Exercise!

Re: Exercise!

  • I'm in! I gained a healthy amount with DD but was already about 20lbs heavier than I'd like to be before I got pregnant. Same this time around, about 20lbs heavier than I'd like to be and hoping to keep my weight gain under control. Last time around, I got high blood pressure towards the end (stress related, it went into normal range when I was put off work on medical leave) and I also had blood sugar levels on the high end of normal. My doctor said I might be higher risk for gestational diabetes this time since I was close to borderline last time around, so keeping my blood sugars and blood pressure in line are another huge motivation for me. But not enough motivation to get to the gym, so far. I'm trying not to be hard on myself right now because I'm so sick, but hopeful for more exercise in the 2nd trimester and beyond.

  • I'm in!! At the time when I got pregnant I had just lost 30 lbs after working my butt off for 6 months. I REALLY don't want to lose the motivation I had to keep working out and eating well, but my exhaustion everyday and ravenous appetite is making that a challenge! I used to work out 3-4 times a week and have dropped down to about once a week at this point, and I need to be better at aiming for at least 3 days a week again. It's so easy to make excuses right now! I really just want to gain a healthy amount of weight during this pregnancy and not let this get out of control.
  • Just a question when it comes to BodyPump, for those who do it or who have while prev pregnant. When would you need to start making modifications; such as when you're lying on your back on the bench? If anyone knows it would be great, otherwise I'll just ask my dr at my next apt next week.

  • I was bodybuilding and trained for Spartan Races before TTC and cut back from 6/7 days to 4/5 daysof training when we started trying...since MS kicked in (all day) I've gone to the gym once and almost threw up on the weights...haven't gone since, but will start again in a few weeks when I feel better. I can't stand up for long and don't have any energy. Hoping the holiday break from work helps!
  • I just got back from a 3 mile run. Felt like I had to pee the whole time (didn't really have to), and was nauseous just a little in the middle, but otherwise it was great, and I now feel better (after showering too) than I have all day. It's worth it ladies. We've also been doing a 20 min walk every night. I have the Fitbit One, and it helps motivate for sure.

  • I tried I tried so hard today but running was out of the question due to dehydration and vomitting after most meals lately. But I did make it to the gym!

  • I worked extra shifts this week and it's been cold as shit this week, so no extra walks or anything for me. I did do some lunges and squats walking the halls at work though, and spent all weekend running my ass off from room to room as every patient was setting their bed alarms off every few minutes. I'm counting work as exercise this week. Planning on walking tomorrow with DH since he's not at work this week.
  • I think I'll get back into it over Christmas Break but this bloating kills me! I'm so afraid I'll get the running farts or something on the treadmill. haha.
  • Still working out every other day! Are we checking in using this thread or another one created weekly?

  • Would love to...unfortunately after work I'm usually pooped. Feel like I could sleep for days...went for a walk/jog for the first time in a while last night and ran right over an unmarked slab of fresh concrete. Ummmm....fail. In my defense it was dark out. Now whenever l run over that sidewalk I get to remember how much of an idiot I am!

Can you work out before work? Or even just go for a walk or do yoga off YouTube? I've found even when in exhausted it has been helping me to just move a little bit

Well I already get up at 5 am to go to work since I have to leave the house by 6. Not sure if I could get up any earlier than that.... Definitely going to try to fit in a daily brisk walk right when I get home though. Either way though it is going to be dark outside - I hate winter!
  • I'm in too! I was doing so well until MS kicked in and I've seriously slacked since. Really want to stay fit this pregnancy. I could use some accountability!

  • I'm in. Was very active up until 5 weeks ago. I've been trying to work out and I've been doing what I can. I can't wait for the nausea to go away so I can feel like myself again. Thanks for this post. What do I need to do for accountability?
