  • Does your stomach hurt too much to eat?
  • Find something bland and make yourself eat, you need calories and prenatals are absorbed better with food. I didn't have any appetite this morning (or dinner last night) and I managed to stomach a bowl of soup for dinner and oatmeal for breakfast. For awhile I was eating rice, plain rice, for meals because it wasn't as objectionable as my other food options.
  • I've had an aversion to food in general for the last week or so as well. The best thing you can do is eat something bland, and try to think about ANYTHING that might sound good. If a healthy food at least sounds bearable, then eat that. If literally the only thing you can stomach at the moment is french fries, then eat that, because it's better than nothing.
It will get better! I know it will! :)

  • Right now staying hydrated is the most important thing. You should try to eat something if you can but keep in mind that at this stage, your baby is going to borrow from you what you can't give from outside calories. You have muscle, blood sugar and body fat that the baby can and will consume. This doesn't bode so well for you as it will weaken you over time if you don't get your appetite under control. But baby is going to be just fine.

I had the same thing. A lot of people think if you're not throwing up, you "don't have morning sickness" - absolutely not true. I didn't throw up more than twice and had severe morning sickness and total food aversion for MOST of my pregnancy. When you throw up, you at least tend to get some relief but when you don't, for whatever reason, you're just feeling sick constantly.

Make sure you get enough sugar. Sour fruit is a great fix for MS (and i call that maternity sickness, not morning sickness since it's usually constant) - sour food in general. Peppermint also helps. Popsicles have calories but go down easy. Natural fruit juices with no added sugars. White rice, that sort of thing. If you are turned off by meat, try tofu or "fake" meat. Nuts also contain a ton of protein.

Remember it is ok to be averse to eating right now, natural and happens to a lot of women. Around week 14 it tends to taper off. Sickness began to taper off for me around week 21. Aversion never did. Hang in there, mama.

I'm confused ... If you are having food aversions then don't eat what sounds bad. If you aren't having any nausea or vomiting that's a good thing. If you aren't hungry don't eat. Stay hydrated Take your prenatal vitamins and chill
I'm also a bit confused. Because you say you get sick but not nauseous. Can you elaborate a bit?
  • I have these moments too. I always keep water and gatorade by me a drink on it and I try to eat cracker and like soup and sometimes I can keep it down (though sometimes it comes up) you just have to keep trying because the baby is going to get nutrients off of you however it has to so really you need to keep something in your system to keep yourself healthy because the baby is constantly taking away from you (that is the advice my doctor gave me)
  • I feel similar except for I don't ever feel hungry, and I did bring it up to my doctor.. Just as someone else said, make sure you're drinking lots of water, and eating bland foods. I've never had a big appetite so I'm not much help. But I've noticed even before getting pregnant when I was too busy to really stop for a meal I would get so hungry I would feel sick and then couldn't eat. Start out small, maybe a nutrition shake or smoothie could help and see if you can work up to crackers or toast.
  • I know exactly what you mean, I've been the same way! It started around week 6-7. I had morning sickness where I felt awful all the time, then it changed and started to get better, but even when I didn't feel nauseous I just didn't want to eat anything. Nothing sounded good, I had an aversion to pretty much everything, even most bland food... When I tried to make myself eat something when I didn't feel like it I just threw it up.
My best advice is try to drink something, unfortunately I've been dehydrated because I have a hard time drinking anything either. Don't be like me. This too shall pass..... I assume.
