I'm 11 weeks today, but I couldn't pass up the opportunity for a Christmas announcement! We've already told parents and best friends, but this morning we shared the news with everyone else. So excited to finally be able to BE EXCITED!
We did a Facebook post on Christmas Eve that said "Guys, we've been naughty... But it's turning out pretty nice. Baby Simi to arrive early July 2016. Merry Christmas to everyone."
My husband told my MIL/FIL over Thanksgiving dinner, and then promptly informed them that they were the only ones that knew, and that we didn't want anyone else knowing until we were ready. HAHA! There was nothing really special about the moment, and nothing creative. But they are amazing at keeping quiet, and if something were to happen, they would have to take DD and our fur babies.
I don't think we will do a big announcement with this one, we will probably just tell people in person, as we see them. If we do decide to do something, I was thinking of waiting until I had a obvious baby bump, and having a picture taken of me from the bump down, with DD standing next to my belly.....wearing a "big sister" shirt. I would post it to my IG account (but not to my FB account).
We posted this one yesterday after telling all family in person. My dad was so excited he cried and can't stop talking about the baby! This is not his typical behavior so it's awesome to see him so excited to be a grandpa!
I called my close family and close friends when I found out. I just posted this picture to let all the rest of my family and friends know on social media.
We announced when my husband got a few days off at Christmas at the last minute. We fly out to San Diego and surprised my family with a visit. Right before my parents, grandpa, aunt and us went out to Christmas Eve dinner, we told everyone. Needless to say they were shocked.
I posted this today (plus the cropped out face part) along with saying we were hopeful for 2016, Baby #2 due in July
At first glance, I thought you were holding a pirate sword... Maybe I need to get some sleep.
You aren't the only one....I thought it was some sort of sword or machete. Then for a second I was trying to figure out what the machete would symbolize in the announcement, until I looked down and saw the rest of the ribbon on the bottom left and behind her.
@ButterMyBiscuit it's true. You LITERALLY cannot win. It unreal but an actual fact.
People want to know why I'm not pregnant yet but also ask me why I'm not drinking and going to parties. Pick a lane people- you can't have it both ways. Either I'm the life or the party or I'm knocked up.
I'm finally at the point where I'm ready to tell people. Just waiting for the Materni21 test results then I'm jumping in the deep end.
We coached DD to say "I'm gonna be a big sister" and had her tell people in person or sent a video to long distance people (close family and friends). Nothing crazy, but it was cute. Most people I just started telling casually and told my family it wasn't a secret anymore so they could start letting it trickle out. A few days ago I posted a picture on Facebook of DD playing with a Scrabble board, it spelled out her name and then "Big" "Sister" coming off of letters in her name. I just captioned it "Big news - DD learned how to spell! And beat DH at Scrabble" and waited to see who actually took the time to read what it spelled. I thought it would be more subtle but people got it right away.
(Scrabble is a theme with us - our wedding invitation had LOVE spelled out in Scrabble tiles on the top, and then when I announced DD's pregnancy I had our last name with "Baby" "Makes" "Three" coming off of letters in our last name)
We announced our pregnancy only to family over the Christmas holidays. For my family, we always do a themed dirty Santa for all of the adults. This years theme was "what you wanted most". I packed the box with a t-shirt that says "mom to be in July 2016", bottles, prego pops, and other things and at the bottom of the box, I taped in a picture of our latest ultrasound. It was a huge hit!
At this point we've waited so long I might just wait until after the anatomy scan in early February to announce online. I kind of want to put my 25lb corgi/beagle mix in the baby wrap and post a photo of that, maybe with a comment about how we're hoping we can wear the baby without being bitten.
@foxa319 I totally agree that you really cannot win. We are going to have a almost 5 year age gap between our first and second. After the first was born, when she hit two, we were constantly hit with "Time to have another one!" and "She already has only child syndrome....better give her a sibling!" Ummm.....she doesn't have only child syndrome, she is two. And honestly, I have a kid that MAYBE threw 1-2 fits a week when she was two, which I would consider pretty dang good. So how do they figure it is only child syndrome, instead of being just a two year old? Only a tiny amount of people know that we are expecting, but I am preparing myself for all of the "Its about time!" and "Finally....I figured you guys would never have another at the rate you were going!" comments. So annoying.
@PhoebeJune1984yes! our DD is 3 (will be 4, 2 months after this one is born). People have been hassling forever. When we FB announced got a few "was wondering when #2 was coming along..." comments.
I announced that we had pending bad news a few weeks ago. When things were looking up I re announced in a more official capacity. Dh is a hockey fan. We've had hockey skate booties since our oldest was born (there's also pants and a hat).
