  • I don't like real Christmas Trees, unless it is a decent looking scotch pine and that's pushing it.

  • I think baked apples are disgusting. Actually I hate all fruit in non raw form. And a lot of fruit in raw form... I can eat the hell out of different vegetables, but fruits are blech!

(Inspired by the dream I had last night where I was an apple pie eating competitor, even though in said dream I still hated baked fruit...)
  • I hate Christmas Trees in general. They're such a PITA and I haven't put one up in years.

  • @yodiggity DDs bathroom is most definitely not designed with kids in mind...MY kid, yes. It was beach forever, but we redid it in a Labrador hunting theme from Bass Pro since DD loves dogs (and animals in general). It's 100% "grown up"...Arnd she loves it.

  • @yodiggity DS' bathroom has a whale spout cover and bath tub toys, otherwise it's a grown up bathroom. I've never considered changing it, I didn't realize that was a thing.

Unless you're over 60 or severely allergic, fake Christmas trees are for lazy people with no Christmas spirit.

    Real trees foreva!
Or if you live in a state where a real tree will die in a week or cause a house fire (I'm looking at you, Arizona).

Plus we had cats growing up and they ate all the needles, and would regurgitate them later for us to find.

Not worth the mess or money.

Hey! It takes quite a bit of time to put the tree together and make it pretty. If anything real trees are for lazy people because it's already assembled. :P

  • @poppy16 I try eggnog every year too, just to make sure I'm not missing out, and every year I gag.
  • I also will not convert my bathroom into a more friendly kid version. DD likes to take a bath without Elsa and Anna plastered everywhere.

I also think bath paints or chalk defeat the purpose of a bath.

I used to help my grandma put hers together when she made the big switch and it had individual branches and was a total pain in the ass to assemble. Meanwhile, my in laws trees is prelit and literally unfolds like a damn umbrella. It's fascinating!

We go to a farm and get ours cut, then strap it to the car, get it home, manage not to knock it over 10x in the base, and it's usually a process full of laughter and cursing. Wouldn't have it any other way. Pregnant me getting down on the floor to water it is pretty comical too these days. ;)

So much yes! Though I admit to enjoying "Love Actually" about once a year as well.
  • We probably will not take our (real) tree down until spring. There's a good chance it will still be up when baby gets here. Don't care, it smells good and looks pretty and as long as I keep watering it it'll live. Last year's tree lasted through June. Why spend time, effort, and money putting up decorations if you're only going to have them up for a month?

Also, just a generic UO, not Xmas related but why does my guest bathroom "need" to be converted into a kid friendly bathroom. I LOVE my grown up shower curtain and towels. Why do I need to put up an Elsa Shower curtain or a Sesame Street themed vomit bathroom (not specifically those characters but just an example)? My SO mentioned we should redo the bathroom into a more kid friendly style. Um...the kid isn't even here yet and she wont even really be a kid who gives a shit about character things for a while and NO.

I always thought they should be kid friendly in the sense of having their bath toys in it and nothing laying around that the heh may try to eat, but not kid themed. I already told DH the guest bathroom will be beach theme.

And Elf is not a funny movie. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Furthermore, I think white Christmas lights and matchy themed trees are silly too. Pretty, sure, but not Christmassy. Give me all the rainbow lights and mismatched, home made ornaments!

Can you not tell I grew up with a lopsided real tree and a random assortment of beautiful ornament creations? Haha.

I am waaaaaay too OCD for a fake tree and mismatched ornaments... I will totally have a wreath for my LO to put whatever he wants on it for his room, but I can't handle color like that... Sets of anxiety to have things out of place, and it looks blurry all the time... And now that I'm pretty convinced I should look back into therapy >.>

My UO: I can not stand all the 'engagement' commercials and jewelery advertising for Christmas. Or anytime for that matter. I'm probably bitter about all my failed relationships, but I would hate to share my engagement with, what I consider, a religious holiday.

Boo Hallmark holidays. Stop commercializing everything.

But then we'd miss out on classics like this:

  • I don't like real Christmas Trees, unless it is a decent looking scotch pine and that's pushing it.

Nahhh, real trees do just fine here, if you buy a decent one, trim the bottom before you put it in water, and keep it watered. We just wait a week or so after Thanksgiving to put it up, and then we'll take it down a week or so after Christmas.

I am firmly in the live tree camp here. It just doesn't smell like Christmas with a fake tree. And what's Christmas without a little tree-related cursing???

I hate Christmas movies too. But I hate Will Ferral movies more. Only Christmas movie worth watching is Home Alone, and as dumb as this sounds, I didn't even realize this was a Christmas movie until I was a teenager.

DH proposed Christmas Day in front of my whole family. I get where he was coming from thinking it would be a nice moment to share with everyone (and it was), but I kind of wish he had done something a little more intimate. I didn't particularly care it was Christmas considering I'm not religious and don't see it as a particularly religious holiday

@AEG84 amen, sister. If your real tree becomes a fire hazard, you're doing it wrong. :p
  • I guess I have the uo with I have a yellow with white headboard Mickey mouse bathroom lol. The extent of it is the shower curtain.

And I don't see the point of the special Santa gift like my hubbys side of the family. I put from Santa randomly on gifts. I don't care to put an emphasis on the big guy. My kids know who wants is and that he brings the presents etc. They are almost 4 and 2
  • We ALWAYS had a real tree growing up. We always went and cut it down ourselves. One of my dad's employees had property with hundreds of acres of trees and we got to go cut down our own tree (and one for our church) for free. So it was always straight from the ground fresh. We live in Florida now so it's all shipped in, when we got home from up north last year there was a house about a mile from us that had a HORRIBLE Christmas tree fire (to the point that only just now is the house going to be livable again) so we'll be doing fake so long as we're in Florida, sadly...

  • The only place for a tree in my house is in the same room as the fireplace we heat with. If I do a real tree, it dries up within two weeks, even when constantly watered. Plus, my son is very allergic to trees, all trees, but especially evergreen trees. So, real is a no go for us.

I used to have a kid centered bathroom, but only because my sister had painted the bathroom with such a horrible color that the only matching bathroom set I could find was safari themed. I finally got rid of that this summer. Painted and everything is now black and white, simple.

As for eggnog, if I have it, I have to thin it with milk. But I never just buy it.
  • I have always had real trees but this year I am getting a fake one (it's arriving tonight!). I am tired of the spiders in real trees and worrying about my cat eating the needles.

This will sound really ungrateful but I hate getting Bath and Body Works lotion and bath gel for Christmas. There is seriously a collection growing in my closet and I'll never regift it because I think it's a lazy and a tacky gift to give someone unless your 100% sure on what scent they use.

Nope! Have to agree! I hate getting gifts like that because I feel if my "friends" knew me then they would know what I like, and not settle for a cop out gift.
  • Just because you are older does not mean you are wiser. My dad spent a decent amount of time arising car seat safety last night. My child WILL NOT wear his jacket in his car seat. He can have it over his arms after he's buckled in, but do not put my child in a jacket and then buckle him into his car seat.
