January 2016 Moms

Late January due dates check in!

Hey there, guys.  I just thought it might be nice for those of us due at the tail end of January to have a little check in to keep us going and staying positive (as can be, anyway) for these last few weeks.  I was thinking this would be good especially since it'll be hard seeing all the early Jan mamas deliver while we're still all uncomfortable and pregnant.  ;)  This is partially selfish because I'm in serious pain from my sciatic nerve and I need something to keep me strong and focused for the next 38 days (give or take.)

Anyway, I'm due 1/31 and would love to hear from any other ladies at the tail end of the month.  How are you feeling?  How much work time do you have left?  Doing anything special this evening for xmas eve?  Do you have any little milestones you're looking forward to?

For me, I'm feeling pretty terrible due to the sciatica, but I'm grateful that LO seems to be doing great and measuring right on schedule.  I'm off of work already because the show I'm working on wrapped up on Friday, which worked out very well, with the pain I'm in.  Currently, I'm just waiting for my husband to get home from work so we can decorate (and eat) a bunch of sugar cookies.  :)  And as for milestones, I can't wait until the 36 week ultrasound in 2 weeks, to see if baby girl is still breech (hopefully not!) and how big she is now.  She's been feeling like a giant in there recently!  I'd love to hear from my fellow end of the month ladies!  :)

Re: Late January due dates check in!

  • Hello! I'm due 1/31, too! Nausea has started up again. Besides that, I have serious headaches, heartburn, rib pain and sharp, shooting pain in my right butt cheek. :( not doing anything special tonight besides resting and watching a Long Island Medium marathon. I'm on vacation now since I work in a school. Haven't decided how long I'm gonna work after vacay. My original plan was to work till the end. We shall see...

    Merry Christmas!

  • Hi Ladies! This is a nice idea. I feel so behind everyone else, it's hard to keep positive when I know there are up to 7 weeks left! So thanks for starting this. I'm due 1/29, so I'll be 35 weeks tomorrow.

I have a terrible cold which has brought on lots of intermittent contractions, so I feel fairly crappy. I can't wait till this cold goes away! Thankfully I'm off work for the holidays, but I'll be back in January and hope to work the whole month.

We had my MIL over tonight for a nice dinner, presents, and some Christmas movies. Chilling for the rest of the night and tomorrow will be just me and DW relaxing and doing a couple presents and lots of food.

I'm looking forward to my GBS test, because I want to be sure I don't have it so it doesn't impact my hope for a drug free labor. I'm also getting another ultrasound next week because I have a large, possibly cancerous cyst on my ovary so they check on it often. It will be nice to see baby girl again.

Sorry, that was long! Don't mean to be an AW! I like hearing from everyone else too.

@maureenmce, I'm so sorry you're in such pain! I had super bad pelvis pain but I've been seeing a chiropractor and I feel WAY better now. I know there's not really anything that helps for sciatica, so hang in there!

@GAgirlinSDakota hoping you get your sneaky VBAC! ;)

    Feel better, @PeachyBaby131

  • I'm due 1/26. I'm feeling pretty good. My sciatic nerve has been bothering me since the end of the first trimester and that still sucks. Sleeping is hard because I always hurt in my back and hips. But I feel like I still have energy so that's great.

Today we celebrated Christmas at my parents house with all my moms side of the family. Tomorrow it will just be me and my husband and my parents and sisters. We've been watching a great show on Netflix - Making a Murderer. It's like Serial but from Netflix. Super interesting and well done. I'd be happy to hang out and binge on that and cookies for the next couple of days.

  • I am due Jan 28 I am 35 weeks as of now but I don't feel as if I will go that far.
  • I like the idea of this thread! It's hard to be patient seeing the earlier due dates already deliver. I'm due January 29th as well, worst symptom currently is rib pain and as of yesterday swelling in my hands (no more wedding ring until after baby), so small potatoes in the scheme of things . Grateful that the holidays have helped time pass more quickly but I'm hoping little girl doesn't run too far past her due date, I already feel crazy from the anticipation and impatience. @claireloSC I'm also working up until my due date, do you have a contingency plan for early delivery? I've tried to make my employer (mostly male workers in my industry) very aware that's a possibility just so they aren't completely unprepared if I'm suddenly out of the office
  • Hi ladies I'm due 26rh Jan. This is my 4th and last! I am really not enjoying this pregnancy and I'm finding it hard to bond with baby because if it. I think it's mostly hard because my husband works very long hours and expects me to pick up the slack in the household. I usually don't mind as I don't work anymore as our youngest is 18 months and it doesn't make financial sense. However, that said I am so huge this time round that I'm heavy and miserable and I'm constantly getting annoyed with hubby and I believe me I let him know about it.

    Currently I am feeling:

Exhausted - that's the worst (mainly due to not being able to find a comfy position and having to get up to owe several times - oh and toddler taking it on herself to wake up screaming several times every night).

Pelvic pain - this has got worse and feels as if my waters might break in certain positions & when baby moves funny.

Sciatica - check! Mainly right butt cheek.

    Nausea - yet that's returned!

Upset tummy - fun, fun, fun.

And the must upsetting news for me is I just found out I have GBS so I won't get to have the natural birth I wanted and I can't go home after a few hours like my other kids - I'm really upset & disappointed by this :(

Other than that it's all good but I'm definitely ready to meet this baby and I know it's bad but I wouldn't mind him turning up early!

Very jealous of the early Jan mums & those that have delivered already!

Much love ladies & hang in there!

    Xxxxx
  • I am 1/31 as well with a RCS in 1/25. I am just ready for this to be over, it's my third and this has been the worst pregnancy. I am a SAHM so no going to a job, but my boys are great. They mostly want to lay in my bed and watch movies in the morning, then play and then do quite time. So I am not stressed with them all day. I am looking forward to 37 weeks, I have a massage. And tonight I went to my parent, just put the boys to bed and waiting for them to fall asleep so santa can come.

  • I'm due 1/30 but I'm high risk and Monday my doctors and I are discussing my birth plan and early induction. I'm so tired, not only from prego related insomnia but also 3 doctors visits every week until my baby girl is here. Sciatica pain is killing me as well as heart burn that does not go away no matter what I try. I also caught a cold from my SO and after my nap today my uvula is swollen and I feel like I'm chocking on it.... Fun times. Even with all the crappy things happening I have NSTs twice a week and an ultrasound at least once a week. Baby girl has been head down for about a month and every time we check on her she's practicing her breathing which is so beautiful to see. I'm looking forward to just holding her and sleeping like a real person again. Btw great idea on this thread. Sometimes it's a little hard to be at the tail end of the month. Tonight SO and I watched How the Grinch Stole Christmas and Twas the Night Before Christmas and then went for our annual drive around town looking at Christmas lights.
  • January 27 here! I'm measuring 2 weeks ahead and technically high risk. I was labeled high risk back at 20 weeks for bp issues but haven't made any negative progress since so I've been able to have a "normal" pregnancy luckily. Even with measuring ahead and the possibility of legitimately becoming high risk, I feel like I'll end up delivering in February 2 weeks late lol
  • I'm due Jan 27th. DD#1 was born 3 weeks early so I don't know if I'll make it to my due date or not. This time I am fully prepared to go early vs. last time running around packing my hospital bag after my water had broken.

I'm at the uncomfortable stage. I feel a lot of pressure when walking, heartburn is a constant and I can barely walk up a flight of stairs without getting winded.

I will be working from home until DD is born. Going into my office was becoming very uncomfortable and causing exhaustion.

  • I am due the 23rd but my daughter came at 41.5 wks and I fear the same will happen here again. Really I can't wait to get this over with. For some reason when the baby kicks it hurts as well as he moves on a part of my hips that causes a lot of shooting pain. I have stomach issues/ indigestion, insomnia, pain in my feet, and can no longer breath :(
However, as long as he will be healthy and happy so will I .
  • Hey ladies. I'm due Jan 30. I had a few minor worries earlier in my pregnancy but have no foreseeable issues needing an early induction or c-section. This is my second baby, first girl, and we have been going back and forth over baby names since we found out we were pregnant! My son's name came to us quickly and we never once doubted it-baby girl is a whole nother story!
My biggest issues lately have been exhaustion and heartburn. Also, baby girl keeps switching from head down to transverse, so I'm really hoping she gets it together so I can have another vaginal delivery. January 6 is my last scheduled sonogram and start of my weekly appointments until she arrives. Kind of crazy to be at this point already! With my son I was induced on my due date, so I'm curious to see how and when little miss will arrive.

Thanks for starting this thread. It will be hard after the holiday slump to wait another 30ish days to have our babies. Praying for a happy, healthy last few weeks and deliveries of all our precious babes!

  • I'm due 1/26. I'm feeling pretty good. My sciatic nerve has been bothering me since the end of the first trimester and that still sucks. Sleeping is hard because I always hurt in my back and hips. But I feel like I still have energy so that's great.

@katyschafer we just finished it this morning! Took us a whole 3 days to watch all 10 hours but we just couldn't stop.
  • January 22nd for me. I'm definitely ready to be done. It hasn't been an easy pregnancy for me. This is my first and probably my last. I had 3 herniated discs in my back before getting pregnant so have been in a lot of pain the whole time. When I herniated them, I was put on 2 different drugs (now pulled off the market because they caused stomach ulcers and heart attacks) and ever since then have had terrible heart burn, but was able to take care of it with lots of meds. Once I got pregnant it was off the meds. So I have had terrible heart burn the whole time as well as back and leg pain. I have also had pretty bad nausea the whole time (probably from the heart burn). I got a really bad cold about 6 weeks ago and am still coughing from it. I have also had mastitis 3 times!!!! Every time I've gotten it my doc or midwife says something along the lines of, "That's odd, I've only seen breastfeeding patients get this." Which makes me feel oh so special (sarcasm). I wish all you ladies weren't having problems, too, but it is also comforting to know I'm not the only one. I plan on working until the end so hopefully she comes on time!!!

Love this! I'm due 1/26. Feeling OK so far. We are pretty ready as in nursery done (at least the essentials), hospital bag packed, and having all the essential things (already had all six baby showers- excessive but fortunate to have friends, family and coworkers who want to host and celebrate this baby that badly ). We are just waiting for him to come now....

I'm sick so everytime I cough I pee so I've been wearing panty liners daily.

Other than that... Everything is normal/typical as far as pregnancy symptoms (insomnia, swollen feet, gbs positive, 30 lb weight gain so I now weigh Just as much as my husband, nausea, etc).

Working until the last day possible so I can have all three months with him. Might ask to be induced on my due date if he doesn't come on time so my maternity leave isn't wasted.

    Let's hang in there! :)
  • Due 1/28 here! My feet have been pretty swollen and uncomfortable. My back and hips kill me though when I try to sleep no matter how many pillows I have. Other than that, I haven't been too uncomfortable, just tired.

The holidays have been pretty rough too. All the get-togethers exhaust me, especially when my mind is so focused on baby. Her room is not ready yet and I really need to get some deep cleaning done before she comes. I am on winter break right now because I'm a teacher. So I'm glad for the extra time to get things done, but I feel like a chicken with its head cut off. So much to do and so little time! I still need to prepare for a sub at work too. I'm planning to go back and work until I go into labor. Hopefully I can make it because I want as much of my time off spent with her once she is born instead of just waiting for her to arrive.

I have been measuring between 2-4 weeks ahead at my appointments for the past 6 weeks. So I feel like she will come early, but I'm really not sure. My blood pressure was also a little high at my last appointment. So here's hoping they don't try to induce because of that.

Hang in there ladies, not too much longer!
  • I'm due Jan 27th. I developed carpal tunnel from the swelling and it is the worst! Basically my fingers have been numb for 3 weeks and at night it gets pretty painful so it's hard to sleep.
Still working on the nursery and clothes have yet to be washed and hospital back has yet to be packed. I'm waiting for the nesting to kick in because I need some motivation haha. Luckily, I am off of work starting Jan 4th. Hopefully he doesn't come too early so I can finish getting things ready!
  • Due date of 1/25 here! I don't think I've ever been more ready for anything than not being pregnant. Luckily I haven't had too many episodes of sciatic pain. However, I probably just jinxed myself. I do believe I've been suffering from SPD, though. It's pretty painful to sleep on my sides or even walk around. Last night even sitting on the couch hurt. I also look like the pillsbury dough boy with how swollen my poor feet are. I also haven't been able to wear my wedding ring since about 22 weeks due to swelling. Up until this week, I was having horrible acid reflux while sleeping. It wasn't so much of heartburn as it was burping up stomach acid and my throat feeling like I had just eaten incredibly hot salsa. I'm jealous of all the mommies that get to see their LO these last few weeks. At one of my last appointments, I asked the midwife and she checked with her hands and said he's head down (which I already had a good guess of), so I doubt I'll be getting one. My next appointment will be at 37 weeks and that's when they'll be checking my cervix. I'm really hoping I don't go over or I may not be able to work up until my due date like I had hoped! Merry Christmas to all of my fellow bumpers!
  • Merry Christmas Mommas! I'm due 1/25, and hoping to VBAC. DS1 was born 2 weeks postdate and enormous (hence the unplanned c/s), but I'm still hopeful for a vbac. I have a growth u/s next week when I'm 36 weeks.

DS1 is 2.5 years old and Christmas was/is so fun this year. :)

I have the usual late third trimester ailments - lots of low back pain, pee my pants on the regular, major BH, swelling, and I feel like a giant turtle stuck on its back whenever I get up or down, or pretty much move at all haha. Oh and major lightening crotch, I don't remember having it, or the major BH, with DS1.

  • I'm a FTM and due Jan 24th. I've had a great pregnancy overall and a few weeks ago it's like a switch flipped and all of a sudden I'm just super uncomfortable and have so much more back pain and pelvic pain and pressure.

This is the third day in a row that I've had pain in my... Abdomen? Bump? Whatever you call it. Like it hurts all over and I've had a lot of pressure all over and a lot of squeezing im sure it's All BH but man oh man if this lasts for the next 4 weeks I don't even know how I will be able to stand up at work!

Not that I wish how we feel on anyone, it's still reassuring to know we are all feeling similarly
  • I'm due 1/31 and between the heartburn, the swelling and the exhaustion, I'm feeling really jealous of all the moms that are due in the next couple weeks.  I took a few days off for Christmas and I've just been relaxing and napping.  It's been wonderful
  • @mch9191 My boss understands I can only work until I can work, but everyone else at work just thinks babies come on time or something. They are in denial about me going on leave soon! We have tentatively decided who will cover for me, but the plan hasn't been put in action yet. That should be happening when we come back from the holidays. Since most FTMs go late, I'm just hoping she comes after and it all works out. A part of me hopes comes a little early so I can be done with work sooner, haha. I bet I'll be giving birth and they'll be calling me to ask work questions... I work at a startup (very male dominated too) and no one really gets the whole work life balance thing.

Exactly!  It was so great to hear from so many of you late Jan ladies.  Let's keep checking in as often as we want.  Merry Christmas for those of you who celebrate it and let's hang in there together, one day at a time!  :)
  • I don't think I have anything to add that people haven't already said! Due Jan 26th and it couldn't come.fast enough! Between my feet being so swollen none of my shoes fit to carpal tunnel driving me crazy I'm so done! I am supposed to work 12 hour shifts up until 3 days before my due date...we'll see how that goes. 13 more shifts.... sounds terrible!! Plus I can't wait to see this little one and finally know if it's a boy or girl!! Good luck everyone, we are almost there!
  • Hi, I havent posted on here but this thread spoke to me. I am due 1/29 with #2. Up until last week I had a pretty basic pregnancy (had pre-e with number 1 and ended up in bedrest ). My bp skyrocketed on Monday starting my first round of non stress tests, blood work etc. It seems to be mostly a problem when I work so I'm guessing I will be pulled out on Monday after I meet with the dr.
Symptoms are a ton of heartburn , baby is having a crazy amount of hiccups and I'm measuring almost 5 weeks ahead of schedule. Minor swelling in my hands and feet. Merry Christmas and I can't wait to see all the new bundles as they arrive.
  • I love this thread! I'm due 22nd. Turned 36 weeks today. This is boy number 4 for us and this pregnancy has gone so fast! I guess having three other boys in school and sports have kept me busy I've also only gained 21 lbs. which for me is crazy! Every other pregnancy I've gained at least 50!
I have had a normal easy one but like most have said these last couple days a switch has flipped and I'm SO uncomfortable and I cannot sleep! I really would like him to not come early since I still have a few things I'd like to get done before the big day but at some moments in the day I want to take him out myself! I even having lots of contractions, they are very irregular but getting more and more uncomfortable even waking me at night.
Currently I can't seem to quench my thirst but that's kept me going pee every two minutes!
I love knowing we are in the same boat with others due very soon.
We are almost there!! And it will end!! Merry Christmas!
  • I'm due on the 30th and measuring just right.  I am a teacher and I am not quite done with my sub plans... Nesting like crazy but no motivation for those sub plans!  I'm feeling ok, except for constipation.  Can't wait to have my bowels back to normal.
  • FTM due January 26th. Feeling quite uncomfortable & dealing with a lot of hip & pelvis pain. Her rolling & digging movements have been so uncomfortable. She's a strong active girl.
  • Due 1/28 here. 35 weeks and just d-o-n-e. Going to try for my second vba2c and have a tentative induction scheduled for 1/24. But realistically I'm hoping to go into labor by week 38.
At my 33 week growth scan he was measuring 6 lbs 1 oz and about 2 weeks ahead. I go for another scan on the 11th.

Nausea has returned. Have to be honest, I'm not a fan.

You should try drinking Kombucha or finding a magnesium supplement to add to your water. Kombucha clears me out if I'm having a particularly tough time, but since I've started magnesium I am regular and haven't had any problems with it since!
  • Due 1/25, so I'm exactly one month from my due date today! Feeling pretty good most days, just large and slow. Other days I'm down for the count with hip and pelvic pain. Sleep has been hard to come by. Her room is just about ready, and I'll be packing my hospital bag next week. Being on winter break from work as a teacher has been a blessing. After break I'll only have 3 weeks left!!
  • 1/23 here, but I can't shake this feeling that she'll either take after her impatient Daddy and show up super early OR take after her always-running-late Mommy and be a February baby, haha...

Either way, we're excited to meet her when she's ready. :) We've finished her room, I've been nesting like crazy so the house is ready, carseat is installed, and hospital bags are good to go.

So what in the world am I supposed to do for the next 4 weeks to make the time go by? Aaaagggghhhhh!!

  • So many other teachers on this thread!! I work 1-1 with a few kiddos with behavioral disabilities and will be returning after the holidays too, hopefully working up until I go into labor! My sub hasn't been nailed down yet and it's making me crazy not knowing who's going to take care of my work kids! I'm a FTM due the 28th and have had a pretty easy pregnancy so far, but these last few weeks I've really been starting to feel it! Back and hip pain, and tail bone pain if I sit for too long (which never happens at work thank god!!) Is it horrible I'm hoping to go a few days late because I like February's birth stone better? Waiting for my baby shower on the 10th to get his room finished and clothes washed and put away, and to get the final things set up. I can't believe it's month 9 already some days, others I just want him out so I can meet him already! Anticipation is killer!
  • I'm due 1/26 so ready to get rid of the painfully numb hands every morning, waking up choking multiple times at night and tripping over 2 cats to get to bathroom so I don't pee all over the floor, extreme pelvic pressure and chest pain and the emotional mind F of being told this much pain and suffering is normal. On the plus side sleeping isn't much of a problem, the nursery just needs a few decorative items hung and my bag is packed.
  • Due 1/27 but measuring large so waiting until my appointment next week to see if ob pressures me into scheduling a RCS (I am hoping baby will come early though so I can try for a VBAC). Feeling very large and uncomfortable and the lightning crotch has been worse than ever. Also having lots of period like cramping but other than that nothing much in the way of contractions. Trying to stay positive. We have been putting off organizing baby's room and clothes until after xmas so we have plenty to keep us busy now

Hi, I'm due 1/29, 35 weeks as of Friday. This is baby #3 for us were expecting a girl. Pregnancy overall has been descent, but I have experienced lots of weeks where I was just in pain, mostly in my hips, front pelvic region and buttocks. At 35 weeks sleep is elusive, and fatigue has returned with a vengeance. Been experiencing contractions for weeks , though now I'm starting to have lower abdominal ones that remind me of my last child's labor. My appetite was waned a lot and I have to really be on top of eating because some times I just have no desire too. We have what we need to pack for birthing Center, just have not packed it yet with the excitement leading up to the holidays. Husband and children are currently on a vacation I couldn't attend because my midwifery team would not clear me to fly (lot of feels about that)...

I plna to work up until showtime, my offices closed for last two weeks of the year so it's been great to be home resting and nesting we reopen on 1/4/16, and I will start working from home.

I'm kinda Luke warm on the idea of having to trek to my midwives office every week now, but hey. My hope is baby will sit tight until after 37 weeks. After that she is welcome to make her grand entrance. Honestly, there are some days where I'm like phew I'm ready not to be pregnant anymore, then there are days where I'm kinda like, yeah having five more weeks utill due works for me to continue to get things together and rest.

Happy knew Year to all the Jan mommies !
