Hair loss from bc

Hi ladies ! I'm on my second month of BCPs before starting ivf meds on the 28th of this month . I have noticed I am having severe hair loss . I normally shed quite a bit and am never alarmed bc I have plenty of thick hair . But now I am starting to notice bald spots and my ponytail is pencil thin . I used to break hair bands when I put my hair up it is so thick . I feel so silly freaking out but I am totally losing it . On top of the fact that I've gained 20 lbs from treatments over the last six months now I'm gonna be hairless ? I bought some anti aging hair kit to help prevent more loss but I am just at a loss for what to do . Has anyone experienced this ? I hope when I start my ivf meds this levels out ....

DH: No issues.
Me: PCOS, unexplained infertility (whatever that means!!)
June 2015 Medicated TI cycle: BFN
July 2015:  Medicated TI cycle: BFN
August 2015: IUI: BFP. Chemical pregnancy :(
October 2015: IUI: BFN
January 2016: Egg retrieval: 10 frozen embryos!
March 2016: FET Cycle- 2 embryos transferred!: BFP !

    Yes, girl, yes!! I thought I was the only one because Dr. Google kept telling me it wasn't caused by the bc! I had super thick hair until I started BC for cysts. I would wake up in the morning and my pillow would be covered in hair. Also, not a single time could I run my hands through my hair without multiple strands in my fingers. Also, I noticed most of the time the root would be attached to the hair, which was so strange to me. It took about 3 weeks after stopping to slow down, but once you get your BFP, you'll likely start losing hair again. My mom told me yesterday my hair is still thick, but it just feels and looks nothing like it used to!

    While it sucks right now, it will all be worth it!

    TTC since 5/14
    Unexplained with (controlled) hypothyroidism and suspected ovulatory dysfunction (but, I do ovulate on my own)
    Clomid 50 mg 3/15 (unmonitored) - BFN
    Clomid 50 mg + metformin 4/15 (unmonitored) - BFN 
    First RE appt. 5/15; Natural cycle 5/15 monitored with 2 mature follicles and Pregnyl Trigger (full dose) + prometrium - BFN
    6/15 HSG - clear tubes & normal uterus; great PCT test results
    TI - 100 mg Clomid + prometrium (AM & PM) + vaginal estrace (AM & PM) 6-7/15 (monitored) --> no additional response and thinned lining - BFN
    TI - Injectables (follistim + Gonal-F, Ganirelix, & 1/2 dose Pregnyl) + prometrium (AM & PM) 9/15 --> 3-7 mature follicles (3 definites and 4+ that could have matured due to trigger) @ O -->BFN + 5 large cysts
    BC for 2 weeks due to cysts
    TI - Injectables (Gonal-F, Ganirelix & full dose Pregnyl) + prometrium (AM & PM) 10/15 --> 1 mature follicle --> BFN 
    TI - Last attempt at injectables (Gonal-F, Ganirelix & 1/2 dose Pregnyl) + crinone (AM only) + vaginal estrace (AM & PM) 11/15 --> 3-4 mature follicles --> BFP!! 11/27/15 @ 13dpo (shockingly, actually waited until then to test)

    Beta #1 @ 16dpo (11/30/15) = 1,075
    Beta #2 @ 19dpo (12/3/15) = 3,150
    One baby: Saw heartbeat @ 5w5d (114 bpm; baby measuring 2.3mm)

    Omg @riveridgional thank you . I'm glad I'm not alone in this (although sad you have had to experience this too ) I am obsessing over it . at this rate I don't know how I'm gonna have any hair left ! I'm afraid to put it up in a ponytail or brush it for fear it'll just be gone ! I'm so ready to be off this damn pill .... But am worried what ivf meds will do to it !! I hope I don't have to start wearing wigs :/

    Definitely know what you are going through! I too was too afraid to brush it since sometimes just running my fingers through, I felt like I could actually feel the hair being pulled out. I certainly was not pulling my hair though! I also hated washing my hair and was worried the scrubbing with my fingers was making it worse. Luckily, it slowed when I stopped even on the injects, but I noticed it slowed significantly during the 2ww. If we had to do IVF, I was going to request he prescribe a different BC since I didn't have that problem previously. He put me on MARLISSA Levonorgestrel and Ethinyl Estradiol Tablets. Is this by any chance what you're taking?

    I highly suggest trying Ovation Cell Therapy. It's worked wonders! I'm sorry that on top of everything else you're experiencing this. It'll be worth it in the end, right?!

    @mskeenan one of my number one complaints about birth control! If you are generally more prone to hair loss, it can be exacerbated exponentially by Bc. It's mentioned as a side effect in the fine f'ing print. I've always lost hair taking it and did before my IVF cycle. Now I have a ton of baby wispies as it tries to grow back. Grrr. Sorry lady.

    I've noticed the same thing @mskeenan! My hair was so thick, but since starting bcp's and the stress of IF I can see a difference and it makes me so sad!

    Oh no! I'm sorry to hear about this side effect!!

    I'm hoping I don't have this to look forward to once I start BCPs!
