

Im going through this now too. At 20 weeks, little missy was measuring a week behind. So I had to go back for rescan to check growth and placental flow on Wednesday when I was 24w/4d, and shes now showing 2 weeks behind with a small drop again in blood flow. The MFM doctor said I could enjoy the holiday with family, but had to check in the hospital for bed rest and monitor BP (have previous history of PIH, severe Pre-E, IUGR and HELLPS that resulted in delivery at 32 weeks). So bedrest it is.. ultrasound to be done Monday to determine further a plan. As stressing as it is (believe me Ive burst out in tears a few times since Wed cause im so worried) the best thing to do is try to stay calm so baby doesnt stress. I hope everything stays in your favor and baby stay in as long as possible! Since finding out, its all been labs, rest and a waiting game for me.

I'm in a similar boat. My baby isn't officially IUGR but he is 1 percentile off and they are concerned because he did a major drop in percentiles and the placenta readings were elevated. I was told to rest and drink a gallon of water a day, they also did a ton of blood work and I have to do weekly NSTs and follow up with another growth scan in a few weeks. I'm finding a lot of comfort in his regular movements but it is very nerve wracking and the holidays slow down the results of blood work plus add to my chaos making it harder to rest. Though I really am doing my best. Hopefully we'll all have answers soon- for now try to stay positive it could be nothing- just little munchkins

I already saw a MFM and my baby was always measuring ahead, so when her body started measuring smaller and a couple of other things that can lead to IUGR were present like high BP and high placental resistance I got worried.. I ended up going into labor at 37 w. 6 d. and baby was totally fine. Her head didn't look big either, they had been telling me that her body fell 30% behind her head in growth. I did have swelling before, and even after in my left leg, delivery but baby was fine. Try to relax. Take your blood pressure seriously, but I wouldn't say that ultrasound are even 75% accurate. They take measurements, but they use those measurements to guess weight and stuff like that. They were also telling me that my baby was over 7 lbs. long before I went into labor and when I had her At practically 38 w. she was 6 lbs. 4 oz.

P.S. I forgot to add that they put me on bed rest, too! Well, couch potato rest with minimal walking since your legs pull a lot of your blood away from your uterus/the baby.

Hi we went through this with my last pregnancy. At 20 weeks my baby measured small and I had steroid injections and 2scans per week. At 34&4 weeks I was induced and 2 days later had a 4lb7oz little girl. She didn't need much help and had 15days in hospital. She's now a happy healthy 9month old.

My question is how many mums went throug this and had a 'normal' second pregnancy

I'm in the hospital right now for no distolic flow then it turned to reversed blood flow doctors gave me magnesium and steroids to help the baby I am being monitored 3 times a day I'm 27/4 days there pushing for 32 weeks for delivery I am scared and praying I make it at least 30 weeks

I had pih which turned into pre-e and my little man definitely had iugr though mfm never officially diagnosed him with it. He was born at 34 weeks at only 2 lbs and 13 ozs. The nurses in the NICU said he was the size of a 30/31 weeker (which is really when my ordeal really started, I was admitted and stayed until he was born at 34 wks), but he was as developed as a 34 weeker. And now he's a perfectly healthy 4.5 month old... Just a bit tiny at only 9lbs... He has hit all of his developmental milestones for his actual age! So worry not... Here's a picture of his adorableness to reassure you...

I’m wondering if anyone can help . I’m 24.2 week . Iv had scans every few wk from start as I had early losses . Everything is fine but small baby . I had scan Tuesday where I was 23.6 but the specialist said sending me to lpool ladies for this amino . I burst into tears as I suffer severe anxiety. Why would this be needed if just small? My 12 wk screening was low risk plus before this pregnancy me and my partner had all fertility checks done including chromosome one at £450! I’m beyond worried
